Quoted from CaptainNeo:they were cheaper than that 7 years ago. 7 years ago they were 3k. about 4 years ago they were 4500-5000 ish.
I bought my first MM more than 7 years ago and I shopped around alot and did not find any for $3000 (couldn't find one under $4000 at the time)
My local vendors were making good coin with these on route. I paid $4200 for my first one approx 9 years ago and it was pretty beat up.
3 years ago I sold the 3rd MM that I have owned it was pristine (i believe HUO)it sold quickly for $10,000 and that was 3 years ago (I have on 3 occasions tried to buy that machine back for a $premium with no luck)
Point here is unlike Tron LE and BIB... MM price didn't just double overnite the game has stood the test of time... something you can't say for alot of other games that sell for $10,000 + today
One last note To put some more perspective on this... 9 years ago gold was just over $400 per oz so my $4200 that I spent on my MM 9 years ago would of bought me just over 10 oz of gold that is now worth approx $16,400 given what $4200 would buy 9 years ago compared to what it will by now is food for thought.
If you paid 14k for an MM today you could by 8.75 ounce of gold with that same money.
Thanks uncle Ben Berneke keep printing money and an MM will be $35k soon as our Dollar will be worthless. This link tells the story of what the dollars value has done.
