Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no state-level sales taxes

Looks like things are looking up for distributors in those states!

Fortunately, I border one of 'em! Just a short trip to pick up my NIB! Blah, who am I kidding, I don't pay for NIB.

On the bright side, the value of all my pins just went up about 10%!

    Quoted from TKDalumni:

Wouldn’t this tax apply to ANY pinball sales out of state? Not just NIB...

Ha, of course, but ever have a craigslist seller charge you sales tax?

But looks like EBay pin prices will be even higher!

    Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

If it were just 50 different tax rates for the 50 different states, it wouldn't be quite that bad. At least in MN, the tax rate can be different from county to county and also city to city. It's not just 50 tax rates you need to keep track of. It could literally be thousands.

The laws aren't about collecting county and municipal taxes, they're only about state sales tax rates.

Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no state-level sales taxes

Time to go into the shipping depot business. The virtual population of these states are just about to jump! Okay, nobody lives around Montana...

    Quoted from ForceFlow:

A a good number of exotic car purchases in Georgia were facilitated through LLCs in Montana until a crackdown recently.

Yeah, I could see that on $100,000+ items, but we're only talking expensive not EXPENSIVE.

Kind of surprised that would work for cars though, they bust you on the tax when you register the car where you live. Maybe those guys just put them in their showroom, or fake a local invoice.

    Quoted from schudel5:

Agreed. Not only are taxes in each state different, but some don't have state sales tax at all and in some states the taxes are different by county and even by city. Some are even taxed differently based on what you are buying. Now, multiply that by 50 and that's the magnitude of this.

It's not that complicated: this law is just about collecting the state sales tax, not county or municipal taxes.

    Quoted from jitneystand1:

And now I'm supposed to do that for 50 states?

Yes, 50 states. "Not that complicated" wasn't meant as an absolute: it was obviously meant relative to what was suggested: you don't have to concern yourself with all the tax permutations of varying municipal and county taxes.
