    I stumbled across these two patents which describe a remarkable two player pitch and bat game. The 1st patent was filed in 1925 and features pop up, chain driven base runners and automatic scoring. The 2nd patent filed in 1930 makes many improvements to the game. Did a version of this game ever make it to production?

    Wow, that looks extremely intricate and well engineered for coin-op at the time

    Among the amazing things the later patent describes is the way the base runners are lifted through tubes (like elevator shafts) that are taken around the bases on a chain:

    And the way it counts runs and hits (for each of five innings!) and outs with electrical score reels to look like a real baseball score board:
