This is so cool. My brother lives in Times Square. When this opens I'll have to plan a trip out there to visit.

Here's a short film of pre-Disney Times Square in the 1980s.

The Playland Arcade is featured at about 1 minute in.

    Quoted from westofrome:

Curious how time-based play is policed on a per-player basis, though. Do you wear a bracelet that starts flashing and beeping when time runs out? It's not like individual machines are equipped with login systems?

I sometimes run a time format. 3 minutes is usually a good amount. For many games that's just long enough to execute a basic strategy, for example, 2 castles on MM, or Crate Multi on SS.

I get everyone to their game assignments. They can coin up but can't hit start (a few games will autoplunge after awhile by design, and others might if there's a flaky switch).

I count down 5-4-3-2-1 GO! and everyone starts playing. I give them minute warnings, then 30 seconds then a 10 count. Then hands off.

I got timers at the dollar store. Over two years ago and they still work!
