Derek, you've created a world-class show that has so much demand the ticket servers died twice. Props, to you and your team, man!
Here are a few thoughts from me:
Worrying about fees on $650 of tickets doesn't seem congruent with worrying about an event being accessible to all.
People are used to fees, for other eventbrites, for ticketmaster, for anything. It's a part of life.
I'm not sure what the number of people are that can go from saving those few dollars, who wouldn't have gone otherwise. It doesn't seem to make much sense to harm the entire event, and the experience of everyone, with the rough ticket rollout in service of trying to save each patron those extra dollars.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:WTF is Donair? Sounds like an off-brand hair dryer.
Is it the same thing as Schwarma?
Surprised as a New Yorker this isn't known to you.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:We just call it something else here. Gyro, Schwarma, etc.
ok, I did a bit of googling, and Donair is something that came about in Canada, even though it's origins are the same.
Quoted from pins4life33:the sweet sauce really makes the Donair
So, I never even understood the difference between these different things but I've always loved the ones I've had with the sweet sauce, so now I have a better understanding of the donair.
Quoted from PinMonk:If stream viewers were allowed to order remotely and willing to pay for shipping, they can take orders and have those Ts made locally regionally after the show and shipped out from points within each main region (US, EU, AUS, etc) so shipping isn't terrible. The YEGPin shirt's pretty cool so I think there would be demand for it even if the price was a little high.
It might make sense to offer the t-shirt designs through one of the "print on demand" stores, for online orders, so people could at least get one if they wanted and no risk of inventory. A "better than nothing" solution.
Great photos. Show looks awesome. Congrats to everyone involved on all the effort and hard work making it a top show and tournament. A great example of what's possible when people decide to make it happen.
