Quoted from Cam:

Has anybody seen them discounted in Canada yet?

I saw Walmart in regina online has SFII for $399 I think

#1152 5 years ago
Quoted from Malenko:

From what I read Walmart isnt happy with the number of returns and is getting rid of inventory.

That's reportedly the reason Costco decided not to carry them.

Given they were going to carry the pre-assembled version I'm guessing they didn't want to risk the square footage.

#1153 5 years ago

If you are near Buffalo - $150 at this store.

Most major credit cards have "price protection" or "price rewind". If you purchase something and find it cheaper at a later date(usually 30-60 days) they will refund the difference. I have used it multiple times. Check your credit card's website for details.

#1155 5 years ago

I am waiting for $150, which I believe we will hit by February. These are just not worth $200 or $250 in my opinion.

#1156 5 years ago

Does anyone happen to know if you can easily rotate the monitor on the street fighter cabinet to vertical orientation? It looks like the Galaga and Pacman use vertical ones but it would be nice to have that street fighter control panel for a conversion.

I think that price point will hit closer to early January and once stock is gone at Walmart I don't think its ever coming back.

I was just at Walmart and looked at one of these 1Up Arcades. What a cheap POS. I noticed wear all around the buttons, so I went up to check it out. I digged my finger nail into top panel and it literally scrapped away paint. Is it even worth $200? I don't think so, don't be a cheap ass-just save up and buy a real arcade like CGC Ultimate Arcade-imo

they are definitely a toy, not meant for pin collectors as a staple of the home arcade. I have a capcom big blue for all my fighting game needs. i wanted one to mod for my 6 and 4 year old nephews, but the street fighter ii is the only one with a good control panel for a multigame and appears sold out everywhere.

the control panel overlays are trashed on the displays but they are sending out a plastic overlay to protect em for free for anyone who requests one via their website.

Hindsight- I wonder how many returns, etc. they could have prevented by simply adding a plastic overlay protector. People's perception when they see the paint coming right off after a few plays-This game is a POS-Im taking it back! I thought about one for my kids room but said na I will stick with console games for his room for now. By the way I still need to come up and see you for helping mod my consoles.

yeah, agree that it is a pretty bad indication of quality.

im guessing people who buy them and dont know how to upgrade the stock joystick and buttons are gonna be pretty bummed when they crap out half way thru January and their return date is probably expired.

if you are ever up north let me know and we can play some pin!

#1162 5 years ago

I'm clear coating my panel when I open it up on Xmas. I'm planning to steal the dimensions for all of their panels and stuff too, so I can cut more of these size cabs if I want.

#1163 5 years ago

well aint that some shit. the 199 sale is over, now they are 249 and sfii is in stock online again.

hmmm. not fishy at all. guess they had x amount to sell at 199 and once they met that number they marked them sold out...

Just there myself, tried the "finger nail test"....Dam, the CP is like a lottery scratch ticket! Wtf were they thinking with that stupidity....good thing they are sending out free protectors, but someone dropped the ball on that...

If you want authentic, cover them with Mylar, same as I did with the real arcade control panels back in the day.

The newest stock has plexi overlays, and the old stock they will send you a free plexi panel and artwork.

Can you digged it?

Horse=beaten. The buzzards have ripped its flesh from its bones and the worms have eaten what's left.

#1167 5 years ago

I think $150 will be my magic number for the SFII cabinet. $100 for the other ones.

We also have Final Fight to look forward to coming out this Spring. Wonder if it will start at $300, or be lowered to $200.

Just looked up Brickseek, and looks like a Walmart close to me has them all marked at $150. SFII sold out, but looks like they have all the other ones.

Gorf/Tron/Satan's Hollow will be great too I imagine

Well, I buckled and went last night to score the Wallyworld Pac Man for $150 and managed to find the Deluxe 12 at a Kohl’s for $349-$120 Kohl’s cash I had banked.

Not too shabby for the kids and the trackball is decent enough to get my Missile Command on.
I did the lockwasher with electrical tape trick to get the spinner up off the panel and remove some of the excess slop.
Obviously it’s a cheap Atari paddle spinner but now it does the job a tiny bit better.

Here’s hoping the modding community has a better plug and play spinner down the road.

a guy on youtube is building a better inexpensive spinner specifically for the arcade 1 up, he said he should have a test spinner in a week or two.

The 12 in 1 is realistically the one I would get first, (although street fighter is might tempting); unfortunately the 12 in 1 isn’t available in Canada. If mortal Kombat is released I will get that one for sure.

#1173 5 years ago

I'd love to snag a Pacman as a Christmas gift for the wife.

Walmart Canada online is selling them for 350$ but they don't have stock in store.

#1174 5 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

No if I want authentic I would just pony up and buy a real dedicated arcade. These are trash-just because they are cheap does not make them worthy-imo. I recently had a small Midway multi-cade (similar to 1Up) and I literally gave it away because nobody wanted it. Ended up giving to some kids who watched my dog when I was out of town. I just think if you are going to spend money on an arcade-get a real one. I paid like $1000 for my CGC ultimate arcade and the quality is night and day difference. If you want something cheap to throw under the tree-so be it, but you pay for what you get. Like I said I do not even think these are worth $150. The only thing good about these monstrosities is they help bring back arcade nostalgia to the main stream.

My kids are going to freak out over a $199 Street Fighter on Christmas morning and they’re not going to give a crap that it’s not a CGC machine with 90 games they’ll never play.

When they had their fun I’ll do the Raspberry Pie conversation for $117 or so and anything we want.

Yes perfect for kids for a few years and then disposable. I understand not everyone wants to spend the money on a real arcade, and just want something to put a smile on their kids faces. It's all good- I am at a loss this year scratching my head with my kids for Christmas. They want fit-bits? WTF they are kids what do they need fit-bits for?

#1177 5 years ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:

May think twice about that, I own a CGC multi-cade and a Game Gate multi-cade and the kids absolutely love them. Come to think of it I can't think of one day where my kids do not play them. There are thousands of games and they seem to play all of them. They literally play everyday and unfortunately play way more than the pins. These multi-cades I bought are the best bang for your buck when it comes to entertaining the children.

Haha,
That’s probably in their feature list fine print somewhere on the box but, I have to say once you get your plexi panel cover and eventually some better quality controls, these things have some decent staying power.

The real key to their success so far Rex is, that they’re EASILY transportable from room to room, fairly inexpensive, have simple instructions with game matched button layouts, and most importantly, have enough of the cablinet shapes and art packages we fell in love with when the originals were new!
(And the actual gameplay ain’t bad either...)

Unlike the crappy Pac Man Coleco desktop version I used to play back in 81’-82’ by today’s inflation would’ve cost the same if not more than my $150 A1up Pac Man does, and now look what you get!

Man,
Kids have it awesome these days for electronic entertainment!

Hell, I’m still impressed with the $25 Disney lightsabers they came out with that light up and down, with battle feedback cool lightsaber sounds and and real vibration in the hilt.
For $25?!?
My old saber with the orange eveready flashlight and attached plastic white tube that offgasses Cancer, is just a barely-lit tube of Jedi shame in comparison.

In conclusion,
Arcade 1Ups rule!
(Even more when they’re on sale or clearance! )

Here’s to the second and third wave of these babies. Midway, Namco, Konami, Sega, Nintendo, Taito, Data East, SNK, etc...
Maybe even some classic Stern, or some imported Japanese bullet hell candy cab goodness?

Do today's kids really get excited about 80s video games? I mean I loved 80s games... but I didn't have a smartphone or an XBOX.

You’d be surprised how often my MAME with thousands of games ends up on Tetris or Pac-Man.

The problem with most of the games on my Xbox is that they are not mindless entertainment enough.

You have to wait for your teammates to get online, then start a mission, then play for a 3 hour block.

If I only want to play for 15 minutes, I'm turning on Stargate, not the Xbox

My 3 year old can’t get enough of Centipede.
We’ve probably played it more in the past 24 hours than I have in the last 24 years.

Lunar Lander on the other hand has been handing me my ass faster than my old Iron Man ever did...

This.

I've got 30 arcade games and pins, and my kids haven't touched any of them in months. They're currently playing Smash Bros on the Switch. If it wasn't that it'd be Fortnite or something on the PS4 or Xbone. Unless you're trying to prove a point by not letting them play current games, I can't see how a 1UP is going to keep their attention for long.

Just set up my Centipede (Crystal Castles , Millipede, Missile command) . The trackball is barely responsive.

The bear bear-ly moves in CC . Unplayable

I'll start reading back , but can anyone point out someone who has solved this or if i should call for a new controller.

TIA

Loosen the trackball assembly a tiny bit from the bottom of the control panel and see if that helps

I buckled and put these together, they’ll be on the floor in the living room Christmas morning, I bet the short people in my house will play them for at least 15 minutes

#1198 5 years ago

Wow! $100?!?
Now that’s worth a 9 mile drive for sure!
I thought I was farting through velvet at $150 on my Pac Man.
Even though I have a Big Blue nestled in the corner, SFII would be snatched up right quick to House my old Pandora’s Box.

Might as well collect them all at $100 Woody.

Anaheim Fry’s had a bunch of SFII cabs left when I was there yesterday. It’s too bad most of the online places went back up to $249.
I’m sure they’ll dump them down again soon after Christmas.

Worthy of What???? These machines are not worthy of being in Pinsiders homes. Pinsiders are special privileged people who have access to a vast data base of video game knowledge(ie. Pinside).
Let me ask you a question-If they had a zizzle pinball machines on sale at Walmart-would you advise people to go and buy them because they appear to be a good value or would you warn people that they should not waste their time or money(and to save up and buy a real pinball)-because they are a POS regardless of pricing. These 1Up Arcades are not for Pinsiders, they are for the oblivious parents who think it is a good value and will be fun for the kids. Yes it is a toy and not a real arcade, so if you want a toy just buy one of those $20 mini arcades Walmart has been selling. I think Pinsiders want something with staying power-maybe even something that will maintain it's value and they can re-sale or trade down the road. Buying a real arcade would allow you to keep your investment instead of a temporary fix to make the kids happy for Christmas. If you want to go out and buy the zizzle of arcades-so be it. I tried to warn people

I also find it amusing how people are trying to MacGyver their machines so they can work properly-LOL They should include a piece of gum, a toothpick, and some duct-tape with purchase-so people can do some MacGyvering to get their new zizzles to play right.
