pandoras box upgrade

#1102 5 years ago
Quoted from Chosen_S:

Take the control panel apart when you receive it and clear laminate the art... there’s a roll of clear laminate on amazon that will work well... I did both rampage and sf2 in about 20 minutes each
No more stupid raised cp protector
Clear Vinyl Self-Adhesive... amazon.com link »

Cool. I'll order some. Thanks!

Quoted from Matesamo:

Starting to show up on Facebook marketplace.[quoted image]

Sure wish I could find some of these deals. I've been to every walmart within 20 miles of my house and every electronics store I go in I also check. They are all still $299+ everywhere. Ya'll are lucky.

I gave in and bought a SF2 for my kids (yeah, that's what I'm telling myself) and I've got to admit they are fun for what they are. I'd like to add Rampage and Galaga too if I could find them for a discount.

#1104 5 years ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:Um, no. I have a SF coming and wanted to know how to order one. Should've asked the poster above, I guess.

Overlay and protector came today. Nice little preventative care. Easy to install and doesn’t disrupt game play...plus all you have to do is call it in and 1up will mail it.

Ran across this website that offers custom A1U artwork for cabs and risers.

I'd love to cover the riser but holy hell it's one sticker and it's $5 less than the riser itself.

#1107 5 years ago

The "control panel fillers" are what I find most interesting. They cover they awkward black piece under the CP.
The riser art is cool, but if I ever swap games around, this could be an issue.

I will be carrying his graphix packages for Arcade 1 Up machines and pedestals on my website shortly ( modfatherpinball.com ). I really like his graphics he put together for these machines. The CPO graphics and pedestal graphics are pretty cool. I will also be developing new mods for these machines , including all kinds of cool lighting for them. Custom arcade PinCups that match the games graphics and color, arcade controls handles and bats, illuminated joysticks and buttons, Custom stools , decals and even a padded step for the pedestal when you play in socks and want a comfortable spot to wedge your foot on the pedestal . Good things are coming, stay tuned. The ModFather

A better overlay for the 12-in-1 would be nice.

Tempest art is also needed.

An inexpensive way to achieve a lighted marquee would be great. How about something with EL sheets?

#1112 5 years ago

It will be an LED light strip in white mounted over the marquee with a custom bracket and metal visor to block any glare. It should work great , developing it now. I already added the cabinet graphics to my website , and will be adding the other A1UP mods shortly.

So the Marquee will not be backlit?

#1114 5 years ago
Quoted from alveolus:

So the Marquee will not be backlit?

My thoughts were to get one of those custom sized marquees off of Ebay cheap (just had a tmnt one done for $15) and place a sheet of EL paper behind it. Use L brackets to.secure the "sandwich" in place. I think this would make a convincing backlit marquee and not change the look of the cab cosmetically. I'm sure I could find the necessary voltages inside or just use the power strip idea inside the cab.

I’m always afraid I’m going to start a fire with those EL transformers. Is there no room to put an LED strip behind the marquee?

They have all versions except the 12 in 1 at my Walmart for $199 now

Thank you! On Walmart.com I managed to call them and get a price adjustment. The machine will be in my game room downstairs, so "Santa" is leaving this under the tree for the kids as a clue...

Do they have a price match guarantee for so many days there?
Some places honor the new lower price if it's been like 14 days or so.

If in the return period, they'll adjust the price accordingly so you can get refunded the difference. Just did it.

#1124 5 years ago

A much better price than the people selling these on eBay for upwards of $500.00.
Seriously. Do people just shop on eBay and Amazon without looking at other ads?

I think if I've learned anything over the years dealing with pinball pricing, it's that whatever the highest price you find on Ebay, that's the value of your game. These are clearly worth 500 dollars.

I know my Walmart needs to see the sale price at the time of purchase and Walmart.com can't be sold out of it either. They also don't price match other stores anymore.

#1127 5 years ago

Just called walmart.com and got a $50 refund on my pacman cabinet.!! Woohoo!

#1128 5 years ago

I stuffed my stocking !!

#1129 5 years ago

I haven't opened my 12 in 1 Arcade1up yet but placed an order for the protector on their website. No receipt necessary. Looking forward to playing it.

#1134 5 years ago

hmm, may have to pick on up at this price

is it a must to upgrade the sticks/buttons on the sfii one? hate poor sticks in fighting games

#1135 5 years ago

Just picked up PacMan for $199 at Walmart. They had to override $299 after I showed them proof online.

Thanks Pinside!

The backlit marquee is very easy to do. Either cutout the centre of the existing marquee or or build your own out of 1/2" ply. There's enough room inside the cabinet as is to mount an led strip. Add a $15 eBay marquee in the appropriate size and some 90 degree edging from Lowe's and done.

Thanks!

But woodworking is not my forte. I would gladly pay if this can be offered as a kit.

I am so doing this!!!
Is your LED the 110v cabinet strip? How did you supply the power?

I just bought a cheap 12" length of under cabinet led strip. Right now, there's just an extension cord running into the back of the cab to power the game and lighting. At some point, I'll hard wire it into the games power supply. If you go this route, do yourself a favor and get the optional dimmer, unless you like being blinded while playing....

Thanks for the heads up on the $199 sale! I’ve been scanning Walmarts for the past two weeks and none have had the reductions that others have talked about. Been working in Nashville, Tennessee and went to the only area Nashville store that showed inventory on Centipede. Still 2 left if interested.

The store was still showing the $ 299 price but they agreed to match the online price. Woohoo.

#1143 5 years ago

As far as the marquee lighting....here's my new idea. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are 4 solder pads on the board for a usb hook up correct?
2 of these pads should supply 5v. Could I power 2 of the comet 6.3v led strips from this 5v source? Shouldn't be terribly bright.

are the marquees see thru are are they just stickers on wood?

#1145 5 years ago

Stickers on wood.

The led strip i used uses a 12v power supply. I'd assume there's a 12v supply in there somewhere(trackball maybe?). After the holidays, I'll tear into it.

The marquee we are talking about is a custom sized see thru version from eBay. They're $15.

#1147 5 years ago

Has anybody seen them discounted in Canada yet?

#1148 5 years ago

Damn, my Walmarts don't have the sfii in stock and the online shows it sold out for online order. Oh well

#1149 5 years ago

My local store would not match their own price on the Walmart website so I had to order it online in the parking lot lol! Ridiculous

#1150 5 years ago

My Walmart said no price adjustments after 7 days. Must return item and repurchase. Ok
