Quoted from mbwalker:Ditto^^ Perhaps the design could be modified to make it a little beefier and maybe print it horizontal. But even then, I'd likely just buy new and be done w/it.
Yeah I just wanted a different color. Without the snaps would be fine too, just a narrower portion to stick up through the plastic.
Quoted from RobF:My first thought is to remove the tabs from the design so it's essentially two cylinders. Print with TPU so it will never break. Make the tolerance really tight with the PCB holes. TPU is playable and a bit grippy so it will make a nice tight fit They shouldn't fall out even without the tabs. The material is tricky to print right especially with the small dimensions needed here.
IMO that would work, all the tabs do is aid in installation. I've only had a printer for like 4 days so I am new to this but I'd like to figure it out and design stuff like this myself. I'm using a resin printer too so I've got some learning to do.
Does anyone know if there is a way to convert a .sldprt into an .stl without solidworks? Or maybe I’m way off and this isn’t really a thing.
Quoted from mbwalker:Haven't tried it: https://anyconv.com/sldprt-to-stl-converter/
Or...https://all3dp.com/2/sldprt-to-stl-how-to-convert-sldprt-files-to-stl/
That worked, thank you!
Quoted from wolffcub:do you have the sdlprt file? I can convert it for you.
got the converter to work, thanks for the offer!
Quoted from Mbecker:Resin printed - yeah? Looks great!
And Aurich that hammer is killer!
Yep resin, thanks!
Quoted from sheahan2:But UV printers are really cool! Just imagine what you can do! And they are soo inexpensive now days. Its the UV ink that costs an arm and a leg...
Really not that crazy like 20$ for 1kg bottle
Quoted from Aurich:Your resin star post looks awesome, but just be aware that it's quite possible a ball strike will shatter it. Resin prints aren't nearly as strong as injection molded plastic, just dropping them can break them.
Hopefully they hold up great, just thinking if you ever want to take it to a show or something might be good to have backups on hand.
Thanks! Its surprisingly strong. I tried crushing it and hitting it with hammer, I think it will hold up just fine. If there is an issue I’ll make some a bit thicker.
I started messing with a design for a pop bumper cap for addams family last night too. Maybe in translucent black like my posts so it lights up a bit.
