Hello All. I have a Bally Bow and Arrow (EM 1975). I recently gave in and had it professionally restored. I noticed that each time I hit a "500 Points" target it actually gives me 3000 points instead. I know that there is a specific relay for "500 Points." When I activate this inside the machine it adds 3000 points. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I have a strange reason as to why I am concerned about this: There are not many 100 Point targets on the Bow and Arrow. Therefore one rarely hears that particular chime. The 10 point and 1000 point chimes go off all the time. I'd like a more complete chord being struck! Any help would be appreciated.

Does this cover it, or is it happening all the time?

If it's not supposed to be happening (re: above) then I would check these switches.

Thanks for your reply. The thumper bumpers are all working correctly. It is simply that the wrong score registers. It's the "500 Relay" itself. It works when the right things are triggered. However it always gives 3000 pts instead of the 500. However, I will check it out.

This is one of those things that pisses you off in the home environment that had we found it in a game on location, we'd hope the operator never found it. LOL.

Can you elaborate on how the 500 point relay fires? When it works correctly it should fire when you hit a 500 point target and stay active while the Score Motor turns. It shouldn't relax until about the same time the Score Motor stops turning.

Is your 3000 point relay firing too when the 500 point relay fies? If so I have a theory.

If your 3000 point relay fires too, it will shut off the 500 point relay immediately by opening the normally closed switch in the small red box. So your 500 point relay will trip briefly but relax immediately while the Score Motor keeps turning.

What may be happening is that you have a short across one of the Make/Break switches on the A, B, C or D relays in the big red box. A short between the two outer blades on any of those switches would fire the 3000 point relay every time the 500 point relay fires. The 3000 point relay would shut off the 500 point relay and stay active while the Score Motor turns and give you the 3000 points.
