I'll give it a 4...
Ripley is a title that holds up pretty well, so I look at it as nearly as valuable as a new, lightly used Stern pro. Why not? Quality was also definitely better back then.
Quoted from locksmith:What would a Mint true 200 play game bring.
With a recent increase in scams, how credible is the seller?
No way to tell if it had 400 plays so that doesn't matter.
It would get a little more than a standard one and have to have a completely flawless scoop witout one c-hair out of place.
Which of course you would have to cover with a cliffy immediately.
I bought one for $3900 that barely had dimples on the playfield. Game was basically brand new. Sold for $4k a few months ago to my boss.
So many say low prices but they never show up for those prices. Great game that was only appreciated later in its life, not too many out there. This means...
4k+ realistically if nice. Imho.
Quoted from altan:So many say low prices but they never show up for those prices.
I mean... I know you have it listed in your collection and all... but at least take 3 minutes to even go look in the pinside market archives...
Nice examples go for 3500 and under all the time.
Quoted from Atari_Daze:With a recent increase in scams, how credible is the seller?
Credible and friendly, locksmith let me put some games on a few of his machines the other night and picking up one of his games on Saturday.
Quoted from Whysnow:Nice examples go for 3500 and under all the time.
One came up on Mr Pinball for 2600 the other day. Taken down, and now it's back up there for $3800.
There are also examples in the archives for 4k-5k
Just sold mine recently for $4300 I bought it with a true 80 plays and probably had a few hundred total after that it was it "fresh out of box condition" not a scratch anywhere the only things I added were LEDOCD and leds.
Quoted from Whysnow:I mean... I know you have it listed in your collection and all...
To imply that someone that owns a title cannot share their pricing opinion makes absolutely no more sense than someone stating people that don't own a title cannot share their pricing opinion
Some specific facts:
Boston Pinball says the average price in 2017 was $4000.
Pinside sales (from 2017+) with a recorded sale price for an example that’s very nice (per OP’s question):
1) 2017-01-02 — major flipper button wear, excluded
2) 2017-02-02 — scrapes on cabinet, gross flipper button protectors. excluded
3) 2017-02-19 — looks nice, sold for $3800
4) 2017-03-17 — nice. sold for $5000
5) 2017-04-10 — seems nice. sold for $3500
6) 2017-05-18 — majro flipper button wear, appears to have cabinet dings. Stopped looking after this. excluded.
7) 2017-08-13 — cabinet dings, flipper button wear. excluded
8) 2017-08-12 — looks nice, $3500
9) 2017-09-13 — looks nice, $4000
10) 2017-09-25 — looks nice, $3750
11) 2017-11-06 — nice. $3500
12) 2018-01-09 — nice. $4300
13) 2018-02-19 — wear on kickoff, cabinet scratch, flipper button wear. excluded
So in 14 months there have been, to the best of my ability, 8 “very nice” RBIONs sold.
The min price was $3500
The max price was $5000
The average price was $3919
The $1500 spread probably shows there is a great amount of regional dependent demand.

Quoted from 27dnast:I see a lot of "looks nice" in there which doesn't necessarily mean "very nice" or minty HUO.
I'll need a separate ruling on the average "nice" vs. "very nice." Divide that by "minty" and you get the answer "made up terms don't mean shit."

I was not implying that owning the game negates your ability to share an opinion on price. I was pointing out your obvious bias of owning when you claim they never show up for these "lower" prices (in the context of this thread i interpret that to mean they never show up for 3500ish). As you can clearly see, you further your owner bias status by opting to quote EBAY prices (that is what boston pin tracks). You also quote pinside asking prices as verified sale prices while excluding games that fall below your decided minimum.
Reality is that nice examples of RBION are easily and regularly found for 3500 and under for anyone with just a sliver of patience. Heck, just look how many even sold here in the past year as evidence for how commonly they are for sale, even "seems nice" examples
Anyone paying more is either impatient or just uninformed/buying into hype.
From my POV:
1) I posted from my perspective that "4k+ realistically if nice. Imho." That's quote. I even ended with IMHO. I didn't say the information was incontrovertible.
2) I then gather actual data, post it, and it shows the average price was a bit below my IMHO above.
3) Then you continue pushing that I'm biased because I own it?
Quoted from Whysnow:Reality is that nice examples of RBION are easily and regularly found for 3500 and under for anyone with just a sliver of patience.
Pinside data shows only 8 sales of "nice" RBION (w/price recorded) over 14 months and, of those, none were less than $3500. Only 3 were exactly $3500. I don't think 3 examples over 14 months qualifies as "easily and regularly found". Just my opinion.
The good news is that I'm hopeful the OP is getting the desired data from this thread.

I emailed him about that. Said mr pinball screwed up and he intended to list it for 3800. Who knows if it's true
Quoted from altan:The good news is that I'm hopeful the OP is getting the desired data from this thread.
I would assume he is
3000 if you are buying and looking for a deal
3500 is a fair price
if you are selling or own one then 4000 plus is value
Thank you for all the input .Just wanted some real time, real price info on the game . I'll post some pics this weekend.
I turned down a $4500 offer for mine, so there's some more info to add to this thread, although the info is rather useless, lol.
Terry.
Sold mine in January for AUD$7500, yes it looked almost new ( but I thrashed it as it is a pearler of a game ) colour DMD and just beautiful.
I will buy another if $ permits. Bloody medical stuff costs heaps
Quoted from akm:I've had multiple RBION machines and they were always a tough sell in the DC/MD/VA area. My last one was nice and I had to settle for something like $3000. So I'd say $3500 for a mint one is about right, at least in my area.
$3,500 for a mint one in the DC metro?
Survey says: X
Quoted from PaulCoff:All depends on the wear around the magnet (mushroom or chips), scoop, and shooter lane. That usually is the main indicator on plays with RBION.
I never trust anything regarding play count. Let the playfield/boards/cabinet do the talking.
2700-3500.
Love the metal ramps on RBION.
Metal ramps? Say what
Quoted from ttown:Up here in the NW it would go for more then $4K easy. Regular RBION's are going for that up here.
I don't doubt this, I bought one just because it was part of a better package deal. It was folded up in my garage, and I told potential buyer that it was playing okay, needed cleaning, needed a cliffy for the pretty well worn scoop, and had a flaky switch. He took it for $3000, didn't even need to see it set up.
One popped up about 5 miles from my house on CL about 12 months ago for $2500. I was about 30 seconds late and 2nd in line. Good news is that a local collector guy / league player nabbed it and not a flipper. They typically go for around $3300 in this area.
