I'll be documenting the restoration of a Bally Shadow. Nice game, owner going with the alternate cabinet decals and CPR playfield.
Cabinet stripped of parts.
Using pro grade stripper (dont bother with the californized crap at Depot) to melt the old decals off.
You can only buy this at pro paint shops, and only by a contractor.
Residual glue from decals removed with xylene and scraped with plastic blade.
Sanded with 80 grit, masked, and getting ready to apply bondo/glaze.
Ah dang, I was hoping for something maybe more interesting than the original art. Project looks great so far.
I had local vinyl sign shop laminate a gloss clear layer over cabinet decals. $100 well spent for feel and durability.
Not sure if phone camera will pick up.
Populating the underside of pf. All mechs rebuilt with new sleeves, wrappers, etc.
Flipper mechs are all new parts.
Thanks for posting. Are you not going to wire up the headlights? I was thinking about doing it to mine. Also i can't get over blue on the playfield. I know it's supposed to be that color but I still don't like it.
Trying to think. It would be hard to grab a control lamp that isn’t used a lot. I don’t think any of the modes involve a car.
Maybe link it to the mystery lamp at the right saucer, or when extra ball is lit? Mystery might be better since it lights whether EBs are on or not.
if it were me, I would grab a couple of the old LEDs (little less bright and have more of a glow) and tie it to the GI. Would light up the headlights and still keep it kind of subtle. like the nacell mod for the old bally Star Trek
Battlefield surround done in black nickel from Hot Rod Arcade.
I cant wait to get wireforms back from powdercoater, this is going to look great.
Picked up powdercoated parts today.
That is a bunch of parts, can't wait to put this together.
Sometimes things turn out better than I expected.
This is one of those.
I have black leg bolts on order.
That black armor is sick! I'm not so crazy about the gun powder coated. Also what made you go with blue flasher domes? I'm trying to picture it
