So folks I was wondering what everyone thought about putting a 2 part epoxy that is used on countertops on a playfield instead of automotive clear. This stuff is tuff and non toxic and can be done indoors and cures rock hard in a few days. It can be drilled easily as well. Thoughts??? Do you think it would be durable for pinball playfields????

I think it would be to thick and get into places you wouldn't want it.

I have also thought 2 part epoxy would work well- I am to chicken to try it. It can be put on fairly thin, no thicker than I have seen automotive clears on playfields.
The old 2 part epoxies use to yellow badly, but they have came a long way and not a issue.

Spray max 2k (an automotive clear) calls itself a 2 part epoxy so this doesn’t sound that crazy. Biggest question I have is how would you apply it? Aerosol is the easiest way to get an even mirror finish. Not sure you could do as well brushing it on?

The guys on youtube just pour it across the tabletop. You would have to do some prep to keep it where you want it and where you don't want it.
If anyone was serious about doing it, I would say try it on a cheap wall hanger type playfield that's only worth a hundred bucks. Just incase it doesn't work out as planned.

I think with an existing playfield you would have to fill or frame every place it could pour off. As part of manufacturing a new one you could pour first then cut and drill. Does Stern or JJP have RD or they not big enough?

Ok fiberdude that sounds good. I'm not ready yet but I'd definitely consider it.

I've done small projects with this stuff from pro marine epoxy. You can pour a thin layer and brush it out and it self levels with a heat gun. Cool stuff just not sure how it will do on a playfield durability wise.
