Legal Disclaimer - As a mechanical engineer, electricity is basically sorcery to me. But I do recall some V=IR stuff from my college days.

I blew out a GI string in a game last week. I didn't have the particular fuse in my kit, so I ordered replacement 5A 125V fuses from Amazon Prime. They showed up and as I was about to replace it, I realized all 20 in the pack are 5A 250V.

IIRC, a fuse is a sacrificial resistor. So if current rating is the same and voltage rating is 2x, does that mean it can handle the same current but at 2x the voltage (which the GI circuit was never designed for) meaning it should work? Or should I be on my way to Kohl's to make an Amazon return? Thanks!

    Quoted from schudel5:

250V is the maximum voltage rating. It'll work just fine. Fuses open based on the current.
Your GI circuit is only 6.5V so 32V, 125V and 250V fuse voltage ratings will work.

It's what I suspected, but was deathly afraid to assume. Thanks!
