    Does favorite homebrew include rethemes?

    #6 1 year ago
    Quoted from pin397:

Does favorite homebrew include rethemes? I still think there should be 2 different categories.

Yes, rethemes can be included if they are voted in as nominees from the pre-voting and they meet all of the other eligibilities. In the past we normally don't have enough eligible home brew machines to really break them out into 2 separate categories, but that is something that could change in future years.

How long does it take to show who was nominated?

    #10 1 year ago

I dunno....After last years' show and the recent news that TWIPY votes can be bought, I'm just not as excited as the last few years.

We are actively reviewing any possible vote buying. We do reserve the right to remove any nominees that are found to either buy votes or do any giveaways to get votes.

Ok what’s exciting about this year’s awards - How about best game? Bond code ver .80 dropped and the game is pretty good already. They added a 3rd Villain and cleaned up the confusing mess previously available. Code is so good in fact, I’ll be voting according. Otherwise, it may well be a dull ceremony.

    #15 1 year ago

Every vote for Bond .80 code is a hilarious slap in the face to the other eligible games. And a pat on the back to Stern for a job well done with code "quality" on release.

Seems like Rush is gonna win a lot of awards by default.

    #16 1 year ago

Only categories I'm really looking at is mod and location. I'll be voting for the precision flippers and Next Level Pinball Museum. Rush should win game of the year, it's a great pin.

From the runner ups who started the rumor, lol.

    Best Game Rush
Best Mod Godzilla Neon Sign By Stumblor
    Best Pinball Site Pinside

I'll be at the ceremony wearing cargo shorts and a dinner jacket. Please say hello if you're a like minded fashion whore.

^^^ thx for an impressive update. Pre-voted a ballot (in my mind). Figured it out. Yeah 2022 TWIPY’s.

    #23 1 year ago

    I voted !!

    #24 1 year ago

Why does it allow you to vote for the same game for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all categories?

    Quoted from NightTrain:

    Quoted from NightTrain:

Why does it allow you to vote for the same game for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all categories?

We aren't technically able to remove a user's 1st choice vote from the 2nd and 3rd choice dropdowns for all browsers, so we just make sure to post at the top in the instructions that we won't accept duplicates in the same category. I'm sorry for the confusion with that.

    #28 1 year ago

Halfway through my ballot. Pretty rough list of nominees this year. Best toys & mechs, yikes. Were there any toys?

    #29 1 year ago

I think coin mechs are considered toys now.

    #30 1 year ago

Best layout, best rules? Ugh, none of the above. Do I have to vote for every category? Might just not even bother submitting. Something has to win game of the year but I don't think any of them deserve it.

    #31 1 year ago

You can vote only what you want. I left probably 70% of my entire ballot blank. No 2nd or 3rd place choices even when I did vote.

    Rough year fo sho

    #33 1 year ago

Essentially, It’s just a fun poll with prizes.

I don’t mean to take away from the organization, but we all vote with our wallets, page views and downloads every day.

This just gives some spotlight to those producing the products and content.

Did the same here, left some blanks and only voted for choice #1. (except Podcaster, where I voted top 3).

    #35 1 year ago

Yikes, that was rough. Weird Al got a lot of votes from me almost by default against the competition and I haven't even gotten to play one yet. Several categories where I don't think anything stood out as a true winner to me.

    Same
    Weird AL for the win

    #39 1 year ago

I played Weird Al recently at Ayce Gogi. It's a very different pinball experience, quite funny, but still gets edged by Rush as a complete package, IMO. The Bond they had convinced me that Bond wins the layout category, really fun to shoot, clever use of flow and combos, it's just early on code and the machines trickled out too late.

We messed up! We completely missed adding in Fathom Revisited from Haggis Pinball as an eligible game during 2022 for the TWIPY voting. We have reached out to Haggis and Martin Robbins to apologize and to ask if they would like us to go ahead and include them or wait until next year. So, even though it is absolutely not fair to Haggis Pinball, we have gone ahead and included them in the 2022 TWIPY Voting that is going on now. Since Fathom Revisited is a remake they are included in the categories where significant changes have been made: Animations/Display, Sound, and Rules. Please go vote for Fathom Revisited in any of those categories you feel they deserve your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice! If you have already voted you can still vote again using the same email address and we will only keep your last submission. Just make sure you vote for all of the other categories that you voted for previously. Voting is open through January 16th.

That's unfortunate but good for you in stepping up to correct things. Seems to me you also created extra work for yourselves so good luck with that.
In fairness, my suggestion is to bump Haggis into next year, but I'm just an outsider, lone vote.

FYI. I think Haggis Fathom should be included in any categories that Funhouse 2.0 is. As it is now, Fathom 2.0 is not listed in Best Theme or Best artwork and Funhouse 2.0 is.
Those were the only two categories that caught my eye - Food for thought.

We were originally suggesting putting Fathom Revisited into next year's voting, but after reaching out to Martin Robbins he didn't think we should. We are just trying to do what Haggis wants at this point.

Since Fathom Revisited is a remake and doesn't include new art and isn't a new theme, we decided not to include them in Best Theme or Best Art.

    #44 1 year ago

Fathom Revisited is so gorgeous, it gets a special Pinball Art Hall of Fame TWIPY (in our hearts).

    #45 1 year ago

Fathom is so 2021. Why’d it be considered this year? You going to let Bond code get buffed to a diamond this year and run in 2023? The decision to correct a perceived wrong is wrong.

    Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

Fathom is so 2021. Why’d it be considered this year?

Because they didn't ship until 2022. An announcement date on Pinside doesn't mean much if nobody has actually received and played the game.

    #47 1 year ago

Aurich is correct. We determine eligibility by if it ships within 12/1/2021 through 12/1/2022 for the 2022 TWIPYs.
