    Quoted from rwmech5:

Figured it was common knowledge. Yankees have been dealing with this stuff for years with situations like Ellsbury etc. I believe it was 40% was covered due to injury but the cap hit us still there.

So Ryu Contract as example..jays be on the hook for 60% of 80 mill. Contract signed Dec 27 2019..so I assume the remaining contract $ would only be insured?

    #1352 1 year ago

They try and keep it quiet but it looks like insurance paid about 16 mil of Jacobys last year so that’s be about 75%. David Wright was another one but not sure about those details. I guess they all might be different.

    #1353 1 year ago
    Quoted from Maken:

Same 3 batters against too, insane odds.

Wow…just wow. What are those odds? Only 107 immaculate innings have been thrown in MLB. That’s kind of crazy considering how many innings are pitched in an entire season. Figured there would have been more of them. And against the same 3 batters by 2 different pitchers in the same game. Just a weird stat that may stand for a long time.

    #1354 1 year ago

It’s going to take 93-95 wins to get into the playoffs. Any predictions yet?

Ya, pretty sure it's case by case.

Either way, he gone and we need to trade for Frankie Montas.

    Quoted from FamDocKevin:

Such a strange season so far.
-The Mets, after being so dominant the 1st two months, have managed to give back 5 games to the Braves, and 4.5 to the Phillies in just the last 10 games...while still playing .500 ball.
-The Brewers have coughed-up 1st place by going 1-10 in their last 11, but are only 1.5 back in a terrible division.
    - The Twins are in 1st place, and 9 games over .500, despite scoring only 31 more runs than they've given up.
-The Red Sox are now tied for a playoff spot, after being 7 games under .500 at the beginning of June.

I have to disagree with just about everything you state here.

The Mets "gave back" 5 games to the Braves? Yeah right! Do you think that maybe the Braves 14 game win streak might have had something to do with it or was it all just the Mets "giving the games back" to the Braves. lol

The Brewers are doing what they do just about every year and while it may be true that the bottom three in the NL Central are toast, the Brewers and Cards are serious contenders that can compete with the Dodgers and Mets and beat them on any given day.

The Twins are usually pretenders. We'll see this year.

We'll see how playoff bound your Red Sox are after tonight's game with Michael Wacha (a former St Louis cardinals pitcher) vs Adam Wainright at Fenway.

    Should be a good matchup.

Shohei Ohtani hits his second 3 run Homer in the 9th to tie the game last night. He ends up with 8 RBI in a losing effort.

Tonight he has 12 strikeouts in 7 innings. Wow. I will never witness an 8 RBI game and the next night the guy strikes out at least 12. Pitching a shutout thru 7. Insane.

    Amazing for sure!

How about Yordan Alvarez….dude is a beast and arguably the hottest hitter at the moment….he crushed one today. Go Stro’s!!!

    #1360 1 year ago

and though the Stro’s put up a good effort the Yankees exposed the Achilles heel of the Astros…relief pitching. I have said this before the season started is pitching is the weak spot of the Astros. They need another Ace starter and another solid reliever or two if they can get it.

Hats off to the Stankees …..they are playing amazing ball so far this year. Their record is the best because they do what good teams do…they win.

    #1361 1 year ago

Hats off to the Trashstros for showing up and rolling over when it matters most. Love me some Stanek, glad they picked him up from the Rays. Elvis can't pitch in Yankee stadium either, nice 9th for him last night. Game 2 should be a gooder, Justine vs Sevy.

    #1362 1 year ago

Happy for Judge...he's a good person and one hell of a ball player. Always cheer for him even being a Jays fan

    Next day…*giggle*

    #1365 1 year ago

So the Stro’s dropped the opener but put the stank on the Stankees with a combined no hitter….

    #1366 1 year ago

The last time the Yankees were no-hit was 19 years and 15 days ago….and it was against the Astros. That’s pretty interesting.

    #1367 1 year ago

Flush that game yesterday, moving on. Let's go Yanks!

That was a sweet game, wish I could have been there! Let's go Astros, do it again!

    #1369 1 year ago

I know streets around the world will be quiet watching the Jays Spank the Red Sox tonight. Stay hydrated my friends.

    #1370 1 year ago

Orioles had first winning % month in 5 years this month.

    Just gonna leave this here

Anyone else going to the jays 1st of doubleheader tomorrow? I'm going solo to score the vlad and dad bobblehead and watch the 7 inning game vs the Rays.

    They’re 9 innings this year

    Ok didn’t know that

Vlad and dad promotion game with bobblehead.
Gates opened at 10 for noon 1st double header start..was in line at 9:00am and just made it.15k only fans receive any Jays promotions. Also hike the ticket prices. Still had a great time and nice to see Vlad Sr throw out the first pitch.

Sounds like a great day…. Not as many double headers played these days.

By "giving back" I simply meant that despite playing decent ball, the Mets still lost 5 games to the Braves over those 14 games.

The NL Central, in my opinion, isn't very good. The Brewers are 11-13 vs the NL East and 3-5 vs the West. The Cards are 7-8 vs the East and 9-5 vs the West. Thats a combined 30-31 vs the East & West. Meh...

Was great day!..met some really cool fans on the subway
Too bad Jays got smoked in both games. We have the worst record against Tampa for how many years

    #1378 1 year ago

Please Cubs beat the Red Sox

Well this season has been an absolute shit-show as a White Sox fan. Just throw up in your mouth bad every night and wonder how it can get worse the next game, and somehow it does. But I bought tickets for the family to today’s game with a lot of prodding from my daughter and it hit my baseball reset button. Great seats, 79 degrees without a cloud in the sky and a beer in hand. Sox won, but I was just digging the first baseman throwing grounders to the infielders, the catcher throwing it down to second and the outfielders playing long toss while the pitcher warmed up just like we all did as kids. Baseball at the park just has that routine and pace that’s so satisfying.

When the Jays came to town the Sox broadcast did a Vlad/Jr. superimposed swing video then a statistics comparison based on their games played to that point and it was so identical it was freaky.

    #1381 1 year ago

The Jays are a 4th place team with our current rotation and mediocre batting this month

    #1382 1 year ago

Just joined the thread, but at this point you gotta say, that Alex Anthopoulos is about the best GM going. After the first 4 years rebuilding, he finds a way, to plug any hole effectively!

    #1383 1 year ago

Disclaimer is that I am a lifelong Braves fan....

    #1384 1 year ago

I am rooting for the Braves to sweep the Mets right out of first. We need to just demoralize them now!

Toronto fires Montoya, Larussa the next one to go?

    #1387 1 year ago

White Sox fans certainly hope so!

Happy to have a shakeup in TO, we've been bad all year.

    #1388 1 year ago

Reds pulled a fast one on the Yankees last night!

That was fun to watch, Holmes completely lost it. He had been so consistent, but all relievers have to give one up eventually.

    #1390 1 year ago

Glad it wasn't against any of the AL East teams. Orioles could overtake the Jays this week. Let's go O's

After my shit talking the Orioles, I hope they do pass the Jays this year. Charlie Montoya fired today ..GO Orioles

    #1392 1 year ago

I wonder if any Oriole players are pin heads and on this forum...Mabey I am responsible for the dramatic turn around?

    #1393 1 year ago

Nice series win for the Mets who were without two of their best players, Marte and McNeill.

    #1394 1 year ago

Good to see Devon White with Jays coaching staff. I Still have his jersey. He was like a gazelle in the outfield fast and caught everything

Man some of those CFs back then were ridiculous. Devon, Lofton, Edmonds, Griffey, Andruw Jones, Beltran. I’m sure I’m missing a few.

    #1396 1 year ago

Won his jersey at a silent auction...in a hockey arena lol...never forget the guy delivering it to my house telling me I won! I ran for the cash I was so happy!

Break is over….kicking it off with a Stro’s and Stankees double header.

I love the smell of the ball park in the morning…it smells like victory.

Previous pic was a view from center field….it’s just a nice view.

My actual seat…best seats in the house…Crawford Box…..street level walk in and only about 30-50 feet to your seat. Short porch area in Left Field…often the target of sluggers.
