    Quoted from Aurich:

What does Chicagoland mean? Expo sure isn't in Chicago.

Ah, yes. In the suburbs. Where it's cheaper.
Banning isn't the only answer. But Los Angeles "proper" is probably too expensive.

"Chicagoland" is what the entire metropolitan Chicago area (city and suburbs) is referred to by all who reside there. The first time I saw this in print was when I bought a large "Chicagoland" map from the Chicago Tribune in the mid-1970's. Until about ten years ago, Expo was held at the Ramada O'Hare (now remodeled and rebadged as the Holiday Inn Express O'Hare) while technically in Rosemont, that Expo host Hotel was less than a city block from the Chicago City Limits. Expo moved the the Wyndham O'Hare during the remodel of the Ramada, That hotel was a block away making it two blocks away from Chicago.

Most people refer to the Los Angeles Metro area as "L A" like Pomona for Example. But, further East like Rancho Cucamonga or Ontario is the Inland Empire.

Pins are scarce on location in LA partly because once Leah Bettelman passed away, C. A. Robinson was closed as her sons Sandy & Ira did not want to keep it running; It was losing money but Leah kept it open after her husband Al died as she considered the staff family-most were long-term employees at all levels. Their annual open house was the best in the industry; it was basically a mini trade show with many manufacturer reps attending from out of town.

    C. A. Robinson was not only the largest distributor of pins out West, but was a large route operator in the L. A. area as well. The route was split up and sold.

    Quoted from pinwiztom:

According to my pinbuddy John Mohr, Bally only did about 10 games with blue Alpha numeric displays,
I think there were a few Kiss pins that also had this limited factory mod done to.
He also has a EBDlx pin with blue displays as well as some other rarities, including an Solid State BLY FLicker.

    His site, www.pinfixer.com has details.
    John is an A#1 guy.

Thanks for the archive link. I swore I looked at John's website less than a year ago. It was fun playing his machines at his smaller place in SoCal. Never been to his Minnesota place.
