    Quoted from cavalier88z24:

Thank you good to know. I'm coming from Wisconsin and I'm driving back on Sunday morning.EARLY. not staying sunday. so if i buy a game out there I just won't check it in. because of my time schedule. just good info to know.

This might be obvious but it's worth spelling out explicitly.

Some games on the show floor may be for sale. If you purchase one that is on the show floor it must remain on the show floor for the duration of the show.

    Quoted from dasvis:

Holy crap! How many are you bringing to the show?

This represents machines for two people.

Friendly reminder: bring your headphones ( ) for a better experience!

    Quoted from pumpkinlad:

Agreed 100%, most people are not following the 1 game rule especially when people are behind them leading to a ton of waiting around and not a ton of play time.

If you see this kindly point out the card on the back box that says they are specifically limited to one game if a person is waiting behind them. This behavior should be stopped before those doing it consider what they're doing as normal and accepted. It's just common courtesy to let someone waiting to play actually play.

I provide my machines so that everyone can play them and enjoy them.

Thanks for pointing it out. I might start "policing" my machines. I know I've seen a lot of the "usual" people trying to clean me out of my Safe Cracker tokens.

i hope so. it's been non stop since noon

It was great to meet you at the show. Thanks for making the drive all the way out to the show. Hope you enjoyed it and would consider coming back another year (perhaps we could arrange a WPC machine trade). Have a safe journey back!

    Quoted from WolfManCat:

On another note, you may want to add something on your big sign warning about abusing the machines. I saw some dude banging the crap out of somebodies White Water while I was playing NGG. I just kept imagining it was me who brought it to the show and how unhappy that would have made me.

Yikes. That was my Whitewater they were "banging the crap out of". What exactly is "banging the crap out of"? Was it aggressive shaking or lifting the cabinet and dropping or banging on the coin door?

    Quoted from WolfManCat:

Also just like to say thanks to all the people that made this happen. Good job!

Agreed 100%. The crew deserves major props!!!

    Quoted from WolfManCat:

He was aggressively bumping, shaking and raging between drained balls. Smacking both sides of the cabinet around the flipper buttons and shoving the apron. Im sure its fine but it was all just a little unnerving knowing that it was somebody elses pin.

The machines are built to take that level of abuse. That Whitewater cabinet is in pretty rough shape (as well as the playfield).

I usually make my games easy for players so the general public has fun. Unfortunately (as Dan has suggested that it's a tournament player) the tournament players usually "abuse" my machines by taking advantage of the easy playing conditions. I might consider setting the tilt plumb bobs really tight. Most members of the general public don't even want to lightly push the machine. I saw one guy play my TZ last year and got LITZ *TWICE* in one game. You'd think he'd just walk away from it not being much of a challenge.

For those interested in statistics I have interim stats ... interim because the numbers only cover Friday and Saturday. The rush to close down on Sunday meant that I didn't go through the machines and collect the audits before power off. The final numbers probably won't be available for another few weeks. I'd consider posting an update if there's interest in stats (I know it's not everyone's interest). I am interested in the final counts. I don't think any machine of mine has broken 600 plays and only a handful break 550 plays during the course of the show.

The first column is the count of plays on Friday. The second column is Saturday. The third (empty) column is Sunday. The final is the total (Friday and Saturday only).

    181 | 271 | - | 452 = Laser War
    176 | 241 | - | 417 = Black Knight 2000
    185 | 305 | - | 490 = Whirlwind
    136 | 226 | - | 362 = Terminator 2
    201 | 279 | - | 480 = The Addams Family
    179 | 283 | - | 462 = Fish Tales
    195 | 271 | - | 466 = White Water
    218 | 281 | - | 499 = Bram Stoker's Dracula
    188 | 224 | - | 412 = Twilight Zone
    165 | 183 | - | 348 = Indiana Jones
    165 | 155 | - | 320 = Star Trek: The Next Generation
    162 | 217 | - | 379 = Theatre of Magic
    141 | 184 | - | 325 = Safe Cracker
    130 | 196 | - | 326 = No Good Gofers
    186 | 237 | - | 423 = Monster Bash
    172 | 253 | - | 425 = Lord of the Rings

I've been trying to explain the difference between counts as perhaps "popularity". I think shorter games results in more games played. BSD is drain monster (especially with lightning flippers).

Star Trek (TNG) was down more than I would like. That explains the lower count. I need to spend some time figuring out what's wrong to make it more reliable. The machine was completely rebuilt two shows ago so it should be something simple.

Safe Cracker games are longer than average from what I've seen (board game can take up a lot of time). There were a lot of 3 and 4 player games on the Safe Cracker (by the same crowd of players) and I'm also wondering if the audit counts multiple player games as a single "game played" in the count.

I put in a total of 120 tokens.

    50x brass "10 year"
    10x nickel-plated "10 year"
    50x brass "Safe Cracker"
    10x nickel-plated "Safe Cracker"

    There was a 1 in 5 chance of getting a nickel-plated token.

The machine dispensed a total of 68 tokens.

    24x brass "10 year"
    7x nickel-plated "10 year"
    32x brass "Safe Cracker"
    5x nickel-plated "Safe Cracker"

    Quoted from nwpinball:

For some reason I thought there would be more like 750 plays on popular machines, it surprises me that a new Iron Maiden had less than 500 plays when it looked like those games got steady play the entire show!

I'm going to get all scientific on you. My apologies.

    Friday 12pm-11:30pm = 11.5 hours.
    Saturday 10am-11:30pm = 13.5 hours.
    Sunday 9am-3pm = 6 hours.

    31 hours = 1,860 minutes.

    1,860 minutes / 750 games = 2.48 (2-1/2) minutes per game.
    1,860 minutes / 500 games = 3.72 (3-3/4) minutes per game.

How long does a game on Iron Maiden last?

    Quoted from genex:

DumbAss was your Whirlwind the one with the headphone jack? Man that was amazing - was telling everyone to plug in. Is really sweet playing that way - thanks so much!!!!

As others have said ... yes. I tap people wearing headphones connected to their phone (instead of the headphone jack) and point them to the headphone jack. Some get it. Some just give me a blank stare. They probably think the game has no audio at all. I need to figure out a better way to message this but my machines are in the minority so it's not something that an attendee expects to see on a machine.

I'm with you. Once you've played a game with headphone capability (at a loud venue) you never want to play any other way. What disappoints me is that an attendee is missing an integral part of the game. Audio cues are super important when you're visually focused on the ball. Plus some games feature humor like The Champion Pub and No Good Gofers and you can't hear them taunting or insulting you.
