Quoted from PBFan:Well of course this is a popularity contest. That is what voting is about as opposed to a real sporting competition.
And this has to be remembered and not overlooked. There can be no "Cinderella Stories" as in competitive sports, as the pins performance is finite and can be quantified. It's the opinions, not the games that are competing.
The games that maintain top rankings deserve it because of the consistent # of positive feedback they get from pinheads over the years. Simply no denying that.
Until the endless debate on the rankings change, these " competitions" will always be what they are meant for...healthy entertainment from a personal perspective. Fun stuff, and Op did a great job.
The only part I would give more thought to is the winning percentage by manufacturer ( in seriousness).
There were only 3 true companies ( not 4) involved in this piece, and seems a bit skewed that a company with 5 pins in the competition, with only 1 making it out of the second round could have a higher winning % than a company that provides multiple offerings. A company could offer 2 pins, 1 stellar, the other one crap, and be virtually untouchable in winning percentage.
That could be a toughy to sort, though.
I don't take these things for more than what they are, and genuinely appreciate Ops efforts to get it right, while providing some great fun.
That's what pinball is about anyway...
