Quoted from indybru:So you have $212,000? I would take $12,000. and do what gives the most satisfaction. trip, pinball etc.
The remaining $200,000 I would save and invest wisely.
Don't listen to this guy
Quoted from LTG:A membership in the SS Billiards fan club.
LTG : )
I was actually thinking of buying the place.
Is there a reason I can not link games to this or any other thread anymore? I know I may have abused it in the past, but c'mon!
Quoted from Whysnow:I have to say am really disappointed that it took over 50 posts to suggest hookers and blow...
I'm a little surprised we made it this far and nobody said donate and turn that grey heart red again.

Me, post #44
Use $5k to travel the USA, go site seeing, and visiting Pinsiders. I'm sure the Louisiana Pinsiders would welcome you, cook up good food, throw pinball parties and celebrate with you. I'm sure Pinsiders in other states would do the same.

Yeah....uh....I am going to have to pass on that one.
Co worker just bought a house on an island off of Grenada for under 100k. Do that and invest the rest.
Quoted from fisherdaman:Co worker just bought a house on an island off of Grenada for under 100k. Do that and invest the rest.
Sounds pretty tempting!
Quoted from o-din:Sounds pretty tempting!
Uff gonna be long day moving pins over that.
Howdy friendo. I could help you invest that money. Just send me a check for $5k and you will see it double one day.
Quoted from Dayhuff:Funny you should ask this question. We just paid off the house this morning, free and clear.
John
Congrats! I did it last year! Your gonna love it.
Quoted from o-din:Sounds pretty tempting!
For any one wondering that is 'House Island or Cottage Island" it is located in "Lake of The Woods". It is real and is not photo shopped.
Quoted from o-din:Say your house is paid off and likewise your truck and child support. And the kid is well on her way to making her own fortune. Social security and your part time job are covering all your bills with some leftover.
That IRA account you have been so diligently socking money away in can soon be raided with no penalty. What to buy with the money?
How hypothetical is this question?
Quoted from zh2oson:How hypothetical is this question?
Well, the house was paid off 15 years ago, and my daughter is getting straight 'A's in college and already has a decent paying job. My part time job already covers all my bills with money left over.
I just turned 56 so I am 6 years away from being able to collect social security and three years away from IRA withdrawals with no penalty. Now if I hadn't already raided the IRA account some when I got into this hobby, I'd really be farting thru velvet soon.
Sell the probably seriously overpriced house in the fictional San Angeles, CA and move to the good part of CA, (ie anything north of Fresno), otherwise soon to be known as the State of Jefferson (Yes, it is a real crazy out there movement), where you can buy a bigger house, more pins, and see actual rain fall once in a while. And still not touch the $200K.
Quoted from DCRand:State of Jefferson
I had to look that up. That's crazy! lol. I also had to look up Arden-arcade to see if that wasn't just the name of your game room. Nope!
Quoted from DCRand:the probably seriously overpriced house in the fictional San Angeles, CA and move to the good part of CA
If I sell, I lose the seriously cheap property tax I pay now due to the house staying in the family for over 50 years as it was purchased for $20k in 1966 by my grandparents and was reassessed for Prop 13 in the late 70s at around $50k.
There is one way to take the prop tax with me depending on which county, but you can't beat the easy life here 15 minutes from Disneyland.
Quoted from Pickle:Pull a Spicoli and hire Van Halen to play your birthday party!!!
I'll see if my old buddies Social Distortion want to come back and raise some hell in the old neighborhood they got out of as soon as they could.
Sell your place and move to Nashville and get 5 times the house and no state income tax. I'll buy you a beer and 1 hr alone with a goat of your choosing. You know, the typical welcome to TN package.
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Invest in real estate.
Or, meet a bunch of OC pinsiders at captains auction next Sat and treat us to pins.
Or, call Evan and buy me a GOTG pro.
Or, start a pinball company and build machines you like. Remakes of EM's.
Screw it, hookers and blow.
I have some EMs for Brian's empty living room
I haven’t done the math yet, but pretty sure I can retire early if I simply hire Odin as financial advisor, CPA, and events coordinator.
Quoted from surfsidedetail:I have some EMs for Brian's empty living room
Sorry, couch is on the way!
And where were you Saturday? You missed the four hour chicken on the Traeger grill!
Quoted from surfsidedetail:I have some EMs for Brian's empty living room
Ive found that 2-3 EM's fit in most kitchens.
Buy a commercial building, and create a business that sells restored Pinball.
Move your games, charge a fortune, and write off everything in the hobby you enjoy!
Trade shows, new games. whatever.
Lose Money to offset income, while collecting. amd enjoying more Pinball.
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:Buy a commercial building, and create a business that sells restored Pinball.
Nimblepin and myself have considered re-opening one of the local arcades we grew up with like Dragon's Dungeon, but it occurred to us it is cheaper to keep our games at home and play them there.
Now a bar with food and pinball would be great, but I'm not one to put in such long hours.
Quoted from TheLaw:Hmmm Price check 4k TV and bulldog?
No Porsche and restored playboy?
Quoted from adamross:Invest it all in Dutch Pinball so we can finally start getting our TBLs.
I'm only investing in their second title as soon as they start taking pre-orders.
Quoted from jgentry:No Porsche and restored playboy?
Well sure that's the dream but he only has 212K

One of those reverse mortgages and I could really go on a spending spree.
But why did Magnum PI need one? Don't those Blue Bloods pay him enough?

Open a pincade. A local pinhead opened an arcade is now flooded with calls offering to sell him their pins. Share your love for pinball with the public, creating a whole new generation of pinheads, and create a great source for your future collection.
