I have most of the issues worked out of my first pin except for a last ball issue. Sometimes the machine will play 5 balls and finish with a game over, but most of the time it continues playing more balls. It may just be 1 or 2 extra. Then other times it just keeps going. I do have the schematics, but am not sure where to look. Open to any suggestions.

I have a 4 Square that just started doing this same thing! I was about to try to track this down as well, but haven't quite gotten to it yet!

Someone point us in the right direction!

Thanks eded, I have done a lot of searching but some how missed that post. The difference that I have, is the game doesn't finish. No dead playfield. I can get ball after ball and keep on playing. The kids like it becauser the can run the score up. The post did give some ideas on where to look. I will give some a try and see what happens.

I’d check zero position switch on ball count. Usually a good suspect. 1st, make sure switch stack screws are tight. Make sure switches are clean and adjusted properly. Hopefully get you going.

I don't have the schematic.. but you might want to check/clean the contacts on relays XB (Last ball) and O (Outhole/Ball Return)

Thanks to everyone for their help. I've lost track of all the contacts that were cleaned to get the machine to where it is now. I'm going to have to wait till the weekend and hopefully get it figured out.

I got my finish problem solved. I was overthinking the whole problem. I had cleaned the ball count rivets on the stepper, but never did anything with the lower rivets ( approx. 5 o'clock position) I cleaned those and now the game is finishing every time. I am assuming the lower ones are for the game over. See pic.
