Yes Derek, I've been waiting for the official word to come out on this. There will be a Calgary contingent coming up for sure. Can't wait!

    #3 8 years ago

We appreciate the support from our friends in Calgary, going to be one hell of a show for sure... Remember free entry for any of you who want to bring a machine up with you

Feel free to post any questions or things you would like to see or even if you are coming to the event gives us a measure of how many collectors are interested in this kind of event...

Help us make this the best show it can be, keep this thread going!!!!!

    #4 8 years ago

Looking forward to the show. A few of us want to book our rooms now. Will there be a redemption code or should we just book them and figure out discount rates later?

    #5 8 years ago

There is no redemption code, you can call the hotel directly (information is on the website) tell them you are attending the expo and they will give you the event rate for the weekend. If you have any issues with this please post and let us know... Be great to see a strong contingent from SK at the event...

    #6 8 years ago

Woohoo! Really looking forward to this, should be a really great time. Derek, what are the differences between the two competitions?

    #7 8 years ago

Will more than likely be going as well. I miss the ones in Calgary. I'll be bringing a few KLOV friends with me as well.

    #8 8 years ago

I will be there. I am not part of any calgary group, just coming.

    #9 8 years ago

In South Edmonton, born and raised.
Inside the arcades is where I spent most of my days.

Heritage, Southgate, Hub and Kingsway Mall.
Is where I developed my skills of the silver ball.

Instead of going to class, within my high school doors.
I was bumping and flipping my way to high scores.

And when I did, I'd enter THC.
To display proudly for all the pinheads to see.

Going, and bringing!! Already booked weekend off work. Good thing, this and then a rescheduled Who concert on the Sunday that weekend. Kind of fitting I'd say!

    Which ones are you bringing?

    #12 8 years ago

Southpark, Flintstones. Space Station if I get it done, if not I'll bring another. Good luck selling your SOF, high demand now and not many out there.....its in pretty nice condition if I remember too.

    #13 8 years ago

Thanks! Yeah, I need to sell it too, I have a Tron on the way to me, and I'm probably going to get a GoT. "Looks like we're going to need a bigger house". Hahah.

When you get your RZ let me know, I really want to try that one out in person! Have they given any indication of ship dates for you yet?

    #14 8 years ago

Glad you asked this question, essentially the format is the same for both tournaments, they just have different qualifying times and the number of qualified machines in play... The machines for the WCPC will be modern machines, where as the DHPL will be solid state and EM's, there will be six qualification machines for WCPC and 4 qualification machines for DCT. You need to play every machine to get a qualification score. Each machine has a 100-0 scoring (PAPA qualifier format) and the top qualifiers move on to the playoff rounds.

    1. Western Canadian Pinball Championship

    http://www.yegpin.com/pinball-tournament/

    2. DHPL Classics Tournament

    http://www.yegpin.com/classics-pinball-tournament/

Best of all the winner of the WCPC gets the prize of a pimped out solid state pinball machine worth over $2000 in value, more hints on what that pinball machine is to come over the next few months on our facebook page.

    Great questions keep them coming!!!!

    #15 8 years ago

Two more pinball machines added to the show and to the website, check it out!!!! Looks like our bring a machine form is working well...

Getting some really awesome titles the collector community is really stepping up 45 pinball machines in total to date!!!!

Let keep it going and make this an awesome showcase event...

    #16 8 years ago

Derek, I committed for 3, if the Station isn't ready, we can arrange another....

    #17 8 years ago

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere but what does the YEG stand for in YEGPIN? I don't see any connection to Edmonton Pinball and Arcade Expo

    #18 8 years ago

YEG is Edmonton's airport code, it has become popular in the past 5-10 years to use airport codes to identify cities because they are easier to input into hashtags, so people can plaster their social media with bullshit hashtags. But, in the context of YEGPIN, it works good because it's symmetrical.

That makes sense...though not really obvious unless you have flown or lived there since YEG isn't exactly a world renowned airport

Hogwash! We have a melting control tower! Hahah

It is a really impressive looking game, very modern looking, and it just strikes me as a quality unit. I found the gameplay to feel a bit sterile and dull, but maybe that's just because of the theme not doing much for me?

    #22 8 years ago

Good question, the name of this event was a heated debate as we wanted to have a catch phase for the event for marketing purposes. Alas is YEGPIN rose from the ashes. YEG - Is the initials used by the Edmonton airport to identify Edmonton, PIN is strictly short for Pinball... There is a connection but mostly it is there as a catchy phase instead of called it 2016 Edmonton Pinball and Arcade Expo all the time... Hope that answers your question, it could have been worse a one unnamed member wanted PINYEG...

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be going to YEGPIN this year

    #24 8 years ago

There is now an official hotel discount code for the Yellowhead Inn for the event on May 6 - 8. Please use discount code YP16, this is now updated on our site.

    #25 8 years ago

We want to give a big shout out Jeff at Pinball Pimp for a silent auction item. They are officially a 'Bronze' Sponsor for the event. I have personally used their products and they are simply the best stencils around so if you are looking to do a restoration don't hesitate to purchase them. Look out for more announcements as we get closer to the event. Thanks again to Pinball Pimp for helping make our expo a success.

    Hello Everyone,

    #28 8 years ago

Bcrage88 - very cool.. your willingness to change the logo speaks volumes on how much you invest in making this event go. Many thanks for all you do for E-town pinball !! I'll be there for event scoring and anything else to assist. Cheers!

    #29 8 years ago

I think a big help to this event is - tell everyone you know too. A lot of people have the idea of "they still make those?". I've been passing it on at work etc. A fair price to get in for tons of playtime! Nothing like word of mouth.

    #30 8 years ago

The silverball logo is my preference. And yes, spread the word, thx volkdrive!

    Sounds great guys!

Few questions...will there be a kids tournament? A women's tournament? An amateur tournament? Also if you preorder you get free tickets, can anyone use those? Ie if my kids or wife don't want to play tourney can I use their free preorder tickets myself?

    #36 8 years ago

We were not planning doing a kids tournament at this point but that is something we would consider, we would need a kids donor machine for this like Shrek or POC but if the masses think it would add value pretty sure I could get a volenteer to run it. There will be no women's tournament this year for sure as there will just be the two open tourneys. However, we may be convinced to give some extra prize money for top women in the spirit of wanting participation for all players. If there are over 100 entrants we would look at making a B side draw for Sunday and limit it to over 1000 rank in IFPA rank. It would be 25 - 32 place. Yes, you can use preorder tickets as you wish, there are unlimited entries in the tournament you can try to increase your score on any machines as long as you have tickets. Preordering is definately one hell of a deal...

    #37 8 years ago

Wow preorder is an awesome deal. Basically a whole free round for both tournaments.

Sounds like a very well organized event guys.

    #38 8 years ago

Thanks, I can tell you there is a lot of effort been done to try to deliver a great event and to keep it sustainable for the future. We have a very strong pinball community generating in Edmonton and Alberta as a whole and it is nice to see the collector community, business 's and local media rallying behind our event. Whether it is donating machines, their time or donating prizes or cash or the public purchasing tickets to the event. You need support for all areas in order to pull off a big event like this and we are doing our best to deliver. Our hope is build it and they will come

    #39 8 years ago

We received two more machines today for a total of 50 machines confirmed at the event, we are at 50% of our goal to date. This is shaping up to be one hell of a show, should have more announcements soon, stay tuned!!!!

    #40 8 years ago

What is this, could there be live streaming and commentators at the tournament event, guess you will have to show up to find out...
