Word. I got my last day needed approved to go...now I just have to figure out funding and accomodations. /facepalm

Bring that Farfalla, which I repaired the boards for the previous owner, so that will get you into the show for free.

$82 per night hotel rooms are still available.

BD_Designs I hope you can help get a Domino's Pizza pin down here for the show.

Well, the shirt design is a little more polished than the original flyer so I just wanted interested buyers to see what they're getting

And yeah, I have a feeling we will be able to make that happen! Also, we're hoping to do the Domino's panel around lunchtime on that Saturday so there might be free pizza to go along with it!

Thanks! Wasn't bad at all, $328 non-stop Delta flight. Trying to squeeze in one last show before the year end which makes for TPF, PAGG, RMPS and first time to Houston. Trying to convince a couple of others to join me. Order extra beer.

Weekend bump. Get those games committed and listed for a free weekend pass with each game you bring.

HAAG last year was my favorite show I've ever been to. It keeps getting better and better each year. You'll love it!

Yeaaaaah...if I was bringing a game (only have room to bring 1 without renting a truck or something, which I ain't doing..) it would probably be Farfalla or Crescendo...neither of which I'm really all that anxious to submit to the rigors of a 480 mile trip. Suuuuuper paranoid about the backglasses on both of these games.

    #123 7 years ago

The backglass is the main thing I worry about when bringing a machine to Hou Expo and to TPF in frisco, Tx -- coming from south Louisiana. So far no problems over the past 4 yrs.

    #124 7 years ago

I didn't say I was being logical OR reasonable about it, but I can take a stab at it.

Specifically with Crescendo...that backglass is known to flake badly in a lot of cases, and mine is really quite excellent overall, short of one place I had to tape near the credit reel. Also, there's like NO demand for Crescendo parts at all other than the drop targets, so I know that thing is never going to get re-run. Temperature shock worries me...my wife can't go anywhere without the A/C running full blast, though I guess weather will be cooler by then....so not so hard on it.. Hm....

Farfalla...it's the whole plastic molded insert. I haven't had the balls to even try to futz with that thing. But again...unonbtainum if it gets jacked up.

For any traveling and worried about backglasses, I found a cool box. Not sure if it's been posted on pinside before.

Anchorbox.com has what they call a mirror box. 30" x 40" x 3". The dims are misleading since it's a sliding box. One half slides into the other. Mine is 30x30 right now. Perfect for wrapped glasses.

A pack of bubble wrap and my two xenon glasses are safe and sound during a resto. Box is only $5 or so plus shipping...

    #146 7 years ago

This would be my first time at a pinball expo. Just have a few questions:

    Are children allowed?
    Do they sell beer inside?
    Do they sell food?

    Thanks!

    #147 7 years ago
    Quoted from KornFreak28:

    Are children allowed?

    More the better.

    Quoted from radium:

Is this something I could bring my 7- and 5-year-old to?

    Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Yes it is. Leave their iPads at home.

    Quoted from bkbirge:

Cool, I'll be there with my 9 year old daughter, looks like a great time!

    Quoted from labnip:

it's totally family friendly, lots of folks bring kids, lots of folks get sitters. your call
it can get loud at night (with the music), but if kids can stay in room with tv, pc & pizza later at night or don't mind the music, then all's well.

    #148 7 years ago
    Quoted from KornFreak28:

    Are children allowed?

And I don't know of any arcade/pinball expo where kids are not allowed.

    #149 7 years ago
    Quoted from KornFreak28:

    Do they sell beer inside?
    Do they sell food?

Yes, there is a cash bar just outside the free play area and they have TV for the must watch college football fans. Ugghh!!!

Also there is a bar, which they do have some food during happy hour.
Anyone know about other times during the day?

Plenty of restaurants within 1 to 5 miles of the hotel.

    #150 7 years ago

Most years we show up Thursday afternoon for load in and leave mid day Sunday. We never leave the hotel for anything. The restaurant has a reasonably decent breakfast buffet, they have a good lunch menu and then the bar is open after 4 and does food orders from the kitchen. There are restaurants and breastrants right across the highway. The show is very family friendly with plenty to do. Its like a smaller, friendlier version of TPF.
