I'll be documenting the conversion of a Stern Meteor to a Quicksilver. I'll be using the Third Coast harness, and Mirco playfield.
Good donor machine

Mirco playfield has been hanging in my basement for a few months now. Got it out to my shop a few days ago.

You guys converting Meteors are killing me! Not because you're converting but ever single cab looks so much better than mine!

#5 2 years ago

I'll still be replacing the bottom panel (it's a mess), and doing my normal smooth and paint process, so it's not much difference in labor to me. If you were close, I'd say drop yours off, and you can have this one.

#6 2 years ago

Good luck with the conversion! If someone doesn't buy my meteor in the market I might just convert her as well.

I'll be right over! Seriously, I wish I could find a deal like that out here.

#8 2 years ago

Good luck, but this Meteor looks too nice to convert. Meteor isn't that much less of a game than a QS.

#9 2 years ago

It's all personal opinion.
There were 7 times as many Meteors as Quicksilvers produced.
Artwork on QS is crazy good.

#10 2 years ago

Topside of playfield was in decent shape (except for badly cupped inserts), but down below, it's a freaking mess.
Bottom of cabinet is coming off.

I really enjoy watching your builds. I recently purchased a QS from a guy on the West Coast. Now I’m wishing I had you build one for me.

Sell it. I'm happy to do another.

The Quicksilver needs a 4 bank drop target unit in center of playfield. Since the donor Meteor doesn't use a 4 bank, I'll modifu this 5 bank from an old Hot Hand to convert to a 4

Silver (actually metallic grey) applied.
One of the many benefits of using automotive finishes is the ability to recoat quickly. I'm able to glaze, sand, prime, sand, and basecoat in half a days time.
