Created a poll for this. Let's see how saavy the Pinside community is with horses.

I'm saying Audible for the win, Justify in place.

If you're looking for a longshot, Noble Indy.

Going to the derby I'll bet on the winning pony of the poll - I'll contribute the winnings to the project pinball group because I am sure we're going to win. $100 to win what will it be

"other" could win the poll, then what?

In that case, you hafta root for an underdog to get on the podium to recoup..

I have to do that just to break even on the mint julipis

I'm a fan of the one that will be shot and turned to glue.

I just work on them, don't follow the action at the track.

Went with Magnum Moon -- Who doesn't like a large celestial body?

I will be betting, not sure on which yet. Usually do a bunch of $2 superfecta picks. Hit it two years ago and won $1,300 then bought a new grill and meteor pinball. Hell yea!

Hmmm, no. Unless you mean something else altogether I am not understanding.

There are 20 horses in the race, placing a minimum $2 bet on each horse to show would cost=$40

2017 Ky Derby paid as follows for show bets.

Winner=5.80
Place=15.20
Show=20.80
--------------
Total=41.80
Bets=40
-------------
Net=1.80 and that's before whatever takeout the OTB gets.

Also, the 2nd and 3rd place horses were both longshots so those amounts are higher than normal.

Yep, superfecta is where it's at! I have not hit one yet in the Ky Derby but it's a goal.

A few years ago the $1Sfc paid over 75K!

I know, I was going ape shit when my numbers hit waiting for the payoff amounts.

Hmm I am not sure it was for my mother in law - i thought that was the bet but clearly not.

I'm guessing what she meant was she put $100 on one of those top three horses.

So if you bet $100 to show on the winner from 2017, you would have gotten back almost $300 which is not bad. Over 1k if you had bet that same money on the show horse instead.

Don't forget at least 2 horses will withdraw before posting.

Mendelssohn leading the poll? I don't expect him to make the top three!
