Currently have 1.6. Read through the READ ME for later versions, and unless I missed something, the benefit of later versions is mainly if you have LEDs.
If that is true, any reason to upgrade if no LEDs?

If you have the old one the video compressed images are (reportedly) more clear, and the Do or Die hurry up is 50 mil (I am running this version and have not upgraded).
Benefits of the newer one are apparently the revised DoD score (if you like a lower number) and some additional "instant info" that is actually helpful.
The video issue is associated with the plasma (2010) and LED (VE) displays. Upgrading will not change anything with the display.
Some of the lighting is changed with the newer ROM. There's a couple other very small changes, but it's essentially the same.
v1.6 and the newer both have 35 million DoD.
