I will be documenting the process of restoring a Williams Funhouse. This was a well routed piece in need of some freshening up.
And a paint job for Rudy..
Current state of machine

Poor, poor Rudy.

#3 10 days ago

Umm, yep.
On the bright side, this machine will be getting the full treatment. New Mirco pf is here.
I'll be putting a new MDF bottom in this cabinet, before paint and new decals.

Removing old decals with aerosol paint stripper. Give it 2 heavy coats about 10 minutes apart, wait 10 more, and the old vinyl starts giving up

Rudy looks hideous. Glad to see that's getting fixed.

You must be taking a large amount of pictures. You just using a smart phone? Or a normal camera?

#9 9 days ago

Clean up remaining glue left from decal removal with xylene (apply with disposable brush), and scraped with fresh blade.

Ready to remove bottom panel.
I cut 3/4" from bottom edge, to put me right at top of MDF panel.

I have done 3 FH and everyone had cracked scoop. These must be tig welded. Luckily, there is a guy down the street.

Do you have all the switches labled on the harnesss? I can see tape on the connectors...I cant tell from the photo for switches

#18 8 days ago

The tape at connectors was on there. I mark and remove all micro SW. You don't want those getting wet.
I number the SW and the old pf for each location.

That way I get the right sw in the right spot, and the stubs I wire I left behind corresponds correctly to my clean harness.

Awesome, I've already learned a few things. I will be following along...

#21 8 days ago

Thanks for that numbering tip..makes good sense

#22 8 days ago

I will try to slow down a bit and post more.
I am happy to help.
Thx for following.

Getting all under pf mechs cleaned and parts replaced. All coils get new sleeves and coil wraps. Pops get these plus plunger polished (doesn't sound right), new fiber and metal yokes (every metal yoke was broken). This will make a huge improvement, and they will react like new.

Before reattaching wiring harness, I get the switches, light boards, and larger mechs installed.
I clean the light panels with sprayed alcohol and a paint brush. Then I hose them down with compressed air.

Dropping the harness on, getting basic orientation started by connectors at lamp boards and targets first

Looks like the 'S' insert has a bit of sinking. How are the inserts overall?

#34 8 hours ago

Looks awesome great work.. again!

#35 8 hours ago

In my experience with Mirco pfs, holes, dimples, etc, almost all spot on.

I think its just the photo. the mirco playfield I got has inserts perfectly smooth (fun house)

#37 7 hours ago

A nice touch is the way they counterset the tops of screw/post holes, so u don't pull up the finish if u overtighten.

Cute dog!

#41 20 minutes ago

Haha. I only put him in there because he had a bad couple days. Vet said he must have hurt his back, jumping from couch maybe. We could not touch him without him yelping. Felt horrible, but Percy is almost back to himself.
He is a great dog. Half Pomeranian, half Chihuahua.
Full badass
