Announced 11/08/14 - 3 pm Gerry from Multimorphic will be speaking on the P3 pinball platform.

Multimorphic- The P3 is a pinball platform. It supports hundreds of completely different game apps, each providing a unique gaming experience and offering something for everybody, kids and adults alike! Many of these games will be written by us. Others can be written by you! When combined with different upper playfield shot layouts, the possibilities are truly endless. Our first suite of games will take you to imaginery worlds you've never seen before and through interactions you never dreamed were possible. Unknown adventures lie ahead! Journey through outer space, encountering new worlds, making new friends, and battling new enemies. Each world presents new challenges, scenery, and interactions, as does the seemingly empty space around it.

#8 9 years ago

Working on that.

1 week later
#14 9 years ago

Sad note. Dirty Donnie will not make it back this year.
Major announcement coming soon.

#17 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

I made it last year and brought a machine. This year it will compete with Alabama coming to Tiger Stadium. Will be a tough call for me and probably many of the Louisiana guys. Depends how the season is going I suppose.

I heard a week later your machine went down early Saturday. Wish I would have known. I was busy keeping other machines running throughout the show. I may have had the part you needed.

What day is the game on?
We'll have a special announcement that will make your decision even harder.

#18 9 years ago
Quoted from hassellcastle:

In! We try to neve miss it. Im sure ill bring a pin, not sure what yet though.Leaning towards Metallica or Iron Man

Many happy people will enjoy playing either one you decide to bring.

#21 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Yea, went down Saturday morning sadly. The football game is Saturday probably prime time. I don't have season tickets this year so I'm just going to games ala cart. I'm more into pinball than football these days but I would love to watch LSU beat bama. I'm on the fence!

Last year, there was a LSU game on the tube just outside of the game area by the bar.
So you can have the best of both worlds. Just FYI.

#23 9 years ago
Quoted from Zitt:

Not sure I can afford another box truck as was done for TPF earlier this year.

Planning on bringing many games? Uhaul has a smaller enclosed trailer that can hold at least 12 folded up DMD games. Though, it doesn't have a ramp.

#25 9 years ago

Does that mean you committed to bring your clear EM pin?

#30 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Hmm, much cheaper than tickets to the Alabama game would be. This really is a tough decision for me; glad I have some time to mull it over.

Your decision will get a bit easier as I post a major announcement later this week.

#33 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

I can keep a secret. PM it to me.

I can't risk it. You'll know soon enough.

#35 9 years ago
Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

Room reserved. $79 is a bargain.

Top that with $25 per person prepaid for 2 full days at the Expo and you have a fun filled weekend.

#37 9 years ago
Quoted from Jodester:

What date will you guys stop selling discount tickets online?

Right now I would say a week before, 10/31, to be safe.

#38 9 years ago

BRING A GAME FOR A PASS ENDS Thursday before the show!!! So hurry and let us know ASAP!!
Each arcade/pinball game you bring you can get a show pass.

#40 9 years ago
Quoted from fish1975tx:

Bringing 5 or 6 machines this year!

Where are you coming from?

#44 9 years ago
Quoted from rccola777:

Brian, what are you bringing?

Erich, is that you?
I'm already on the list. Why aren't you?
Stargate and Al's Garage Band are two I need to take for sure. These will be for sale.
Want to at least bring one more. Just have to see as time gets closer.

#45 9 years ago
Quoted from fish1975tx:

About 15 minutes down the street in Katy. LOL

Sorry, had to ask as I don't see your location...location...location.

#67 9 years ago
Quoted from Quiddity:

Orbitor sold at TPF to a couple in Houston, it was purchased a few months back by a Dallas collector (and it's currently in his home arcade). He went after it at the request of his wife who loves it, so I don't think that it's going anywhere anytime soon.

While that was true, it recently sold to someone in the Dallas area.

#86 9 years ago

http://arcadecenter.com/Exhibitors.asp
News flash.

Dutch Pinball will be at the show with 4 machines and will do a seminar.

Dutch Pinball it all started with two guys from Holland with a passion for pinball: Barry Driessen and Koen Heltzel. For some time we had been thinking about starting some sort of pinball project, but it wasn't until april 2010 that we actually got the ball rolling. We heard about the P-ROC board and visited someone in Holland who had ordered it. Soon enough we decided we were going to order one too and try to develop brand new software for The Machine: Bride of Pinbot, that would feature a dot matrix display (originally it has alpha numeric displays) and was more appealing than the original (which is often considered a one-shot game). First we got our hardware sorted out by putting in a newer transformer, a DMD display and a DMD controller board (for powering the new display). Then we started developing new software and graphics. After that Jules Reivers joined our team to help with a very important - and yet missing - part of the game: music and sound effects!

#93 9 years ago

That sounds like a trivia question right there.

#96 9 years ago

Puff..Puff..pass

#98 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Gosh, I sure hope that game makes an appearance. Is there even another one in playable condition in driving range from Houston or is Marc's old example the only one around?

That is the only one I know of around Texas. I haven't been to Pinballz Arcade to know if there is one there. Anyone know?

So the Dutch Pinball annoucement wasn't big enough to make you want to attend the Expo and watch the game in the bar area?

#102 9 years ago
Quoted from PorkChopExpress:

Is pinsider gandalfnet the DJ?

Yes. Why, do you have a music request?
I think I recall hearing MJ's 'Thriller' last year.

#106 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

maybe a little: new order, depeche mode, monster mash

I wouldn't mind hearing some of that as well.

#107 9 years ago

I'm sure we'll hear Twilight Zone at some point, maybe even both nights.

#109 9 years ago
Quoted from PorkChopExpress:

Why YES, yes I do.
Please let me introduce gandolf to something that is both 80's style & EDM. I think he will love it. I know I do. I'm interested in coming to this event if my work schedule will allow it and would love to hear this while I play pins all night long!

Hmmm....well...I'd imagine I can tune that out.

#111 9 years ago

Grumpy? I'll tune that out as well.
Giddy up on Stargate. I'm glad to have helped you out for a change.

#118 9 years ago
Quoted from PorkChopExpress:

In case its not so obvious, I think Kurt Russell is the coolest. Please bring Stargate to the show. I would love to play it.

Mine is already on the list to bring. It was at the show last year as well.

#124 9 years ago

"Who let the Dawgs out?"

#131 9 years ago
Quoted from BarrySanders:

Be sure to play my Frank Sinatra, or Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr. Heck , any of the Rat Pack playlist will be fine. I'm not picky . I'll be poolside smoking a stogie

Who are those people you speak of?

#135 9 years ago
Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

Looking forward to my first time at this show. How do the free passes for bringing a game work? Pick them up at load-in?

Definately can do that on Friday if the Check In counter is set up. It may not be set up on Thursday. In that case, pick them up when you come and enjoy the show. Your name will be on the list with the amount of games you are bringing.

Don't forget to use this form to sign up your game(s).
http://www.arcadecenter.com/contactus.asp

Show starts at noon on that Friday!!

#136 9 years ago

Wow!! Here is a sneak peak at TBL pin.
http://www.pinballnews.com/games/biglebowski/index.html

Hope there will be some playability to this game at the show.

#138 9 years ago

36 days until Showtime!
http://www.arcadecenter.com/contactus.asp

Don't forget to reserve your hotel room.
http://www.arcadecenter.com/hotel.asp

#144 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

I have a 2-player Karate Champ & also a South Park pin I could bring. 2 questions:
a) anyone interested in buying one in Houston?

Hard to say. You will only see a fraction of people on Pinside.

I think there would be a many of people that would like to see your Defender pin though show up!!!

#145 9 years ago
Quoted from rccola777:

I'm quite ready for this. Can we just extend the show and enjoy the festivities for a whole week? I have some vacation time to burn.

Erich, we can most certainly continue the Expo at your house stating, Nov 9th at 6pm.

#147 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

this one ?

defender-pin-1.jpg 171 KB

YES THAT ONE

#151 9 years ago
Quoted from rccola777:

Done. I just need to go to Lowe's and get a bunch of extension cords. If it rains, that won't hurt a pinball machine, will it?

Not if you beef up your MOSFETs from Big Daddy!
http://bigdaddy-enterprises.com/electronics/e_transistors.htm

#152 9 years ago

Marco Specialties will be at the show with a booth and games!
Marco Specialties, Inc. was founded in 1985 with one mission: provide pinball machine owners one source for Everything Pinball.

Good chance they will bring the Walking Dead pin?

#154 9 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:

Looking forward to the show. Wanted to go last year but couldn't. This year I am making sure I can make it.

Are you able to bring your Getaway?

#159 9 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:

No. That would just be too difficult to deal with and my three kids. Being a single dad makes it hard to do anything - that's why I missed going in years past.

Are they old enough to play some games this year.
Hats off to the single dad.

#162 9 years ago

TigerLaw, decided to watch the game at the Expo?

#164 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

I'm probably going to be a last minute call. I've booked hotel rooms in both Baton Rouge and Houston. I'm likely going to order the $75 tickets from you guys as weekend sponsor whether I go or not though.

TBL pin should be enough to suck you into coming to the Expo.
Guess that is the dedication to that team kickin' in.
I'm glad pinball is my only addiction. So it is an easy choice for me to make.

#166 9 years ago

Erich, I had my two listed for over a month now.
Thinking about adding three more that I will drag behind the car.

#167 9 years ago

Pretty nice. 60 pins on the list as of today.
http://arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

#169 9 years ago

I'll be happy if we have more than 100 pins there this year.

#173 9 years ago

http://www.arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

74 pinball machines listed so far to be there to enjoy.

#176 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

how many pins last year?

110 pins were listed last year. Don't know if anyone walked around to count them.

#178 9 years ago

26 more to make 100 does not seem to be a problem.

Dutch pinball is supposed to bring 4 games.
Marco brought Star Trek pro last year.
Multimorphic has not listed their game but they have a booth. I hope the game will be playable.
Joystix games normally brings 3 or more pins.
I know a guy that is hoping to bring 10 pins (not yet listed).
Elevation Games has been bringing 5+ games in the past. He brought Hercules last year, but it sold at TPF earlier this year.
A couple of individuals still had not yet posted their games.

#184 9 years ago

I will have many parts on hand at the Expo since I will be doing pin repair as issues arise on my machines and anyone else needing help. Can't say I'll have every possible part handy, just common ones. Just ask around for Brian.

#186 9 years ago

JJP will not be appearing. They are sending down giveaways and prizes.

#188 9 years ago

New promotional video for the Houston Arcade Expo has been posted.
Feel free to email it to all your friends who could be interested in attending or even bring a game.

#190 9 years ago

Woohoo!! New news. Dirty Donny will be signing autographs and selling his art work at the show.
http://www.arcadecenter.com/Exhibitors.asp

#192 9 years ago

I see there will be a Tempest and a Zookeeper at the Expo.
http://arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

#194 9 years ago

Woohoo!! 90 pinball machines now listed for the Expo. This does not even include the TBL and whatever games other games Dutch Pinball and Marco will bring.

http://arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

#195 9 years ago

Get your hotel room now. Only 13 days until the Expo starts.

#197 9 years ago
Quoted from hassellcastle:

I heard Marco wasn't coming, has something changed?

I hadn't heard. That is a bummer if they are not.

#201 9 years ago

http://arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

Far left shows the games that are for sale.
I have the Twister and Al's Garage Band.

The Super Mario Bros pin had sold recently, so I know that will not be there.

#203 9 years ago
Quoted from TrevixClemson:

I saw the notes for the ones for sale, but was wondering if any of those peeps were pinsiders. I can't make it there Friday as I have been put in charge of a mess at work, so if there was something I wanted, I wanted to look into it prior to the show...

I hear that. Elevation Games usually brings at least 3 games every year. So far, I hadn't seen them list anything. Occasionally something is for sale not listed on the webpage.

#205 9 years ago

TrevixClemson, is there one listed you were interested in? I probably could put you in touch with the person.

#206 9 years ago

Houston Arcade & Pinball Expo annoucement.

We will also be hosting a Bubble Hockey Tourney!
Rules and shedule are here
http://arcadecenter.com/2014%20IBHF%20Houston%20Arcade%20Expo%20Tournament.pdf

#209 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

I would have some interest in a Transformers Decepticon LE . . . though I'm still on the fence about going to the show or the LSU/Bama game the appearance of one of these would certainly lead me to head out to Houston.

No interest in seeing TBL machine?

#212 9 years ago
Quoted from jazc4:

Looking forward to seeing TBL.

I'm trying to convince Tigerlaw he needs to come view it as well.

#220 9 years ago

I need a white Russian.

#224 9 years ago

In case you miss the announcement, Dutch Pinball will be at the Houston Arcade Expo and will be bringing their first game...The Big Lebowski pin. They will be holding a seminar at 2pm on 11/8.

#226 9 years ago

ColorDMD lineup that will be present at the show.

Addams Family
Fish Tales
Indiana Jones
Medieval Madness
Lord of the Rings

#229 9 years ago
Quoted from Zitt:

I don't think he was saying ColorDMD was going to be there...I read that to mean that ColorDMD was being represented by individual hobbyist's machines.

That is correct.
Collectors will demo the ColorDMD in selected games.
It will be exciting to see LOTR in COLOR!!
Indiana Jones is amazing in color.

#230 9 years ago
Quoted from PavBall:

Will they have the Doctor Who one for sale?

Now when you purchase a ColorDMD from their website, Planetary Pinball, or Bay Area Amusement, it will be set up as a Sigma display. You can choose one of 96 colors. You would then have to update the firmware for the selected game (such as Dr. Who) in order to get full color.

Far as I know, ColorDMD has never sold any displays at any shows. They had some displays picked up at past shows (that were prepaid from their website before the shows).

I hate to say they will not be attending Houston Arcade Expo.

#232 9 years ago
Quoted from TrevixClemson:

Maniac,
I am interested in the BSD and possibly the Monopoly (mostly my wife is interested).

PM sent

#234 9 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Thank you for the response to PavBall Pinballmaniac40, weve decided we are going and will watch LSU beat Bama from the hotel.

That is great. You'll enjoy the company of others watching the same game.
Are you bringing a machine this year?

#236 9 years ago

Jim, Just confirmed. Marco will NOT be at the Expo. They backed out.

#240 9 years ago
Quoted from KingNine:

This completely sucks! Why are they backing out?
Edit: it won't change the quality of the show. I was just planning on purchasing some stuff from them this weekend.

I cannot answer for Marco.

#246 9 years ago
Quoted from creyes82:

More than likely bringing my Killer Instinct arcade machine, debating on bringing a pinball machine.
CFTBL - one will be there
DW - one will be there
Hi-Score Pool - it might not like being moved, finicky EM's
TRON LE - I have to think hard about this one...

Don't let the other CFTBL stop you from bringing yours. You likely could win best modded modern machine. Tons of mods in this one. Bring it on!!

One Dr. Who is enough for the Expo, unless you installed a ColorDMD in yours?

#250 9 years ago

http://arcadecenter.com/showgames.asp

This does not even include the P3 machine and the 4 pinball machines that Dutch Pinball is supposed to bring. Here comes the Big Lebowski pin!!!!

#265 9 years ago

Sad news for the expo.
Here is an email from the Expo organizer about Dutch pinball.

hey guys,

I just got a call from Barry at Dutch pinball, due to unseen circumstances they cannot make it to the show this year....
This is a huge disappoint for me and I know too a lot of you guys.
They promise they will be back to Houston Next year.

Dutch pinball will be sending a shipment of giveaways before the weekend to give out at the show!
Sorry for the bad news, but we plan on having a SUPER time anyway!

Thanks again for your support!
Cheers!
Keith

#266 9 years ago

Dirty Donnie originally was not coming out, but now he is.

#272 9 years ago

A demo of the LOTR new color ROM will be on display at the Expo.
In case you hadn't seen a preview yet, here it is.

#273 9 years ago

Likely anyone could find me buried in any given pinball repair this weekend.
Just ask for Brian, especially if you are looking for a part to repair something.

#275 9 years ago
Quoted from jazc4:

Still going to have a great time, but really bummed not getting to see TBL in person before commiting.

Yeah, I'm bummed about it too. Multimorhic should have the Lexi light speed theme machine there. Looking forward to seeing the progress on that game.

#276 9 years ago

13 hours until load-in starts!!

#278 9 years ago

12 hours until load-in starts. Are you ready, Erich????

#284 9 years ago
Quoted from rccola777:

As ready as I'll ever be. Since we aren't getting the southside truck, Brolyn and I are sharing his trailer which means I'm only bringing about 6 or 7 games. I just finished Bride of Pinbot so it will be there. I'll fit however many I can in the trailer. We should be there by 1:00.

What the ??? Oh man. That truck pickup would have rocked for you'll down south.

#285 9 years ago
Quoted from GSones:

I'm going to try and get my game there tomorrow around 7 or 8. Hope to see some of you guys then. Can't wait!

Hey G, I probably will be poking around in a machine still at that time.

#287 9 years ago

5 hours until load-in.

#289 9 years ago

2.5 hours until load-in starts.
Giddy up!!
Hey Rocky, It's showtime!!

#292 9 years ago
Quoted from creyes82:

You better start loading that big bad truck of yours Brian.

My bus will be here soon to load up.
Don't drop that Tron, Chris.

#293 9 years ago

meSz, I just may know someone that has a similar machine.
I'll check with him to see if he has any parts.

#294 9 years ago

An hour away from start of the load-in.
Can't wait to set up and test play some games.

#301 9 years ago

Half the machines are loaded in. Biggest Houston Arcade Expo yet with 245 slated to be there.

#308 9 years ago

196 actual pinball and arcade games.

Quoted from hassellcastle:

Im looking forward to it to. But i gotta ask are you counting consoles in that game count?

196 actual pinball and arcade games listed. Still a good number, right?

#317 9 years ago

Day 1 came to an end. It was a fantastic Friday for pinball.
LOTR ColorDMD looks amazing in full color.

Now the swap meet starts at 8am and goes until noon.

This is going to be another fantastic long day of pinball and arcade fun.

#324 9 years ago

Thank you, come again!!

#329 9 years ago
Quoted from BD_Designs:

Yeah the Taxi that was next to the LED'd WH20 was also a real beauty! It was definitely the cleanest and smoothest playing Taxi I've ever seen. A lot of love and TLC was put into restoring that machine. Looked fantastic!
I also really enjoyed playing Twister for the first time. I found it to be one of the most fun Sega machines I've played and I actually think the artwork is quite nice! Right up there with Apollo 13.
The variety of games at the show was excellent and it was nice seeing the modded/upgraded versions in person. While I still think there are a few games that I prefer with their original lighting, the majority of the games that had LED upgrades were vastly improved upon, WH20 being one of the best examples, imo. It was like a completely different game and really breathed new life into it!
Also, major kudos to the team of folks that were making on-the-spot repairs/adjustments to games throughout the day. Their efforts were much appreciated and didn't go unnoticed!

Awww...Glad to hear you enjoyed Twister. It held up quite well.
I did what I could to keep many machines up and working. I can't believe how many people enjoyed playing Mousin' Around. I saw more adults playing it than kids.
Sad to say that LOTR went down early Saturday evening due to an issue that took out a solenoid fuse. At least many people enjoyed seeing the newest ColorDMD release coming out later this week.

#346 9 years ago

Thanks to Captive_Ball and fish1975tx, who helped get my five games to the show.
Many more thanks to fish1975tx for helping me keep many of the machines (not just ours) working through the weekend.

#365 9 years ago
Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

Yup. I noticed it on the IJ too. BTW, those three WMS dotmation slots I roped myself into at the swapmeet? One of them is already up and playing...

IMG_2143.JPG 195 KB

Wow. Very Nice. What did you do to get it working?

#368 9 years ago

Finally, after a week, I got 2 of my 5 machines setup after this fun weekend.
Looking forward to TPF in March.
