GameStop has the Asteroids cabinet on sale. About $175 shipped.

I just saw that Best Buy will pricematch GameStop with free shipping, you can avoid $12.99...to late for me as I have already bought through GameStop.

Donkey Kong would be cool

Although they are toys, they are original gameplay to the arcade, unlike those toy pins that have no nostalgia associated with them. These toys scratch an itch for a lot of us.

Quoted from woody24:

Asteroids must have been selling pretty good at Gamestop. Looks like the price is up to $200 now.

If you add it to the cart it’s still $150 thru Feb 2nd

Received my Asteroids from GameStop, opened it up but no protector in the box...hopefully it doesn’t take long to receive it. I will assemble tomorrow.

Maybe I will just do this

Married Dad here reporting . Built this with my kids today. First took apart the control panel to spray it like Luckydogg420

I had to use gloss and I think it turned out great. Yeah I am not the best with a spray can but I think I accomplished the job good enough for what it is and it will be protected. Kids had a lot of fun building it as well as I did and it plays great. The spinner is garbage but it works and I might upgrade it later or research the penny trick or adding washers that I have seen on the Facebook fan page. $150 I will say this is well worth that in entertainment value. It’s nice having a fun retro cabinet that’s brand new and smells good.

When the table tops come out I will surely buy one and try and put a raspberry pi in it or something. My girls want frogger and I wouldn’t mind Donkey Kong and Space Ace if I can figure out how to get that going. Too Cool and I give these cabs a big thumbs up.

Don’t know about Street Fighter but my Asteroids cabinet is pretty damn sturdy and I don’t see it rocking at all. Guess you could always put a cinder block in the bottom of your cabinet

Red Barron is awesome, a sit down used to be in the Arcade when I was growing up. Played it again at Arcade Expo 3.0 in banning.

Yeah Omega race was a great game my childhood arcade had a sit down version too also pole position sit down.

Quoted from vid1900:

It's just like any other toy.
I bought my nieces each a $300 Barbie Cadillac Escalade for Christmas.
In a few years they will outgrow them, and then will throw them into the dumpster.
I won't shed a tear that it was money wasted, because they are having fun with them right now.[quoted image]

Oh the humanity! You realize those don’t drive like a real Escalade don’t you. I’m headed to the Cadillac forums.

Quoted from Nepi23:

Anyone put a mylar sheet over the console panel instead of using a deck protector and how did it work out? Pics please!

This is the way I did mine and it came out perfect. I am sure Mylar would work as well. Here’s mine and the post that lead me to do it this way.

My wife surprised me with my first Arcade1up yesterday. I'm pretty impressed with this thing. Plus, NBA Jam is so much fun.[quoted image][quoted image]

Did you add the control panel lighting or is that standard?

#2991 3 years ago

There is one on Craigslist for $400 with a stool...good price?
