Quoted from visi0n:

Saw that too! I guess we really don't know the full story yet but it will definitely be something to keep an eye out for. I thought about calling up to that location and asking, to be honest - I just haven't gotten around to it today. My fingers are crossed this was just an isolated incident / fluke but whatever happens I have no doubt that JJP will make it right based on my own experiences with them and those of other WoZ owners I've talked to.
The ramps really look nice, if the play-testing did find a weakness(i'm not saying it did), additional tacks of weld won't be the end of the world.
Also, PS: a good thread on this was started: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/th-ramp-issue-at-jackbar-in-nyc-photos

tacks of weld wont fix this problem

I'm hoping for both.

Quoted from cooked71:

I dont know why so many people are caught up on this third flipper.
I love 3rd flippers. I dont care if its got a ramp to shoot at, or a bank of targets, or a witch, or a scoop. Most times the ball goes past the 3rd flipper, I'll hit it with the 3rd flipper.
It's fun. If I dont want to use it, I DONT F****N USE IT! It's really quite simple. I cant think of one reason why it would be better NOT to have it.

I'm sure Keith will make that flipper relevant, but if you want to speculate on what could be better if it that flipper was not there, how about a fast return half loop ramp? Wonder if they thought about that when they removed the upper left flipper...

Quoted from Tigger64:

I remember a few years back Gary Stern talking about how operators hate long games - 30 min game times means the machine is eating coins.
What is the average duration of a game?
And does it make sense to create a game that takes 30+ mins to unlock everything if people only play for 5 minutes?

If operators want quick ball times they can move out the outlane posts.
For home owners that want to see the whole story bring the posts in...

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Have to say that Hobbit looks amazing but question marks re layout.
What I don't get is how is it even possible to design a game with a third flipper and for it not to have killer shots?? Just real basic A, B, C's surely?

Third flipper is in Keith's hands now...

Good point. Bummer then, I guess the player controllable subway got scrapped....why else take it off the flyer.

it may mean the same, just worded differently...

Quoted from sulakd:

Played the Hobbit at Marvin's in Farmington, MI, yesterday. Had a few balls get stuck, one of which could not be bumped loose. Pics below. Need to play more to decide what I think about (what now seems like) the overuse of magnets. Seemed like magnets were constantly grabbing my balls in the upper playfield and sometimes dropping them SDTM. Getting an SDT from having your balls get grabbed is not as fun as it sounds.

There are magnets behind the ramps that drop the balls into the subways but I don't know of any others that would drop them SDTM...
