SHOW THE PLAYFIELD YOU TEASE!

Post edited by Aurich: lol you posted pics as I was ranting!

Edit: Wow, not too shabby. Yellowed, but wear doesn't look bad.

Refresh buddy!

I think the yellow is mostly the lighting.

The coin door, side rails, apron, and plastics are damn near perfect.

The lower cabinet and backglass are pretty damn clean with only minor blemishes

The upper cabinet and playfield are average.

Very decent player's condition. A new playfield would do wonders.

Crazy good score.

Know anyone with a new playfield?

#56 4 years ago

Actually, that playfield is much better than "average" for a Centaur. Does it have the factory mylar? They usually are not that clean around the lady's face without mylar.

Based on the playfield, I think the Centaur might edge out the Slot for highest value.

Any yet, you still won't tell us what you paid????

#57 4 years ago

Shabby! I don't think that word means what you think that word means

Unless you offered $2000 above their 200 asking price that thing is a SCORE!

Enquiring minds want to know!

Way understatement bud, you made out like a bandit.
WOW.
'Grats again, this time with some jealousy thrown in.

Nice score!! I love hearing stories like this

#61 4 years ago

I don't think NorCal is going to tell us what he paid, which is totally his perogative.

Agreed that it's totally his call, but it never hurts to ask (demanding would be another thing entirely) ...

Oh agreed, I already asked once myself!

I'll share. Paid $700. And if anybody thinks I "took" the guy, they can suck it. I had to make a snap offer sight unseen based on the following info:

"It's in the back of Grandma's storage locker"

"It hasn't worked in 15 years"

"We lost the keys"

"Nowhere to plug it in"

I took a half day, rented a trailer, drove up to wine country, and was delighted to see that it didn't look like this:

Congratulations, you clearly got an excellent deal but you also gave the guy $500 more than he was asking, so anyone that would fault you is nuts!

#67 4 years ago

Nice score!

#68 4 years ago

Rented a trailer? You need to rethink your primary vehicle! On a recent trip when I rented a car they upgraded me to a 2015 mustang, first thing I thought when I saw it was, this cars ridiculous, you can't fit a pin in it!

You got a great deal, and I don't think you took the guy. $700 for that little amount of info is more that fair.

#69 4 years ago

sounds like a fair price all things considered.

Congrats!

Also, the real score was the slot you can sell and end up probably buying a repro pf and still having a free centaur (one of the best game ever!)

I have the same car criteria. I own a Yukon which is an excellent pin hauler, but that's assuming I can fold the head down. Can't fold the head down with no keys.

#71 4 years ago

Still a fantastic deal, and it was a standup offer not knowing what you were getting into board wise and under the playfield.

#72 4 years ago
Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

Can't fold the head down with no keys.

Put a large, slot head, square shaft, screwdriver into the head keyhole.

Use an adjustable wrench to turn the shaft.

About 1/8" turn and the head will open.

Turn it 1/8" back, and you can lock it again for transport.

Bring one to every non-pinhead pin purchase, because the backbox key is always missing.

When I bought my Bad Cats, the back box and coin door keys were missing. So we just drilled the lock out.

If working slot machine is worth at minimum $700. Nice score!!! Very generous offer from you given the circumstances.

Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

Usually it is way easier not to drill the backbox, because you can just lock it up again with the screwdriver for transport

Coin door, drill it.

#79 4 years ago

Amazing deal even with how much you paid him. Does the slot work it will pay for your purchase if it does...

Congrats on the pickup.

Nice score, looks like a really nice game.

Damn! Thought it was just a tiny can!

I thought it was a novelty can as well. That guy had some huge ass hands.

#82 4 years ago
Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

I don't know much about slots. I sent photos to a local retailer and he said based on condition it's a $1200-$1500 item. He offered to consign it. I know if I keep it I'll want to learn more about it, fix it up, and next thing you know I'll have a bunch of slots all over the house.
