Great stuff . Brings back some good memories . Vacationed up the road in ocean beach in the late 60*s . Parents took me to seaside heights . Not sure if we ever stopped in lavallette . Then in the 70*s stayed in p.p.b. and spent the whole summer in the arcades up there . Herman's arcade always had the latest and best pinball up there . Sure miss those days and the pizza slices the most . Thanks ...

I learned how to play pinball at the Casino Pier arcade back in the early 1960’s at a very young age with the help of a wooden milk crate. My parents loved the Casino pool which was near the entrance of the Casino arcade which I basically hung around in all day.

This picture gives you a view of the arcade which had a awesome merry go round in and many other coin op machines.

All my paper route money went in all the arcades on Seaside boardwalk. My favorite was Central Arcade which was the best because the pinball machines were 5 games for a quarter. I never played the stands or went on rides either...I for sure was an arcade rat!

Sawmill was close to the Royal Arcade where I played a Bally Dude Ranch bingo at a nickel a game. They paid you out in a case cigarettes if you won 100 replays, which I did.

Vic, I was hoping you would chime in, no pun.

I remember reading your memories of Seaside Heights and all the arcades you visited while vacationing.

    Thanks for posting.

    Vic,

I’m wondering if you ever visited Belmar Playland? That was my favorite place in the 70s and 80s.

Our next store neighbors back in the 1960’s family had a house down the shore in Belmar, but they were not into pinball.

Our family visited them one time, but I never knew there was a Belmar Playland. It would have been great to have gone there.

It was a pretty terrific place with a huge collection of pinball machines through the early 80s. I’d spent a small fortune playing Evel, Flash, Gorgar and Black Knight. It probably wasn’t much different than many of the arcades in Wildwood.

Whomever, comes up with a time machine will make a sizable fortune.
