The Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show is pleased to announce that we will once again be hosting a Satellite Pinball Tournament Series, to provide pinball players across the western Washington region opportunities to win their way to the show and to the tournaments. After last year's successful expansion outside the Seattle metropolitan area to Tacoma and Bremerton, this year we expand with new events in Marysville, Bellingham, and Portland, OR! And we return to all of the most popular locations in Seattle and neighboring communities.

Entry into each event is $10. Prizes at each event are NWPAS Tournament Packages with a value of $115 or more. Each package includes a weekend pass to the show and entry into both the Open Match Play and Classic Pingolf tournaments. Women who win a package also get a free entry into the 2018 NW Women's Pinball Championship. Rookie/Amateur-eligible players also get an entry into the Rookie&Amateur Match Play tournament. For those of you who want to improve your state or world IFPA rankings, these NWPAS tournaments have traditionally been some of the top WPPR point events in the region.

    Quoted from oropuro:

What game is up for raffle this year? WOZ, Guardians,
any chance we having project pinball raffle there too? that would be a great combo!

The raffle game I think is still undecided, there is a show meeting this weekend, I'll have more info. We did a Facebook poll for the available new Sterns and Guardians Of The Galaxy Premium edged out Batman '66 Premium, with Star Wars Premium coming in third. But there has been talk of the next remake being ready in time too.

There will also be and 80s or 90s pin for the $1 raffle and at least one arcade game for the $1 raffle. We will be raffling off at least one game every day!

    Quoted from n1teowl:

So what are people bringing to the show?

Right now I'm bringing a pile of arcade games and the following pins: Doctor Who, Judge Dredd and Revenge from Mars. But it all could change in the next few months!

Hey Everyone, your opportunity to win your way to the 2018 Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show on June 8-10 in Tacoma has begun!

Entry into each NWPAS Satellite Pinball Tournament is only $10. At least three prize packages awarded at every event, and additional packages for every 8 players beyond the first 24. One of those packages is guaranteed to a Rookie/Amateur eligible player!

Each prize package has a value of $115-145, and includes a weekend pass to the show and entry into every tournament you're eligible to play in, meaning at least the Open Match Play and Classic PinGolf. Women also get entry into the 2018 Northwest Women's Pinball Championship which boasts a top prize of a BRAND NEW Hobbit Special Arrow Pinball Machine, sponsored by Nitro Pinball. Players who are new or don't have high rankings also receive an entry into the Rookie & Amateur Match Play Tournament.

The winner of each tournament receives a Plaque. And to ensure there are lots of winners, many raffle prizes from NWPAS and our sponsors are randomly drawn at every event.

The next event is this Saturday, at 7pm with Castle Crush at Another Castle Edmonds. Afterwards, we visit the Ruckus Room in Bellingham on Sunday April 8th at 4pm. Both of these events are IFPA Sanctioned and contribute to your 2018 IFPA Washington State Ranking.

Volunteer your games for this year's Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show, June 8-10! This non-profit show would not be possible to put on without your help volunteering time and games to make it happen. The game list is starting to grow, but we will need hundreds more games. There are lots of incentives with bringing games, but the most important ones are sharing our hobby with the general public and building the biggest arcade the Northwest has ever seen:

Thanks! -Dan and the entire NWPAS crew

We are pleased to announce that for the first time, one of the seminars at NWPAS will be focused on competitive pinball play. Mark your calendars for Friday June 8, 7-8pm, we will have a batlle of the world champions! Here's the summary:

Clash of Champions! ROBERT VS RAYMOND!

hosted by Chase Nunes of GeekGamer.TV

Raymond Davidson, a Washington State native and reigning IFPA World and US National Champion is going head-to-head against Robert Gagno, a British Columbia native, 2016 PAPA World Champion, and player portrayed in the documentary "Wizard Mode" by Salazar Film. Raymond and Robert will be going up against each other for the biggest cash prize of them all - one dollar! Which will go to the winner of a special challenge played during the seminar. During the clash, host and Pinball Broadcaster, Chase Nunes and his co-host, will also be asking them to explain what's going through their mind as they play, their strategy…..all while they chat with the host and audience! We will be taking questions during the seminar as well! So please join us for this entertaining, educational and competitive hour of pinball wizardry and of course meeting two of the best players in the entire world - who just happen to live and play alongside us in the Pacific Northwest!

nwpinball Do you know if the new JJPPOTC will be at the show this year?

While I don't know for a fact at this moment, Butch and David Thiel are doing a seminar on it, so I'm assuming we will have it. The Wizard of Oz debuted at the Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show and we've always had a great relationships with Jersey Jack and have their pins way ahead of market at every show.

Did you know for the past couple years our show has featured the largest women's pinball tournament in the world? This year's women's tournament promises to be even bigger given the growth of this tournament, the increasing numbers of women playing pinball, and the grand prize of a brand new Hobbit pinball machine! A big part of the growing women's pinball scene locally is because of the Babes in Pinland tournament that was started many years ago by our pal Kayla. It's been a consistent event for women to meet at, compete, share tips, support each other and grow the community. In recognition of this great monthly women's pinball tournament, tomorrow's tourney will include a bunch of prize packages including 3-day passes to the show, a winner's plaque and free entries into the show tournaments! See you there!!!

54 women participated in the Babes in Pinland - NWPAS Special Edition 2018, which would make that the second largest women's tournament to have ever taken place per IFPA (The NW Women's Championship at NWPAS is first!). This allowed us to award EIGHT packages, total value over $1000!

Mika Rollin took the win. Tied for second are Emily Beirne, Sophie Malloy, Julie Gray, Candace Fields, and Stacey Lou Moritz. Tied for seventh are Justina Russo and Kelsie Sherman-Hall. Each of them win a weekend pass to the Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show, entry into the NW Women's Championship, Open Match Play, and Classic PinGolf events. Candace, Emily, and Kelsie also earned an entry into the Rookie&Amateur Match Play tournament.

Congratulations to all the winners. Next stop for the 2018 NWPAS Tournaments Satellite Series is the NWPAS Satellite Special Jupitourney Edition at Jupiter in downtown Seattle.

It turns out our game submission form for the Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show was creating a lot of problems for people trying to log in, we've simplified it to a no log-in system to make things easier, it's at: http://www.nwpinballshow.com/volunteer/games

And we still need lots of pinball games! The arcade crowd is beating the pinball crowd in volunteering their games, this can not stand! Seriously, we need about 150 more pins to get signed up and the deadline for submitting them for show transportation is May 18th. We can't do this show without your help!

    #61 5 years ago

Correct. One of the major complaints about some of the pinball shows is games start getting pulled after the first day of the show and by the last day over half the games are gone or turned off. That also hurts attendance and vendor sales the last day of those shows. Our show is different in a few ways:

-We don't just have a freeplay area, all 400+ games are on freeplay all the hours the show is open.
-98%+ of the games on the floor are working. We do repair parties leading up to the show, we expect games to show up working well, and we have a great team of volunteer techs that keep games up and running the entire show. It breaks, in most cases we fix it.
-All the games on the floor when the show starts Friday at noon stay on the floor until we close Sunday at 3pm. If you can only attend the show one day, you are guaranteed to get the full experience and not find half the games gone or turned off. You can show up on Sunday and get to play all the games that were there on Friday and Saturday.

We think these are highlights of our show that make it a great experience for everyone that attends. We know for some individuals only attending one day that want to bring or buy a game, this may not be the ideal situation, but in the bigger picture this works the best for the vast majority of attendees. This is a volunteer, non-profit show that's audience is collectors, the world's top tournament players, families and the general public. We get tons of praise for this approach from attendees, the vendors (who have great sales on the final day because it's still heavily attended), and our speakers and guests from the pinball industry--it's part of why many consider this one of the best shows in the nation.

    #67 5 years ago

People will start posting for sale ads with pick up at the show soon, a ton of deals go down with games and parts that aren't on the floor. There is also a board at the show for selling and wanting to buy that gets a lot of action with games on and off the floor. Seattle is a hot market for pins, our prices might run higher than where you are at, that's something to keep in mind.

    Quoted from Humph:

Will any vendors be selling PDI, Invisiglass, or the new Stern glass at the show to avoid shipping costs?
Tommy from Nitro brought some sheets last year.
Myself & some buddies would like to purchase some again.

I would check with Tommy, I would bet he will. He's planning a much bigger booth this year, but I don't yet have the details.

A little over 3 weeks out to the show and we are up to about 340 games, we definitely expect to go over 400. With the exception of the tournament games, all the games will be on freeplay for the entire show. No games will be pulled early from the floor! If you see it on the game list you can come and play it Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Here's what has been volunteered so far, much more coming...

A huge thanks goes out to the Northwest collector community for all the hard work you've been doing on getting your games ready for the Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show in 3 weeks! Also for the help so many of you have been providing for each other, sharing parts, helping each other fix games, giving repair advice, hauling games to each other's houses, volunteering to stage games for transport, etc. That's huge and we can't understate how awesome the Pacific Northwest collector community is at helping each other out and making this show happen.

And thanks so much to everyone who has volunteered their games so far! As of this morning we were at 326 games plus another 36 in the tournament. 362! We are almost to our goal of 400 and I feel confident with that last minute entries today for show transportation, all the self-transport games not yet listed and the vendor games, we will reach our goal!

This is a reminder that today is the last day to submit games for show transportation. You can always swap out a game in the next 3 weeks for another, but the awesome show transportation crew needs the exact count at each pick up location to start plotting out their routes. So if you want show transportation, please list your games before midnight tonight!

You can register them at: http://www.nwpinballshow.com/volunteer/games

Thanks from the NWPAAS Board and all the volunteers that make this show happen!

We are pleased to announce that the grand raffle prize at the 2018 Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show, June 8th-10th at the Tacoma Convention Center in Washington State, will be a brand new Houdini!

We enter the final week of NWPAS Satellites with FOUR events! Two of those events are TODAY! Here's what we have left. Remember registration closes 10 minutes prior to the posted Start Time so get there early enough to register and practice.

TODAY (Sun 5/20), in just a couple of hours, at 1:00pm, if you're in or near Portland, drop by Ground Kontrol for South of Northwest. This is a 5-round Match Play, no playoff.

Also TODAY, in downtown Seattle, Belltown Brawl at Shorty's, 7:00pm. Note that the format of this tourney has changed to 3-strike Knockout, to better accommodate the layout of the location. Tournament registration and scoreboard will be setup near the front door (and not the back room) to cater to everyone who enjoys hanging out on the patio between rounds.

On Thursday at 8:00pm, the popular All Match Multi-Play takes place, with Georgetown Flip-offs at Flip Flip Ding Ding. This tournament is capped at 63 and has sold out previously, so don't wait until the last minute to register.

And to close out the series, as we've done each of the past few years, is with the Memorial Day Masters at 8-Bit Arcade, on Memorial day (Mon 5/28). This is a PinGolf event that mirrors the qualifying round of the Classic PinGolf event at the show. Tee-off times are available between Noon and 5:30pm. Sign up now at https://tinyurl.com/memorial-day-masters. Note that there are no finals, so if you play early, you do not need to stick around all day for a playoff round. Rather, results after qualifying round are the final results. Players will be notified through email or Facebook of details if they win (if you get this email, we have your email address.)

And are you wondering what machines will be used at the show? The first half was revealed last week in a GeekGamer.tv live pre-show of the NWPAS Satellite at the Nitro Showroom in Marysville. Watch the recorded video here: https://www.facebook.com/geekgamertv/videos/1686526881429631/. The remaining machines will be announced at some point in the next week. Stay tuned!

Are you concerned with what you'll do without this weekly dose of satellite tournaments? Shortly after the tournaments at the Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show, the Northwest Pinball Championships (NWPC), NWPAS's sister tournament as it was spawned from the show, will begin a similar Pre-Tournament Series leading up to their event in August. Check out the details here: Northwest Pinball Championships 2018 Pre-Tournaments.

The rumors are true, there will be nine Iron Maiden pinball machines at the show! We tried for 666, but could only get 9 in time.

    Quoted from HighVoltage:

Will any of those be premiums?

Yes, most will be! 7 premiums and 2 pros! All at the Marco booth, along with 5 Aerosmiths, 4 Batman 66s and a Guardians of the Galaxy. 19 new games at their booth. Tommy will have a bunch of great new titles in the Nitro booth as well!

    #87 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mbecker:

    Make that 2x sw prem

Was one just requested in the last couple days? So far only one on the game list, but that's great news!

    #89 5 years ago

I think the cut off for pins for the Marco booth is tomorrow, so there will probably be a few late editions!

    #90 5 years ago

    Correction, cut off is today!

    #93 5 years ago

If you did it directly through Marco and didn't talk to the person that arranges it for the show, it simply just didn't make it in our count and gamelist. There is going to be like 22 new games in their booth, maybe more!

The winner of the Northwest Pinball & Arcade satellite at the Triple Knock this week, taking home a plaque, a 3-day pass to the show, and entries into the tournaments. The Triple Knock is Tacoma's finest pinball bar, a sponsor of the show, and will be hosting a show after party on the Saturday night!

The NWPAS Satellite Special Jupitourney Edition brought in 44 players, to make it the largest tourney to date at Jupiter Bar since they've opened. This allowed us to award six packages to attend the 2018 Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show, including a weekend pass and entry into the Match Play and Classic PinGolf tournaments.

Todd Larsen takes the win, and in the photo demonstrates his luminous character. Neil Kubath, Michael Adcock, and Jesse Labbe tied for second. Brian Headley wins a tie-breaker for 5th. And Corey Klier (not pictured) wins the guaranteed Rookie/Amateur prize.

The Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show is just one week away! Do you like hanging out with fellow pinball collectors talking about games and helping each other out? We'd love more people to help with set up and tear down of the show. It's fun, there's food, and a lot of people always makes it go smoother.

    Times help is most crucial:
-Thursday morning starting at 7-8am unloading the first trucks, as well as all day Thursday unloading and setting up games
-Sunday afternoon 3pm-6pm breaking down pins and getting the first load of games on the trucks to go home

Bonus points if you bring your own tools and/or a handtruck, the show has some, but we can always use more!

For sure there will be a new Jersey Jack Pirates, the Seattle Pinball Museum just got one a few days ago and will be bringing it to the show, there will be a seminar on it on Friday from 2-3pm with Butch Peel and maybe David Thiel if he makes it back to town in time.

I don't think there will be an Alice Cooper, but there will be 9 Iron Maidens and at least 4 Houdinis.

I have a pick up planned. Another machine for the show and the settle area. so I'm full. planned by a local pinsider. thank you everyone.

Nice, I'm glad that worked out!

This represents machines for two people.
Friendly reminder: bring your headphones ( ) for a better experience!

That's right, Victor puts headphone jacks in all his games. I've been meaning to do this with a few of mine.

can't wait. I took a vacation day for Friday. Any meetups during the day? I would love to say hi to a few fellow pinsiders

I don't think any are planned. I'd definitely come to one if it's planned and I'm free, but I pretty much have to be on call for when the press shows up most of Friday and Saturday.

    #125 5 years ago

I'll be down Thursday afternoon at set up and will be staying there through the first couple hours of breakdown. And you will probably see me in a Pacman suit at least once each day.

    GAME PREP FOR SHOW
Thanks for volunteering your games! You make this show happen! If you are self-transporting, please review the instructions in this message as well, your assistance will keep the machines flowing smoothly in and out of the Tacoma Convention Center. If you are getting show transportation, you should be hearing from your diver about your pick up day/time shortly!

Preparing your games for show transportation pickup:
    • Pinball games must be broken down, including removing the legs, and securing the head to the cabinet (if possible). Pinballs must be removed from the machine, placed in a Ziploc bag along with leg bolts, backbox bolts, and the keys. The bag must be taped or shrink wrapped to the legs. All 4 legs must be shrink wrapped or taped together, and labeled with the machine and owner name.
    • Arcade games, consider putting the cord inside the cabinet. Attach the keys to the game with a Ziploc baggie in the coin door, zip tie to the joystick or painters tape to the back. Please do NOT leave the keys in the locks.
    • We request both pins and vids be wrapped with shrink wrap (wide/heavy plastic wrap available at Costco Home Centers and other locations). Even if you are not worried about the possibility of a minor scuff or scratch, the drivers will be more comfortable if the game is protected and will be able to move games a little quicker.
    • Please attach a label with your name and the machine name so that it can easily be identified and returned to you on the correct truck. Blue painters tape or an 8.5" x 11" paper with large writing can work well for labeling your machines:
-For vids, place label near the top on the back of the game
-For pins, place label on the underside of the cabinet or near the front of the machine so it is visible when the machine is stood up on it's back
    • Safety check! Please make sure your machine is grounded and nobody can get shocked from playing it, refer to some safety tips here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vSuo8vNIjvI_toN3whY_muC8BzpXIRK4TfX1ZYVSB3Q
Note the document refers to arcades, the same info applies to pins.

    Pickup/Dropoff site preparation:
    • Please have your machine where it is easiest for us to pick up. That means a ground floor room or garage. We may not be able to do the pickup if you have a stairs or a steep incline to deal with. We will not pick up machines from an upstairs location without prior arrangements being made.
    • Please make sure that the pathway from the games to the truck is clear and accessible prior to pickup and delivery.
    • The area where the truck will park and load/unload games should be easily accessible - please move vehicles out of the way so the truck can park.
    • When the truck arrives, please meet the driver and point out any obstacles such as low tree branches, soft ground, or other things that the driver should avoid.
    • Please be prepared to assist with the loading/unloading of your games as much as possible. The drivers are moving dozens of games each and a little help will make their jobs easier.

Proper preparation will speed the loading/unloading of your games and make the stop go as quickly and safely as possible. We want to be as flexible as possible but with the number of machines being transported, we will not be able to transport machines that are not prepared for pickup. If you cannot prep your machines or have them available in an easy to access location, please let us know so we can find someone to help you get them set up.

The driver picking up your games will contact you to schedule the pickup and deliveries for your machines. Please be flexible! The first loads are picked up in the late afternoon and evening on Wednesday June 7th. The rest of the pick ups can be anytime during the day of Thursday June 8th. The games will be returned in the late afternoon or evening on Sunday. Sunday's deliveries can run really late and stretch to Monday morning, please be patient, your driver will update you on pick up and delivery times.

    For self-transportation:

    • IMPORTANT >>> You may bring your games to the Tacoma Convention Center loading dock Thursday, June 7th, between 7:30am-8pm and Friday between 7:30am-10am. Thursday is highly preferred! We encourage folks to set up their own machines whenever possible.
    • The Tacoma Convention Center is located at: 1500 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402
    • Driving, parking and transit directions are here: http://www.gtctc.org/attend-overview/directions-parking
    • The loading dock is located on the west side of the Convention Center on Market street.
    • When it comes time to pick up your games on Sunday, please do not bring your vehicle into the loading dock area until AFTER the first group of trucks have been loaded and are out on their route. Plan on starting to load your vehicle no sooner than 4:30pm. Check with a member of the load-out crew to make sure that the area is clear of trucks before you bring your vehicle into the area and start loading. The game show trucks will be working until late at night, and everyone will get done sooner if the trucks receive FIRST PRIORITY for loading and unloading. If you can help break down and wrap games and get the first wave of trucks loaded, even better!

Thanks so much, without your help, we wouldn't have a show! If you have any questions, please contact one of the following folks from the transportation committee:

    Toby Udman, [email protected], 425-314-5192

    Justin Rudebaugh, [email protected], 253-777-8587

This week has already been crazy, I've been running around helping people fix games, helped someone haul 3 Atari vectors out of a basement to stage them in their garage for pickup, got my games and another collectors all staged at my house, and am fielding dozens of last minute questions and problems. But tonight my games get picked up, and tomorrow we do load in and set up, it's go time!

    #141 5 years ago

There are going to be some neat games this year, from all the new titles to some of the older and rare stuff. Plus for I think the first time we are going to have 4 networked Rush the Rock driving games, who wants to race?

    #145 5 years ago

I try to make things easy for the truck volunteers, so I brought all my games to the street and was ready for them when they arrived. About 15 cars stopped and asked if I was giving away free pinball and arcade games... yeah right! Also met a number of my neighbors and handed out show flyers! This first load was picked up last night and is already unloaded at the Convention Center and the guys are on their second run.

Looks like we will have 450-500 games this year, we are running out of space! All games will be on freeplay the entire weekend!

    #189 5 years ago

It's the final day of the show and it's been a great one, with more people and games than ever before! The game count ended up around 460. That means breakdown is going to be more work and take longer than in previous years. If you are available for even an hour or two this afternoon when the show ends, it would be awesome if you could help break down and wrap up a few games. The faster we get the first set of trucks loaded and on the road, the smoother the entire rest of the evening will go for the transportation crew! And if you have games here, it's always nice to break down and pack your own games.

    Thanks!!!!

    Quoted from WolfManCat:

This thing going to die down tonight? Would be nice to be able to play something.
Show desperately needs a pay to play area.<

If you see this kindly point out the card on the back box that says they are specifically limited to one game if a person is waiting behind them. This behavior should be stopped before those doing it consider what they're doing as normal and accepted. It's just common courtesy to let someone waiting to play actually play.
I provide my machines so that everyone can play them and enjoy them.
Thanks for pointing it out. I might start "policing" my machines. I know I've seen a lot of the "usual" people trying to clean me out of my Safe Cracker tokens.

I think we need to have some larger signs near registration and the entrance about game etiquette. My feeling is the general public just doesn't understand or get it and the print is too small and hard to spot on the small game info signs. This is mostly about figuring out how to communicate it to attendees more effectively.

    Quoted from thelazybman:

If you were loading a game up after the show, outside the back gate. I might have your missing item. PM me --only 1 guess per

I think someone forgot the legs to their new Iron Maiden, they called in about it while we were still breaking down pins. If you found these and the owner didn't speak up yet, Justin R can put you in touch with them.

    #210 5 years ago

Both could help. I personally have a hard time hearing the announcements at the show, even when Byron pre-records them in a studio. It's just such a giant airplane hangar type of place, the words get mostly lost, I can tell their are announcements going on, but can really only catch them if I'm standing in the right place.

    #212 5 years ago
    Quoted from BorgDog:

I can't understand a single thing in the announcements, they just add to the overall noise of the place, not in a good way.

Oh, good, it's not just me! I've wondered for the past few years if we should do them when most people can't understand them or tune them out.

I think part of our mission of increasing awareness of the hobby, collecting and repairing games and it's resulting growing popularity means increasing people's awareness of game etiquette, and we can all do our part there. Seriously, most of these people don't know better, for a lot of them it's their first time at a show. We want them to have a fun experience, come back, and maybe start collecting games, we just need to guide their interest with a few best practices. I definitely think we as the show can work on better ways to communicate starting one game at a time and looking around to see if anyone is waiting. Once that clicks with someone, they realize it's in their best benefit too when they are waiting to play games.

I highly recommend for the collector crowd, picking and choosing the less busy times of the show, especially if you are staying down in Tacoma. All of Friday there are barely any lines at all. And at night about the time of the 10pm raffle the crowd all gathers in the front and then leaves. There is a sweet spot between 10pm-11:30pm when you could walk up to any of the new Sterns and play a game. I personally don't even bother trying to play games on Saturday during the day, I know that's the day the general population/non-collectors are going to come and it is always the most busy. Besides, I'm usually fixing games and freeing stuck balls then

It's not any different than when you go to Add A Ball, Coindexter's, the Jupiter or any other popular local barcade on a Friday or Saturday night. They get so packed lines form at games and people don't know better and start game after game without realizing people are waiting. This is a larger education issue we as a community need to work on. Kinda like people who don't stand to the right on an escalator so people can pass or people that drive slow in the fast lane.

    #238 5 years ago
    Quoted from WolfManCat:

    More
He was aggressively bumping, shaking and raging between drained balls. Smacking both sides of the cabinet around the flipper buttons and shoving the apron. Im sure its fine but it was all just a little unnerving knowing that it was somebody elses pin.

    Oh, so typical tournament player

I think we plan to squeeze a few more vendors in next year. What they sell is mostly up to what they can haul or ship easily. Unfortunately we don't have a big local parts vendor, so that's always going to be limited. Starship Fantasy and Rob/Lock When Lit drive all their stuff out, but most vendors aren't willing to do that. That said, the vendors sell more product at our show than any other, I'm surprised more aren't willing to do that. But Washington State is the far corner of the country and a long trip for most people.

A swap meet is a no go at the Convention Center, they have pretty strict regulations for who can sell and registering and licensing. We've been open all along to someone organizing one in a nearby parking lot or something, but we have no one that's part of the show that wants to take it on. For any new thing added, we need a new person to spearhead it, everyone has so much on their plate already. My general response to new suggestions is "Sounds great, want to do it?" It's a volunteer run show.

There are some decent sitting areas in the lobby and cafeteria area with lots of tables and chairs. I really wish they had a bar area, the bar in the hotel everyone stays in accross the street, the Marriott, becomes the de-facto meet up spot. The Convention Center is building it's own hotel right now, so hopefully that will give us alot more options in future years.

Glad you had fun, it was a really great show this year. So many more games and it mostly ran really smoothly. Having done it so many times, it gets easier and easier. And it was great to have so many new people volunteering games, volunteering to help, and attending. I love seeing our hobby grow and succeed and seeing all the people coming down playing vids and pins like it's the 1980s or early 90s again.

    Quoted from Jackalwere:

There was a guy that had a 4 player game going on Lexi, I walked away because I didn't have time to wait. Disappointed I didn't get to play that one.

That was a game I liked way more than I thought I would. It felt next gen, pushing the envelope of what pinball could be, but also still felt really grounded in a traditional pinball feel. I played a game or two on it every day of the show, including with friends and everyone was into it.

    #250 5 years ago

For some reason I thought there would be more like 750 plays on popular machines, it surprises me that a new Iron Maiden had less than 500 plays when it looked like those games got steady play the entire show!

    #258 5 years ago

The dates for next year's show are May 31st-June 2nd 2019. We shouldn't conflict with Southern Fried or Colorado, which is awesome. Schedule your time off work now, time to start preppin' your games!

    #264 5 years ago

Victor has done it in all his games and it totally makes a difference at a show where you can barely hear the game you are playing.

    #276 5 years ago
    Quoted from ypurchn:

Any show shirts leftover and for sale?

Nope, for the first time ever we sold out of all shirts! Attendance I think had a big jump this year, all the vendors did really well.

    #277 5 years ago
    Quoted from Kkuoppamaki:

Loved the show, thank you organizers, volunteers and in particular everyone bringing their games to the show. My only complaint, they closed the bar area and stopped selling beer at 8pm on Friday (that’s criminal)!

The convention center is building a hotel attached to it, I'm hoping that will mean there will be more options for food, drinks and party spaces within the enlarged complex.

    #288 5 years ago
    Quoted from dasvis:

What is the projected completion date of the new hotel attached to the convention center?

It looks like 2020, so not next year, the year after: https://tacomaconventioncenter.org/hotel

I'd like to try to plan an after show party Friday or Saturday night close to the venue. It's a bummer the Marriot hotel bar closes at like 10pm, The Swiss usually has a band (or awful cover band), the Rock Pizza place is packed an not open very late... and there are usually a bunch of people looking for a bar and space to hang out at and have a few drinks and meet and greet and talk about collecting. We can make this happen!

    #292 5 years ago
    Quoted from dasvis:

Would we have to wear funny hats?

    I hope so!
