That table-top Defender caught my eye. That control panel is so important since there are so many buttons. If it had Defender and Defender II (Stargate) on it, it would be a must-buy. Then again, the 19in1 jamma boards have both...and more. Hmmmmmm

There’s some good pics about 2min into this video. Karate champ has 4 joysticks

#1453 6 months ago

I started to freak out about the current machines being discontinued and started hitting the local retailers. Got lucky at Marshalls. $199.

Oh, and I am going to need to get a new spinner pronto. I was hoping someone would give feedback about the Spintrak. It looks like it will have to be me

#1455 6 months ago

Hows the trackball on that?

There's a direct replacement in the works on the Facebook group.

Here’s some pics

Cocktail cab felt a little flimsy and short. Monitor is split into two sides.

Mk2 was nice, has a run button for 3.

So, we know the new release dates. Do we know the discontinuation dates for the old/current models?

Any idea what the screen size is for the wall-cades?

Too impatient. Ordered the Spintrak.

#1462 6 months ago

Any more info on those marquees hanging on the wall? Hoping for an aftermarket backlit option.

I could be wrong but Pretty sure they are just tin signs like the ones I saw for sale at Wallmart by the games.

#1464 6 months ago

That Defender looks tempting. Button placement is important on this one. Glad to see the company busy w/new stuff coming out. Very interesting.

#1465 6 months ago

I have scoured the local Marshalls and TJ Max stores for the 12 in 1, but no luck. I am hoping the price comes down on the ones at Khols. They have been sitting on 5 of them since before Christmas. $350 still seems kind of high right now, especially since prices have been going down on the other games.

#1466 6 months ago

The copyright screen on karate champ is weird.
I guess not enough people complained about the volume control being a button instead of knob.
For the MK cab they should add vanilla 3 just because they can.
The bartops look neat but the cocktails look dumb, they should have cut down the bezel size and added a larger screen.

The wife paid full price at Khols but got a bunch of Khols cash so it brought the price down quite a bit + we shop there frequently.

The 12 in 1 would have been my choice of the 1st batch, unfortunately they are USA only. Walmart is the exclusive dealer in Canada.

I’m hoping I can find one at Marshall’s here they might get some.

I found it interesting that some of those have a sign that says “pending licensor approval release date tbd”. Does that mean they are still negotiating the rights and trying to come to an agreement? Did they build one up as a test before even getting official permission?

It would be interesting to know all of the various companies that hold the rights to these popular arcade games, and what they are doing with those rights. Some of them are obvious, others were sold to different players over the years so might be harder to trace. It also would be interesting to know what the licensing price is to sell the game on a platform like this. Is it a one time flat price, or a per-unit price? Or maybe both?

Who do they think they are, a pinball startup?

#1471 6 months ago

I'm hoping they have the sense to ditch the ball-tops on the MK for production...

#1472 6 months ago

Let me ask a intentionally dumb question as I don't recall from my childhood. Are the SF2 and MK cabs normally a square gate on the joystick or were they more an octagon? I was thinking square but at an arcade last night I played a real MK and SF2 and the gate wasn't square so it was easier for me to complete some moves. Just not sure if those were replaced with a different design since they are so old now thus the question. If they normally came with the octagon any suggestions for a decent replacement? I'm not looking to go all out as I'm obviously not an arcade guru but the gameplay felt smoother so I'd like to change to that style if I can.

#1473 6 months ago

In N/A standard was happ and IL bat joys (supers, comps)... Not really gated in the same way as Japanese controls. The standard for fight sticks and Japanese controls in general on candy cabs etc is square. From what I gather 1up is basically using knock off sanwa jlf sticks?

#1474 6 months ago

The Golden Tee looks awesome with an authentic Happ trackball. Very cool !! I bet a Dig Dug cabinet is in the works as they have it built for the counter cade. Defender looks great too, the button configuration is right on ( hyperspace is a little high on the CP ) no biggy. Throw some Stargate on there( add inviso button ) , and ya really got something there.

#1475 6 months ago

How do you play Bad Dudes with the Karate Champ dual joysticks?

#1476 6 months ago

NBA Jam?

The Wallcades could be the coolest thing shown.

My favorite that wasn’t covered in here yet was the “hidden” DELUXE Capcom cocktail.
I’ll be in for an upright of that one for sure!

Yeah,
Technically it’s Instaspam but agree with the sentiment nonetheless.

Is there a difference?
Both of them can get off my damn digital lawn so I can enjoy my supposedly outdated B&W Munsters Premium in peace! *shakes LED’d lucite Zuse/Castor cane*

Wait, what, what a weird game list. And what is Fatal Fury doing in there? So confused.

#1497 6 months ago

I’m guessing they meant to put Final Fight in there instead of Fatal Fury?
They both start with F right?
This is what happens when you play “Tastemaker” instead of “Hardcore Arcade Gaming Nerd.”

It sort of makes sense since they have CvS in there, but I'm surprised to see that title, that's a Naomi game, didn't think their emulation would handle that.

The happ will spin for a good second or two. The real happ balls are easy to take apart and lube up, so even if they’re not the greatest out of the box, you’ll be able to get it rolling like a champ. It’s just a couple screws. You can change the ball colour. Put in a transparent one and add a light under the ball. A real happ ball is a bonus. In my one MAME I use an Ultimarc ball, I would also recommend that one, but Happ is better.

I’m just happy to finally see Hyper in the mix.
Sad it wasn’t included in the first run.
If they can get Alpha 3, or 2 Gold with some 3rd Strike instead of just III, then I might have to sell off my Big Blue to accommodate the growing wall of them.

At least the MK cab is on point.
Now that I know it’ll come out later in the year, I can finally brush up on all the Fatalities and other secret stuff I’ve forgotten over these past 20+ years!
