Quoted from BubbaK:This machine does appear to be all original. I don't have a great eye, but I couldn't see any touchups or paintwork anywhere. There was some question on the cabinet color, but the frame around the playfield matches the cabinet. Some comments I got from people thought it should be a red cabinet. I couldn't tell if the cabinet is something like Robin Egg Blue or more of a green. Once it gets cleaned, I'm sure the color will pop.
It does seem like World Series is more readily available. A conversion kit would be neat.

Yeah, one was just restored in red, it looks great. It can be seen if you scroll down a bit in the pre-war Facebook group...

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/prewar

How did your friend manage to come across that one? I do wonder how many they really made of them. I've heard they were made for other countries where baseball was no popular. So there might be more oversees than here.

    My highlights would be...

#1 Playing "mayhem" with my kids. Comet, Cyclone and Hurricane are all set for 5 balls. We each start at one machine and rotate as balls drain. So I might be player 1 on Comet, player 2 on Cyclone and player 3 on Hurricane. Mayhem ensues. It gets real interesting when it's your turn on 2 machines. One kid is pretty good at cradling on one machine and playing one handed on another. You get 3 points for a win, 2 points for second and 1 point for third. Lots of laughs for sure!

#2 Did my first cabinet repaint. Took a while and I definitely learned a lot. Like pink paint sticks to white just fine and but yellow doesn't??? Anyway, I'm very happy with the results.

Thanks for the FB link. I'll look around there. I've heard the same about the baseball

My friend came across the machine by dumb luck. He is into antique furniture and bikes mostly. He was at this house, very close to his house about some other items. While he was there, the guy asked him if he was interested in the machine and didn't really know anything about it. Thats when he sent me the first couple of pics and it all blew up from there.

Is this a game you made up? How does it work if you are playing the first pin and its your turn on the second? Does the waiting player plunge your ball?

    Quoted from Neal_W:

Yes, we made it up. Unless the player is ready to plunge their own ball, other players are free to plunge it for them. You can often get back to your own turn without moving. You are required to call out your drains (if you haven't left the machine), but you're not required to call other player's drains on balls you launched. I guess a 4th machine could be added into the mix. That would create even more mayhem.

Man I wish I had dumb luck that good. I collect primarily coaster pins. My head probably would have exploded if I came across that one by accident!

    Quoted from Triplecdad:

    getting my AFMr home....
Let me explain. Bought the game in Phoenix, drove home to Tucson. Between Phoenix and Tucson we get sudden fast-moving huge dust and rainstorms. They are called a haboob. At times, the dust is like a solid wall, almost like a bad movie. Then the rain hits. After such a storm, either side of the freeway (Interstate 10) looks like a shallow lake for miles.
So, AFMr was in the bed of my truck when I hit the haboob. I saw it coming and pulled off at a truck stop. There was no driving through. There was minimal cover under a thin canopy used when truckers wash their vehicles. I did have a tarp over the game. When the rain and violent wind hit, it shredded the canopy and I was effectively out in the open with rain flooding down literally in sheets. I stood in the bed of the truck holding the tarp on against the violent winds and began literally shoving sheets of water off my game. It was raining so hard water was pooling in the bed of the truck. I was instantly soaked - and began to get chilled. Rain in the desert is cold due to falling from a great height and the wind was numbing. So I took off my shirt - which was just making me colder - and kept swiping water off my game as fast as I could. People drove by honking and waving, laughing at the crazy old shirtless guy splashing in the back of his truck. This lasted for 30 minutes and when the rain finally stopped I was exhausted, shivering and worried about the game. Drove home, 45 miles, and unloaded. The bottom board was damp, but that was it! Funny thing was I had rarely played AFM, and bought the game because it had 370 plays and was beautiful. It still is, thank goodness, and plays perfectly with no signs of the storm. I love the game.

I just about had the same thing happen. I have a home in Phoenix and it is the last district before you head south to Tucson . Bought a NGG out of Surprise and used a truck to go pick it up. They were forecasting a dust storm that afternoon. Picked up the machine but I wrapped it in stretch wrap just in case. When I left the sellers home, not a cloud in the sky. Got just past Sky Harbour airport and all you could see is a huge black wall of dust to the west. When the storm hit, it sounded like the truck was getting sand blasted. Could barely see in front of the truck . Made it home and unloaded the game in the garage. Once I got the stretch wrap off there was a pile of sand on the floor. I could not imagine how much damage there would have been had I not wrapped it up.

I have two. First was buying a Godzilla Premium, my first pinball in over 20 years.

Second was getting my 11 year old son into pinball, now it can be a hobby for us to do together.

The Allentown show is always a yearly highlight for me.

But this year I was able to get some great games as well (in my opinion).

Got a Data East Simpsons and Bally Baby Pac Man which hold much sentimental value because they elonged to a friend who passed in a motorcycle accident years ago.

Was able to get a super condition Data East Time Machine locally

Got not one but two Police Force machines, one of which will go to my father in law once cleaned up and repaired.

I don't have all the latest greatest machines made but am certainly blessed to have what I do.

Have a great new year everyone!

Picked up 12 machines in one shot so I can lay hands on Roller Coaster Tycoon for my wife and try out a few more titles in depth.

This year was a tough one-COVID and other issues.

    But… pinball saved it.

Many pinball highlights- buying, selling, playing.

Best? Had a home league with 2 others with 20 players. This was a big hit for all of us. We owners shared our machines with other pinball crazies. New league starts with the new year. Yay!

My pinball highlight this year was watching Sterling my 11 year old pull off a huge tournament win. This was the Tolpin #4 tournament in November, 60 players and it started at noon,. Finals didn't start till 9pm, it just kept going & going, lots of very high ranked adult players. All finals were 3 game papa style , the final 4 players last round started at 3:30 AM. Game #1 Metallica, he finished 2nd,. Game #2 he took a 1st on munsters. Game #3 Hot wheels, and on his ball 3, he had a huge comeback and hit a 200 million point jackpot in redline multiball.. he turned around and everyone was stunned.. he said.. "Did I pass Stephen, " we all said yes, so he drained his ball and walked away with a huge First place in the Tournament,..they finished at 5:05 Am. I could barely contain myself. 17 hours after starting! He's currently ranked in the 600's on ifpa and climbing! Here is his FB page if anyone wants to follow his journey

Reflecting since the year is about over.

Adding it all up. jjp dumping me was for the best, for me. ( although maybe not for their customers )

Leaves me with six games that eventually can be sold or traded for other pinball machines. I don't need to hang onto any for tech support. Frees up a lot of time for if and when PPS/CGC needs my tech help. Frees up a lot of time for my own business, maintenance and cleaning.

You don't always see it at the time. But things do seem to work out for the best.

This year I got back into pinball after having not touched one since 1997. I bought a High Speed and have spent many hours playing it with my son. I convinced my wife to go to a pinball arcade and she fell in love with TAF. So a good year and a good start to the obsession.

    #76 1 year ago

Although I didn’t attend any shows, for me, it was probably discovering, trying, and eventually buying a stern big game. I just can’t stop playing this classic. I feel lucky to have met/talked w numerous pinheads locally, and have reached out to a few for questions/help. Big shout out to @koji. He’s a real nice guy, helps n answers a lot of things pinball related..1 of the best out there..

For me it was pulling off running YEGPIN Pinball and Arcade Expo. This year we decided to go crazy and run a tournament almost identical to past Pinburghs. The sheer amount of machines needed, the amount of technicians to keep them running all weekend long and the amount of volunteers needed to ensure all the games got to location and that the event ran smoothly all weekend was a truly remarkable feat. It bought our pinball league members closer together and it bought so many people from all around the world together in celebration for the greatest game on earth. All the blood, sweat and tears was worth it in the end and will be something I will never forget.

For me, it had to be getting a Toy Story 4 CE from a Secret Santa in the Pinside Secret Santa program. Completely unexpected, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would happen and still hard to even believe to this day. I've never had a new in box pin before this one and it was so much fun to be able to go through that experience with an absolutely gorgeous machine like this.

The only 'real' pinball I've played this year was a single game of WWE in a small seaside town in South Wales, during the hot summer. Not the best experience, but it wins by default.

This year was a heavy first half with two great memories and then pretty quiet until Pincinnati. I think it comes down to (2) memories:

    1. Buying JP Pro, HGOT, and F14 all in 5 months. Hadn't gone on a buying spree like that since....2014 or so?

    2. The other was introducing this girl to pinball and her totally falling in love with it. She has already bought us TPF 2023 tickets, and she gets excited to go play everytime we get together.

The RMPS is always a highlight and 2022 had the show almost back to normal.

But I was able to bring 2 games this year and was surprised to find out that Paul Faris the artist who did Centaur was there giving a talk. Not only did he sign my game but he told me all about the story behind the art and how they were trying new things at Bally. Wow what a great presentation on the art from those years.

Here is a pic of me with Paul and my games in the background.
