I noticed when playing a game the other day (I think maybe it was Iron Maiden) that if you very slowly pressed in the flipper button, the main flipper activates first, then about 1mm more push on the button and the secondary flipper kicks in. Under normal play that secondary flipper switch will be engaged almost identically the same time the main switch is flipped.

Anyone know the reasoning behind the delayed secondary?

    Quoted from phishrace:

It's designed that way so you can cradle (hold) a ball on the lower flipper during multiball and still flip (play) with the upper flipper. It's most definitely an advanced skill.

Oh man, that's crazy. I have to really try that, I feel like once you flip the secondary and want to release back to the main flipper hold you have to be so sensitive not to back off the button to far. Maybe not though.
