    Quoted from Brandon:

I'm still on the fence about going and if it would be worth the effort. How does this show compare to the Texas Pinball festival?

Not nearly the size, but still very fun. There are multiple rooms available.

One room is basically a replica of the arcades of the 80s/90s. Loud music, black lights, crazy announcers.
Another room is more serene with EM machines, vendors and new technology.
The tournaments are held in their own area, along with a few vendors, and it's a nice change from the other areas.

I highly recommend the HAAG show.

If you plan to attend the Houston Expo this year, the tournament area is offering up a show only special for a Stern Kiss Pro or Stern Game Of Thrones Pro.

If you are interested in, please check out the market forum thread for additional information.

    Quoted from labnip:

I could bring some stuff, but don't have a trailer

Get a UHAUL trailer. $40 a day for the covered 6x10 I believe. That will fit 4 games.

    You are welcome.

    Quoted from zr11990:

Is the show this weekend? Shit I need to pay attention.

    Yes. And Yes.

I will be in Houston around 3:30pm on Thursday +/-. I'll be bringing a trailer with 8 machines for the tournament area.

This will include the NIB Kiss Pro and NIB Game Of Thrones.

So I look forward to having an unloading party on Thursday afternoon followed by "tournament setting" testing to follow!

    Quoted from Arcade:

    Marcus.
We will be leaving early Friday morning with the 2001.

Do your best to be here as early as you can. I'll be in the area around 9am (ish).

If you are a tad late, we'll survive.

I have at least 4 to share.

What a terrific weekend! The 2015 Houston Arcade & Pinball Expo Tournament was a huge success! We raised $500 for Flip Off Hunger. TigerLaw has graciously agreed to match our donation, so we raised $1,000 for Flip Off Hunger. That is over 3,000 meals for hungry families over this holidays season! Thanks to all of my tournament players for helping support a very important cause!

The show awarded over $3,000 in cash and prizes. We had a top 20 player (Joshua Henderson), top 40 player (Bob Matthews), top 60 player (Colin MacAlpine) and two top 90 players (Phil Grimaldi, Jon Drew).

Joshua Henderson won the Main Event A Division tournament.
Preston Moncla, current IFPA Texas State Champion, came in second.
    Mark Meserve came in third.
    Jessica Shepherd came in fourth.

For the second time in Houston Expo history, we had a woman in the top 4 of our main event. Jessica Shepherd fought her way through some very tough competition to get to the Top 4. She also won a 1st place trophy & cash for being the top qualified woman in our event. Congratulations to Jessica for her amazing tournament weekend!

I will write up another post with all the winners from this weekend!

    Looking forward to next year!

For those that participated in the Pinball Tournament, which game was your favorite to play?

Did you have a favorite EM? Classic Solid State?

For me, I was pleasantly surprised by Gilligan's Island.

2001 was fantastic. Made me regret passing up on Dimension back in 2013.

Game Of Thrones was very, very good, IMHO. I like the depth of the rules. I like the flow. I think it is a winner.

    Quoted from Arcade:

Was surprised by everybody that wanted to purchase the Gottleib 2001.
It is a sweet little game and plays perfectly.
I probably most liked KISS and Game of Thrones because they were both so new to me.

Great condition Wedge heads playing perfectly tend to bring out the offers.

Thank you for allowing me to use it in the tournament area!

I just found out that Flip Off Hunger Tournament generated 6,000 meals for hungry families this holiday season!

The food bank had its own matching promotion. So we raised $500 (1,500 meals), and TigerLaw matched it with his own donation of $500 (1,500 meals). And the North Texas Food Bank had a benefactor who matched our $1,000 donation, so that is an additional 3,000 meals.

All together, we will feed 6,000 people from one weekend of having fun! Congratulations to all of my tournament players! You guys are awesome!
