Quoted from Fizz:

Looks like it will be available from Bed Bath And Beyond as well. I don’t see it on their site yet, but might be able to use a 20% coupon on it.
I am assuming these will be cheap lower quality cabinets. But I like the small size.

20% off.... mmmm if that’s the case I have some Xmas gifts to buy I love filling up other people’s houses!

#57 5 years ago
Quoted from mettle64:

I pre-ordered a SFII and I'm curious to see how sturdy it is. I'd like to attach a french cleat and get it mounted on the wall. These are only 60 lbs or so, I'm just worried about the cabinet pulling apart.

from walmart?

Quoted from Luckydogg420:

It sounds like the controls are proprietary, not off the shelf. But they are supposed to feel like the originals. The street fighter cabinets first run has ball top joysticks, but future runs will have bat style joysticks like most North American games.
In the video he shows pics of a couple unannounced cabinets. Mortal Kombat in one. Shinobi and streets of rage in another. Marvel vs capcom in another. So their 2019 lineup looks better then these. IMHO

cool! I bet someone could still hack new sticks or buttons in.

I really want a few of these but want to wait to see what people say about the quality... when are they supposed to start shipping?

EDIT: looks like September 27th

Riser ships oct 17th

Can you link to this movie? I cant find it. Thanks

Anyone see the leaked images of more cabs?

This is off the toy room YT

#263 5 years ago

I don’t even know how you guys see that stuff lol. I can only make out the first 4

#353 5 years ago
Quoted from Luckydogg420:

I doubt that we’ll see a plug and play mod like that. These look pretty locked down. One youtuber took it apart and there’s no usb connection on the board. You’d have to solder a connection to get access first.
I wonder about the screen. It’s connected by a ribbon cable so the video processing might even be on the main board and not on the screen. You might even need an lcd controller to connect it to a raspberry pi.
It looks easy to switch out the buttons and joysticks, but the size might be an issue.

Ya the control panel is easy to replace parts but with ribbon cables, that could be possible to find the pinout and replace their board with a pi, or if their board leaves pads for uart that can be debugged.... it will be much easier to say once the board is in someone’s hands

#429 5 years ago

If you’re worried about price and such, there’s a new arcade for you, for 1 easy payment of $20!!!

As long as the build and button/joystick quality is ok. I’m buying some for a friend and my kid. I have zero worry someone will replace the stock cpu and put a pi in it. I mean you literally could just bring the buttons to the pi and hack the lcd....

Wonder if you hack a mini fridge into one of these like they are doing with the new namco pixel bash machines.

That’s actually a decent use of that space. Haha.

#640 5 years ago

Did the "fix" for the control panel ship yet? I'm kind of waiting to buy them, until the store stock has all the fixes in them.

#647 5 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:

Not me. I got an email saying they are not sure replacing the control panel would fix it. They are still looking into it.

Man, so it’s buy now and wait, or wait months and buy. Mmm want to give two to different friends as gifts for Xmas...so I have a game to play when I visit :-p I suppose In home use it probably won’t get worn much

#649 5 years ago
Quoted from HighProtein:

$150 by Christmas

These are gonna be the hot item for Xmas.... probably jump up the last final days before Xmas.

#673 5 years ago

Series/wave 2 you think will be announced after Xmas for sure? I’d suspect they want to get these sold for the holiday season. I’m excited to see what is next Vs the poll they took of newer games

#676 5 years ago

My Walmart was stocked!!! Went in for oil filters..... wanted to pick these up but may wait to see how they pan out with a pi etc

There was never a rom made for gauntlet that was three player. Only 2 or 4.

#808 5 years ago
Quoted from Irishbastard:

GameStop has these for $209.99 now (free shipping) (sale price reflected in cart)....

Holy smokes!

Just looked in the app. Only SF2 and asteroids are available for me, but that is a screaming deal

Yes!!!!! This is the perfect mix! Details?!

#926 5 years ago

I don’t get these people finding “clearance” prices, my local Walmart’s are back to $299. So no more sale here..... I heard many were at $200 after cyber Monday, and I was going to see about getting one but alas no sale here

#929 5 years ago

That first pic looks photoshopped.... the price and name, pacman arcade ? yet it is all galaga's

#932 5 years ago

Me too. I'm gonna run to walmart just to physically verify, however also on reddit people post their walmart's selling games early...but that is NEVER where I am :-p

#933 5 years ago
Quoted from Pickle:

Hitting Total Wine this morning and will pop into Kohl’s and Walmart right next door and let you know what I see....may run to HEBas well just for the hell of it.....don’t need one but at under $200could be novel to have one.

Let us know! I'll buy a few today if they are 200. Otherwise I'm just waiting a little longer.... I really want one/a few though

#965 5 years ago

I used those brickseek links above and one of the arcades was $50 less than the rest but only at 1 Walmart near me. There are 4 Walmart’s within 30 min.....

#967 5 years ago

I’m seeing the riser for $39 now. Wasn’t it $49 when it was launched?

#977 5 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

Take retail price and divide by 3.

Decent rule. Walmart only wants to sell if it has X profit for them. They are a shitty retailer to put product in if you have tight margins.....

#986 5 years ago

March is so far away

#999 5 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

Shipping alone would be $400.
It's got to be UPS shippable to be anywhere near this price point.
=
You can buy full sized arcade cabs with 60 or 144 games for ~$1400 to your door

I would add, Chicago gaming has sold these home units for years....

#1025 5 years ago
Quoted from thundergod76:

I have 2 drummers stools for my multicade. They're not too expensive, have cushion and are adjustable. Something like these...
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Mapex/Round-Top-Lightweight-Drum-Throne.gc
Also, I can confirm based on personal experience and talking with 3 Wal-Mart managers that everything in this video is accurate.

That guy is ridiculous. He has zero idea wtf he is talking about. He’s never tried one, he doesn’t know how Walmart sells product. And just claims “people” told me. “Lots of people”, “lots of Walmart’s”. No, he just wants views for his YT.

#1035 5 years ago
Quoted from alveolus:

Would love to be able to add an aftermarket spinner and be able to tweak the sensitivity.

Someone added an alitmarc but not sure on the emulators settings

#1038 5 years ago
Quoted from alveolus:

I’ve seen the one on YouTube. The guy did the calibration by making his own optical disc. I am hoping to avoid that headache.

True, that is the big diy project. Rather have more of a plug n play.

#1040 5 years ago
Quoted from stangbat:

Here's how to add the USB port that will let you hook up a keyboard and adjust sensitivity:
https://imgur.com/gallery/9J77bht
He specifically mentions the trackball in the write up, but same should apply to the spinner. Will be interesting to see how this works out.

What?! Yaaaaa! That’s awesome!!!!!

#1043 5 years ago
Quoted from alveolus:

Brilliant!
Now who will be the first to try this with an Ultimarc spinner on Tempest?

I asked the guy (RepairCelt) on YT, he even tried, but had a failed board.

"RepairCelt

Oh, the chance is very high. So high that I tried it yesterday. Unfortunately, something went wrong with my board at some point and it will no longer power up.

I don't think it was the mod itself that killed it. Might be somethibg in the way I handled the board.

I was very excited to be able access the sensitivity settings and Quantum was the game I was most interested in adjusting. But, it was not meant to be."

#1078 5 years ago
Quoted from swillie:

Honestly, and i think these cabs are cool...buy an empty arcade cab and spend the $$$ saved on better quality controls.

Ya, I almost agree, unless you are tied to that form factor arcade 1up has, there are multiple flat pack cabinets or even taking a old game and gutting it may be a better option for the robustness?

#1218 5 years ago
Quoted from Lithonion:

So far, "leaked" as we all know leaked on purpose.... Arcade1up Cocktails will be at CES as well as new cabs with 27 new titles licensed for 2019
Not sure on how many cabs that will be at CES and if all new titles will be presented. We will see if this is just a rumor mill to get hyped up for Arcade1Up at CES. CES is Jan 9th so not that far out.
[quoted image]

I’ll check when I’m at ces and get pics

#1224 5 years ago

Arcade1up’s booth at ces is freaking huge compared to most in the video game/vr area, even sterns booth is tiny. I assume they’ll use their mushroom one from last year.

That’s all I got to know.

No :/

#1351 5 years ago
Quoted from Luckydogg420:

I’m just saying if you were to randomly pick someone in this thread and send them pics through private message. They would assume that they belong here, and the pics might just get posted. Just sayin. Wink wink.

It’s just 27 ish more hours

#1357 5 years ago

Curious if the price is different if it is only 1 game :/

#1361 5 years ago

Mmmm....still a few more titles to announce and a lot of new stuff

#1364 5 years ago

All cabs come with that new clear protector for the control panel.

#1392 5 years ago

Holy crap it isn’t over. A few more new product were setup. You guys are gonna love tomorrow this is going to be a big day for them tomorrow

#1400 5 years ago

Did anyone hear arcade 1up is going to cancel production of wave 1 games when they start wave 2? Seems odd... unless their line is like one at a time

#1408 5 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

That's what they said, that the first ones would go out of production.
Spring and Fall releases

Damn, I’m gonna have to buy some.

Quoted from merccat:

I think that centepede/asteroids cocktail table is calling me.

The cocktails have different game bundles, it was weird. I’ll get pics tomorrow for you of the lists but it was different than the stand ups

#1413 5 years ago

Arcade 1up leaked a few of the new cabs....

#1424 5 years ago

The cocktails seem smaller than normal. They also bundle a bunch of games on, more like a 12-1.

I figured GT would be a good one for people on this forum. GT 98, 99, 2k and classic.

The game list on KC still hasn’t been seen yet I guess, but I hope you like burgers and caves

Be prepared for new “cab” styles and tons of fun toys

#1427 5 years ago

Pretty sure space invaders is just SI and SI color. I didn’t see any other games on the cab

#1431 5 years ago
Quoted from Matesamo:

Just got the email; Karate Champ, Bad Dudes, Burger Time and Cave Man Ninja. I may be able to skip this one since it won’t have the Burger Time art on the cabinet. Whew.

You can always do the after market cab art

#1432 5 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:

Any news on prices? With all the holiday sales of $100 or more off, I'm not going to rush out and buy another for $300.

They will retail wave two and wave one will probably clearance out only to make room for the new games. I wouldn’t expect too much discount(s). But that’s just my opinion, sales at each store vary

#1433 5 years ago

Here it is

Final Fight Cabinet (February): Final Fight, 1944, Ghosts ‘N Goblins, Strider
Space Invaders Cabinet (February): Space Invaders Color, Space Invaders Black and White
Golden Tee Cabinet (June): GT Classic ’01, Golden Tee ‘2k, Golden Tee ’99, Golden Tee ’98
Mortal Kombat Cabinet (September): Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 3
Karate Champ Cabinet (September): Karate Champ, Bad Dudes, Burger Time, Caveman Ninja
WALL-CADES:
These retro gaming systems are portable and designed to be hung on a wall or door, with authentic gameplay in a showpiece form.
COUNTER-CADES
Ideal to place on a desk or tabletop to display and play, players who desire a sizable collection will save space.
Arcade1Up will unveil the Wall-cades and Counter-cades with a full gaming experience at the ShowStoppers booth E-15 and E-17 and at CES booth #21454 located in the south hall.

More titles for fall will be announced at E3 in June.

#1434 5 years ago

There are a ton of plushies, wall art, wall led art and more.

#1445 5 years ago
Quoted from alveolus:

Any pics from their booth?

I’ll go get some. I’m surprised there isn’t more of this and Munsters

#1457 5 years ago

Here’s some pics

Cocktail cab felt a little flimsy and short. Monitor is split into two sides.

Mk2 was nice, has a run button for 3.

Special risers for certain games.

I tried the track ball again. Ya it feels good. I haven’t tried their first one though....

Quoted from merccat:

They must be prototypes since there is no info about them on their site and no pricing info. Hopefully they re-evauate plastic tops.

Ya most their stuff was “not done” and awaiting approval etc. even the PONG bar top was a prototype unit at the show. Had USB ports and they are removing those for retail.

Playing MK just reminded me how bad I am at the old games I used to enjoy...lol I didn’t even remember 1 move for reptile

#1546 5 years ago
Quoted from LoveNeverDiesGuy:

"Sh@t just got real"
Did I just see SFIII 3rd Strike and SF Alpha on the cocktail table box.
Was it on the actual table top machine or is it some sort of add on?
What's going on?
Input on this please. thx!

Ya long list of sf games on that box.

#1582 5 years ago
Quoted from winteriscoming:

I have a cnc machine, so I figured I'd take a stab at making my own control panel protector for SF2. It would be easy to make a completely new control panel, too. Heck, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to make a complete cab using my SF2 as a model, but it's so much easier and probably cheaper buying the pre-made cabinets from arcade1up.
[quoted image]

Good work! Wonder if yours will fit nicer. They left way too big a hole at the joysticks.

Looking over arcade 1ups games at ces. Their clear protector and control panels alignment was really hit or miss :/ so I wonder if their control panel cuts are off.

#1586 5 years ago
Quoted from winteriscoming:

I've been measuring to make it fit my control panel panel as close as possible. Some buttons are slightly skewed left or right a tad, so I guess there were loose tolerances in their manufacturing process, meaning they had to create a protector that would account for all the slop.

Ya, almost seems like you have to make it on an individual basis :/ if they had designed it from the start, the. The plexi could of been the top so not loose holes.

Maybe a better option is thin pteg then the clear top could be a tight fit and no holes around buttons/joystick?

#1664 5 years ago

I "spun" the spinner at CES....JFC, it isn't a spinner, it is a knob that moves/clicks. it is bad, if the original games actually spun, this isn't anything like it.

#1665 5 years ago
Quoted from konghusker:

Just picked up 4 of these at Walmart for $179/each. Asteroids, rampage, pacman, and street fighter. Going to keep them in box while I decide if I really want to start collecting these things. They look pretty cool, but the purist collector in me still struggles with not getting original cabs. At least I have them at the discount price before they're gone.

nice! they are all full price with 1 or 2 at 200, near me :/

#1688 5 years ago

I stayed out of the loop, any online deals? The best I see is $200 for sf2 and rampage at walmart within a hour of me.

However I’m thinking of getting sf2, putting a pi3 in it, upgrade controls and then look into adding light guns.... anyone see light guns added? Ultimarc has them for $95 and the old arcade shooters would be a blast.

#1744 5 years ago
Quoted from callaway15:

are these being discontinued, from what I'm reading on this thread?

The first wave, is not being produced once wave two is shipping. So if someone wanted a asteroids or rampage etc, get it soon.

#1788 5 years ago
#1810 5 years ago

Just ordered the asteroids cab for my BFF that grew up with one in his bedroom. I remember playing it every time I was over there. He has kids now, so it will be a nice surprise for him

Now to find one for me.....

If they made a smaller virtual pinball machine for around $300, that would be pretty cool.

Could be a licensing issue unless they just allowed TPA or zen. But left the ability to “hack” your own on.

I played it at ces.

cool .. how did you like it (or not )?

It reminded me of streets of rage. The joystick and buttons felt cheap (normal for arcade 1up) but I liked the game as I love SoR. I think they had it in the karate champ cab. So I hope it gets a different cab/theme.

Walmart close to work had 1 asteroids and 1 centipede for $150 each.

Wasn’t planning on getting them but at the price it’s decent. I was planning on a MK and FF cab as well

I think 1up sells the happ track ball they sell in GT for centipede? Worth getting theirs or go aftermarket? I’ll have to see how many spinner mods there are and get one.

I just ordered a replacement spinner for my Asteroids. I just paid $95 buck to replace one control on a $199 game. Ouch!
But... Tempest was hard to play with the cheap, stock dial. I started on the hardest level and it just didn’t have the resolution and responsiveness to play at that level of difficulty.

Spinner starts at $69, was it shipping or did you get some upgrades?

I just setup my astroids...WOW the spinner is super garbage. I didn't think it was that bad at CES. Wonder if they used their new "upgraded" one at CES. I still find the final fight one, the best out of my three..very fun.

Quoted from Aurich:

The one thing I don't get about these cabs, because a lot of the other decisions I understand for cost and size reasons, is why the risers weren't designed to lock in *inside* the cab bottom, instead of looking goofy on the outside like that. It's just a really dumb look, and these would be pretty sweet little cabaret style games with just a seam where the bottom stand attached if they'd done it that way.
Probably not that hard to solve yourself, have to look at the underside of the games, but a pain, and you gotta handle your own art etc. Should have just done it right in the first place.

I think they were an afterthought :/ They do give screws to screw them together but I agree they should lock without having to drill/screw them

Two new 4 player, new track ball, a game I bet no one thought would and then a new two player joystick that is going to be awesome sauce. Didn’t see the pins but everyone’s booth is 1/2 setup. Ok, so you have inside info I'm guessing?

If the 2 stick game is Smash TV, I will be so hype.

I’m at ces.

So nba jam allows online play....... this will be awesome

#2836 4 years ago

Oops I posted in the pinball one

I played altered beast and the lag or poor button response was sooooo freaking bad :/ I played a ton on genesis and I swear it was more Responsive than what I played

1 week later
#2838 4 years ago
Quoted from Diospinball:

If it lags during altered beast, then its really going to be laggy for death adder.
My pi plays the mame altered beast and first golden axe at the proper frame rates.
But, death adder has slow down that is near constant and at like 3/4 speed so the game is unplayable.
If that is true. I won't be buying the sega one. But, I really would like that one...
One thing I will say. For the big reveal. A whole lot of incomplete games and not actually a proper new wave.
Really bad reveal or showing if you ask me.
The pinball cabs. Could be cool. But, need to be able to load other games onto them. And no one can see the real gameplay. Also, the dmd resolution was wrong.
Frogger. Not original music. So WHY BOTHER with that one. Pick a game you can emulate correct. For clarity. I was not bothered with TMNT sound swap. As that is not played during the game. But, frogger's music is so important to that game. To change that, is a big deal.
NBA jam. Won't be the full teams or all the original rosters. Sure it'll have online play... But, what happens 4-10 years from now, when a1up goes belly up and doesn't want to host the servers.
Sega cab... I don't know if it is laggy. But, it could be. They released Gauntlet laggy and broken. So who knows.
Burger time. We knew this was coming last year. And now its here, but only in limited quantities. So if anything. Its a bit of a step back from what they promised last year.
And that was it. Not a whole lot of cool surprises. No light gun games. No new atari games really. No Simpsons, no X-men.
Really, really big build up. For a whole lot of nothing.
I was hoping for more.

To the non arcade enthusiast that was a massive showing by 1up..... and they’ll sell like crazy with out us still...I don’t think the mass majority of buyers even know what the original frogger music should be and probably won’t care that some roster lists changed on nba jam. Specially with online, now everyone and their friends will get it to play. But like you stated how long will it work online?

I hope they fix the lag or it was a fluke but man that made altered beast play horrible.

I had 6, and never played them, so I’ve been selling off the cabs. I’ll keep 1 or 2 and will probably modify so I don’t have only 4 games. I love the size just need the fun games I like. I did see a pic of bbh but I didn’t see it at ces, even before the show. So other it was a photoshop or they did it like last year and it was a prototype for showing behind closed doors

#2840 4 years ago
Quoted from Diospinball:

I have 10 a1up cabs. I like them a lot. But, I also want quality emulation. They have lots of stupid mistakes. From the millipede screen in the 12 in 1 being too stretched. There is a fix... Haven't done it yet.
Once you mod the 12 in 1 with the spinner and trackball its amazing.
Golden tee is awesome.
Star Wars emulation is almost as good as the original. And with the originals being super rare and expensive the a1ups are really the way to go.
Final fight is pretty much flawless.
Turtles, I wish had the scan line option. But, otherwise besides the missing song is awesome. Missing song doesn't bother me. As it doesn't impact game.
Only issue I have with pacman is. Should have more games on it.
I really want a berserk and frenzy cab. Those are two of my favorite games ever. And also a robotron and smash tv cab and X-men.

Just curious why you dont have only a handful of diff cabs and then mod those to have similar games with a better SOM than what ships on the 1up

#2845 4 years ago
Quoted from Diospinball:

SOM???
Not sure what that means.
As for not modding these games to feature more games.
I could. I wouldn't put a pi in them. Pi's have a bit of slowdown issues. But, the main reason is I like dedicated cabs.
Look at the issue with defender on rampage cab for a1up. Defender is playable... Sure... But, its a hassle and for a game that fast paced it makes playing it seriously for points impossible.
So. I could modify my cabs with the 6 button layouts be for the 4-6 button games. Put sunset riders on the 4 player turtles... Can't put x-men as you need another button.
Could make even the turtles into the twin stick games...
But, again... I just really like dedicated layouts for my games. So that I don't have to fiddle around and remember which buttons do which, and how many are active in each game.
Plus. I like how they look. I do. But, I will get one major and massive multicade. Because, well... There will always be great games that I'd like to play like Enforce, and cloak and dagger, that won't get released by companies like a1up.
Also, I am lazy.
I work a 9-5 job as a crappy computer tech. And so I don't like to tinker when I go home on such things.
And then when I get home I run my indie comic business. Its not a big business, but I'm proud of it, and while I need my 9-5 to pay for my health insurance and pension. It does take in a good bit of money. So that takes up another 20-60 hours a week. Depending on the week.

Som is a system on a module, so something like a pi.

They make the whole control deck replacement so you can just toss a new one on, but I get having dedicated.

#2852 4 years ago
Quoted from chooch:

Does anyone have the Final Fight cab and if so how are you liking it? I currently have 5 machines however they are all in a box still since I haven't had time to build them.
Street Fighter and MK I got on sale and I planned on keeping for the nostalgia. I have dedicated machines but like how small these are can easily be moved around. I have played SF but didn't like the feel of the joystick so have a feeling I will need to replace them along with the ones in my MK to make them feel more like the originals. If anyone has done this already and could give some advise on which sticks and buttons are the best to by I would appreciate it. I know there is a lot of info on modding these but I haven't had time to read all the groups.
Asteroids - Purchased on sale with plans to modify with something like Pandora's box for horizontal games.
Galaga - Purchased on sale with plans to modify into 60-1 for vertical games.
I grabbed Final Fight cause it was on sale at the time but didn't know if I should keep or just return considering I could probably just play those games on the Pandora's box. My favorite game on there is probably Ghosts N' Goblins however I heard all 4 games are pretty solid and it's one of the better groups of games in a single machine.

One of the better cabs with stock games that are fun. Sold most of my other ones but kept that one

Me too :/ no deals even close.

Star Wars or tmnt would be a fun one to get

#2937 3 years ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

I've got my Pi'd out SFII cab, which has all the games that I would want, but I see people with collections of these things. Lots of them are rethemed and heavily modded and a $200 cab ends up with $400+ worth of mods. At the end of the day, the only thing that's stock is the cabinet itself. At a certain point, you would think to make a template and start cutting your own. Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
Now mind you, I've upgraded my joysticks and will upgrade my buttons, but that's only because the stock joystick and buttons are junk.

I sold a bunch of mine off because I didn't and knew I wouldn't play them. I kept my rampage, final fight and centipede. I was thinking I would just have 1 to mod and all the games on there, what really is the point of 20 1up's taking up space? its that collecting shiny object thing...people just love to buy/have new stuff....

#2944 3 years ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

Exactly, it's the "rush" of buying something and having it. Then it wears off and people are left with modded games that they're trying to sell for what they put into it. Same as pinball, except pinball holds it's value most of the time (minus mods).

Yup! I would buy any cab at $50 though. It is worth the few hours I'd play. I saved one centipede to mod, but have not had time to do what I want yet....need to test one more thing.

Quoted from mkecasey:

Supposedly AtGames has a virtual pinball coming out in Q4 as well and the leaked specs look promising. 32" playfield screen (larger than A1U's) and it's a little bit taller than A1U's. Most importantly it'll have the functionality to bring your own games (BYOG) and it'll have wifi capabilities. So if you buy Pinball Arcade and Zen games through Steam, you should be able to load them onto your game. This is exactly what I want. I don't want multiple virtual pinball machines in my house. Give me one and let me load it up! So I'm holding out hope that AtGames delivers a great product this fall/winter.

Yup, once I saw you can BYOG, I figured I'd wait for At Games, however, their quality is usually junk, so we shall see. However their Legends arcade cab has some praises too.....

Quoted from Luckydogg420:

He also mentioned for the light gun there working with a new company that doesn’t need a sensor bar. It looks to be quite interesting.
https://www.sindenlightgun.com/

I remember when the guy from euro who created it was talking about doing this. Here is where he explains it. I feel like this is different tech than when he started years ago. I'm just happy someone is working on something. I know a team was working on the DC to convert its light guns to lcd.

TLDR: Uses a camera in the tip of the gun to sense the LCD screen corners, and where it is pointing at. Uses software to convert the pointed at, to a mouse cursor then uses software to calculate where on the screen it's shooting. Clever idea actually, and I remember when this was first announced it was mame or pc only for prototype.

Yeah, new method of how it works. However there will be have to be processing time. The delay may be the same or less. No IR though, but the light gun has to support the game to be able to be used.

Quoted from nicoga3000:

I kind of want to order the BBH A1UP since I'll never find myself purchasing a real unit. Curious about how much "game" is there?

I've owned a BBH World the real one...f that thing is heavy. So its technically 2 games, pro and safari however they threw in the 2 "dlc's" so its the full version of pro and safari. It is pretty fun to play alone 1-2 play throughs of each, however as a party game or if you have kids, its a blast. The only issue I had was people who were playing 2 player and were not good, or were not competitive would get easily upset if they played against someone good and they never shot a lot of the animals.

I would love to get this small version...I'd be curious how long it takes the rom to leak....as this is the 1st time these games are playable on non PC hardware with usb key lock...Unless they change the way this game runs.

#3028 3 years ago
Quoted from Luckydogg420:

The demos for the light gun tech were pretty impressive, I think it will be an enjoyable experience.

The kid that made it started years ago. I remember him posting it on reddit and I asked a bunch of questions because he was hiding some things he did. The software on his end basically has to support the game, at least back then. So I'm excited for BBH but it will be more exciting to see more gun games, the roms being pulled off the A1up boards and put in mame and what people can do to modify via pc.

#3032 3 years ago
Quoted from Luckydogg420:

I’m pretty sure they found a way to insert borders onto the screen. All the tech is in the gun and it watches the borders to aim the gun. I was watching a video a while ago that had it working with an emulator on multiple systems. If I recall correctly

The gun has a camera, and senses the tv and keeps tabs on it. That allows you to move around and not have to “re-aim” like a wiimote. Then there is a som that does the calculations on where the gun is pointing and where you’re shooting. I would assume it’s similar but his first gen had to only work on pc, and had to support games.

#3034 3 years ago
Quoted from Lithonion:

I got mine day one on release. I love it and have had no issues so far. Glen Planamento also has an aftermarket Yoke he helped design if you want to really upgrade it to something that is much more robust. It's currently sold out but he said more are on the way.

Glen helped make the a1up yoke, but is glens yoke even better? I could imagine as the a1up is as cheap as they could

Anyone tried these? I'm thinking about ordering two to use on a gaming PC/projector/emulator

Are these still going on fire sale(s)? I haven’t seen any at the old $75-150 range anymore unless used
