How do you start Into the Fire mode?
And is it just me or does Gandolph sound drunk (think Will Ferrell doing Harry Carry) when he yells "into the fire!" That makes me laugh every time I hear it lol
Quoted from Goronic:How do you start Into the Fire mode?
When "into the fire" insert is flashing hit any hole.
Quoted from Goronic:Also I have had to rely on the third flipper a lot to get the left hole as well as the DWARF targets. Sometime I have to use it to make a last second shot because I don't have time left to get the shot off from the bottom right flipper.
I have my PF pitch at just a hair less the 7 degrees.
I find that backhanding the ball into the holes is the most effective.
The left filpper will backhand directly into the left hole.
The right flipper will backhand directly into the right hole.
Its a very deft maneuver, as the shot is very close to the sling corner, but mastering that has been a real game changer.
The shot is very similar to bashing the spider with the left flipper.
Try it you will be amazed that it can be done.

I think he meant, how's it qualified?
Quoted from pinballinreno:During "into the fire" mode, when Gandolf yells ready, what do I do?
Hit the flashing rainbowy shot. He says Super Jackpot...then pauses...then says Ready. It's a little weird sounding.

5 qualifiers:
1) Play Beast Frenzy
2) Play Smaug multiball
3) Beat a mode
4) Reach Erebor by hitting the spinners
5) Play Feast Frenzy by collecting all the dwarves
If you do those 5 things the Into the Fire insert will flash. Start it by hitting either the Balin or Radagast hole.

I'm wondering if you have to do this 5 things 3 times for each arkenstone mode. Seems that way from the flowchart, but I'm hoping not. Doesn't it seem like this would get too repetitive?

Yes, you have to do this for each Arkenstone mode. It doesn't get repetitive.

Good to hear. Thanks Pimp

Right in time for PINBURGH!

Thanks! That sounds right. Once lit you do have to hit left or right hole to start. Quite a lot of fan fare, music and sound with that one! Barrel escape should be awesome.
I actually had my PF at 8 degrees for a bit and that was way too fast. 6.5 to 7 is ideal.
When did you order/pay?
Quoted from wcbrandes:Just got "the call" looks like arriving right at the end of Aug. Good timing for the fall!
Quoted from bonanza:nobody calls me.
You gotta send money first. Then you get the call.
Quoted from spandol:Without going into details to prevent spoilers, Is Barrel Escape much different from Into The Fire?
It's set up the same with stages, but yes each stage is much different and utilizes different features in the game. Hopefully that is general enough for you.

That's perfect, thanks. I don't have one to play very close, but I will be getting mine in the next 2 -3 months.
HI All,
I just set up my machine...manufactured july 14 so i think i missed the update kit by 1 day
a few issues/questions
the ramp by the beast...when the ball locks it then releases and 1 out of 2 the ball gets stuck when it releases..not sure why its sticking in there... thoughts? i will attach 2 photos showing it... its driving us crazy
originally i though it was the metal on the right side by the bolts as it didn't allign great but i adjusted that and the ball is still hanging after the lock..and not sticking on the side metal flange..
also the dwarf letters..when they reset it gives a loud annoying buzzing.. happens often for about .5 seconds while it resets them..is this normal?
thanks
It looks like the magnet by Smaug is concave. It shouldn't be. If it is you should contact JJP customer service. However if it is flat but sits a little low this will keep the ball from releasing. You can adjust the height with two screws on the magnet/ramp to make it flush. And yes the buzzing is normal. The drop target mechs are an advanced design that is unfortunately quite loud.

Be sure that the core of the electromagnet is flush with the mount. Otherwise the ball will sit on the edge of the hole so to speak. All it takes is a little edge and the ball will sit there, because of the magnetic residue in the magnet core when the electromagnet turns off.
i think the diverter was causing the issue..i may have resolved that with tweaking it a little.
my newest problem is the machine has randomly stopped and rebooted on me at different times
also tonight 2 times it froze/locked up and made a da da da da type noise over and over until rebooted
i applied the newest code yesterday. I read freeze reboot problems on 1.30 not 1.31. I am on 1.31 with the freeze/lockups
also my warg pop up comes up but immediately thinks its defeated without the ball hitting it... seems like it thinks it is hit the moment it pops up??
thoughts?
Larry

Not sure about the reboots. But I had the same issue with my spider - it an easy fix luckily. Raise the PF and lightly put a little more separation on the leaf switch of the warg. That is will fix it
