Quoted from jeffgoldstein2:

Just curious with the latest code on the Hobbit, does the third flipper serve more of a purpose now?

You need to follow pinball keefers explanation here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/2015-hobbit-update-thread/page/35#post-2866362

This thread needs more of this.

But less of those boots.....

Great to see JJP doing the right thing and replacing the ramps. Thank god for test games.

Just wondering if Stern still puts games out on test locations? If not how do they do real world testing?

I dont know why so many people are caught up on this third flipper.

I love 3rd flippers. I dont care if its got a ramp to shoot at, or a bank of targets, or a witch, or a scoop. Most times the ball goes past the 3rd flipper, I'll hit it with the 3rd flipper.

It's fun. If I dont want to use it, I DONT F****N USE IT! It's really quite simple. I cant think of one reason why it would be better NOT to have it.

#653 2 years ago

Fathom also....no need to be there but it's fun.

Quoted from vicjw66:

There was earlier discussion that the broken ramp issue could have been caused by shots from the third flipper to the side of it. Obviously, the more moving parts in a game, the more opportunities for mechanical and electrical failures.

True - was hyperbole. But I'm pretty sure the trolling in this thread about it is not for those reasons. (Actually, the ramp issue happened well after the trolling about the 3rd flipper began).

This game looks better and better every time I see some more footage.

I also didn't realize there was a diverter at the top of the ramps to force a u turn. And u can hit the beasts from the back also - "back stab". I wonder if a u turn from the ramps could make a deliberate back stab to one of the trolls? How cool would that be?

So many people criticize the game for being wide open and nothing to do. There is so much going on in this game, it's just not in your face. It's subtle but clever. With the coding wizardry of KJ, this game will be a true classic.

I also don't buy the " movies are so old now and they were so bad that the theme is not relevant" argument. The Hobbit for me is timeless - it's about the world created by the book which was created decades before the movie. The book always was and still is a classic. The movies may have failed, but the book and theme are no worse as a result.

I haven't even seen the movies and I love this theme.

Quoted from txstargazer3:

Ghostbusters is older than the Hobbit films and Stern will sell a pile of them (if it ever gets announced).

Exactly - and the new movie also looks really bad. Hasn't stopped everyone getting a h**d on for Stern's GB.

Can someone clarify the armour on the Smaug LE? Anyone seen it in person? Is it going to be like the MMR gold?

I'm down for a Smaug, but that LE hammered armour looks sweet.

Also, is Smaug an LE? Will it be numbered? If so how many will be made?

Mustard Gold? don't think so

Smaug all Gold = picture over a year old.
No idea what it looks like. Now though

Must be someone who has actually seen it.

And I notice it is described as "Special Edition" - not "Limited Edition". Could be unlimited.

Amazing looking Smaug Gold SE the GOLD is amazing!!!!

Just saw it on FB also.....Looks incredible.....and that cabinet art is also looking good.

Quoted from dgarrett:

Extra balls are turned off by default........a few point levels that award EB help in exploring.

No extra balls?!?!? That's unusual. I really hope there is a specific eb shot - I'm really not a fan of points based eb's. Is there no eb insert anywhere on the pf?

Thanks for the detailed review dgarrett.

#1209 2 years ago
Quoted from Pimp77:

There are two inserts to collect "extra ball". "Extra" is on the left VUK and "Ball" is on the right VUK. I presume you will need get both to earn the extra ball and I think it's related to the kicking barrels rules? We'll see!

Maybe hasn't been coded in yet?

#1221 2 years ago

What's the verdict on the rad-calls for those that have them vs those that don't? They're a pricey upgrade in Australia (+$500).

Wow, shiny!

#1277 2 years ago

TSPP has almost the exact same ball launch (across mid pf) and the plunger is also weak (at least on mine). But it needs to be in order to hit some of the skill shots esp. comic book guy. Both are Joe Balcer/Kieth Johnson games. So I'm assuming it's deliberate.

Is it so weak that it doesn't make it across the pf with enough speed to hit a target?

Quoted from emkay:

but the more I played, the more I grokked.

Once you grokk you can't stop.

Quoted from FalconPunch:

Not sure if I should watch videos of to new code or leave or leave it to a surprise

Any ideas when AUS delivery will be?

#1287 2 years ago
Quoted from emkay:

I will take video on Wednesday if someone hasn't already. PM me if there's something in particular you want bashed on, I'm not the best shot but I'll do my best.

Has the code been released already?

So glass off throwing the ball around starting as many modes as possible?

Quoted from thewool:

I also asked my distributor in the UK if he thought they were worth the extra loot, as we get stung again with both a poor exchange rate and then 20% tax. He said the stock decals look great, that is enough for me

Exactly what ours said as well.

Im sure the rad-cals look great, but the originals look so good that anyone who has seen the originals haven't bothered with the rad-cals.
