This thread will document a Funhouse resto for a local client. It will be getting a new Mirco playfield.
Overall, a pretty decent machine.

Has the typical mylar bubbling on playfield.

Top of pf stripped of ramps, plastics, etc, to get pics and locations of hardware.

looks like that one is in pretty good shape already. PF looks like it has mylar? Will look great when you finish!

#6 4 years ago

Looks like that one is in way better shape than mine. I'm slowly gathering up bits and pieces for a total strip and rebuild... looking forward to updates on this project.

#7 4 years ago

Yeah, this one is pretty clean compared to most.
Pf out of the box, and on the rotisserie.

I’m betting you’ll be taking a break from Funhouse Restos for a while after this one

#9 4 years ago

Yes, a self imposed 2 year sabbatical from any Funhouse projects has been ordered.
Next up, I will do my personal FG with a hardtop and cabinet restore.
First hardtop for me.

Soaked overnight and rinsed off.
I hang the harness up, blow it with compressed air for 10 minutes, and let it dry.
Cabinet harness going in the bucket next.

I have a question about the cab art. Everything I read says early runs of these (proto- to maybe first 100 or so) are decals, and after that they were screen printed. Were yours pull off decals then?

#20 4 years ago

I've done 4 FH. All the lower cabinets were decals.

#21 4 years ago

I use spackling on cabinet interior. This will get sanded (220), primed, and painted.

Quoted from Jjsmooth:

I've done 4 FH. All the lower cabinets were decals.

I’ve done two FH, both had international serial numbers (European).
Both had screen printed cabinet artwork (and backbox)

#23 4 years ago

Inside of cabinet painted, ready for new bottom panel.

#26 4 years ago

Do you do any prep to the Mirco playfield before populating? Specifically, drilling or cleaning out holes before screwing into pf?

#27 4 years ago

Above pf posts that screw into the wood get a 7/64" bit run in first.
Most all the rest are ready to go.

If the thru holes have any clear in them, a chain saw blade file does a great job of cleaning it up.

Cleaver way of replacing bottom floor. Nicely done.

Thanks, I appreciate that.
Outside of cabinet condo applied (twice) to all edges and joint at bottom.
I use spackling to fill wood grain.
I'll block sand this tomorrow and start paint (corners and back only).

Thx. These are the first Phoenix I've used.

Seriously these are like cc'd Next Gen in my opinion. So nice.
Wish they were still available.
