I gutted my SF2 one and installed a Pandora’s box for more games. I find pac-man plays well, but I’m far from a pro and wouldn’t know if it plays like an original. Mortal Kombat was to hard for me, I used the service menu backdoor and changed the difficulty and enjoy it now. Golden tee was played all the time when people were over. We’d have a 4 player pinball and 4 player golden tee running simultaneously. The track ball is very good.

Their light gun technology looks very promising, it doesn’t use a light bar, there’s tech in the gun that always sees the edge of the screen. I plan on getting big buck hunter.

Early reviews of nba jam are mixed. It has a new online gameplay option. So you could play friends from home. But the player roster is only around 70-80% of the original. Although it is online and might be updated.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

Also the joysticks now are much higher quality than the older games

Yes there is a noticeable improvement from SF2 to MK

These are cheap and light. Don’t expect a commercial grade machine. They’re easy to pick up and move around, store in the garage And rotate the lineup. The small footprint means you can put them just about anywhere. When you get bored of it in the game room, just take it off the riser and put it in the bathroom. Lol.

I’m sure that arcade1up will release multiple versions of mrs pac man over the years with different game packs. Even burger time was originally a run of karate champ cabinets, but fan support had them rerelease them as burger time. A smart move, cause that cabinet looks sweet.

I was shocked that they were even able to make the mrs pac man, but there is a loophole in the licensing. It covered coin-ops and digital downloads. Since this is a all in one box they got away with it.

I just went to their web site, it’s quite the impressive lineup of games they have available. I honestly think these are just a fad and we’ll only get new ones for a couple more years. Arcade1up is very receptive to social media, even doing live YouTube streams answering submitted questions. So I think they are working to get all of the games we love for the past. 87E565D5-7D87-457D-8AA8-7EF9D3B8680A (resized).png87E565D5-7D87-457D-8AA8-7EF9D3B8680A (resized).png2A620878-8CFF-423E-9944-2715D3FE7148 (resized).png2A620878-8CFF-423E-9944-2715D3FE7148 (resized).png0A8868F6-8F7D-4789-A3EE-412CF288327F (resized).png0A8868F6-8F7D-4789-A3EE-412CF288327F (resized).png

This will probably be one of the last announcements for this year, or early next year. Arcade1up has done a great job listening to customers, and this one has been asked for before in live streams with them. They know it will sell well, so it will be released. With trade shows being cancelled this year, I think it messed up their schedule to announce things.

Arcade1up has always made cabinets with unique controls, as they make more games I’d assume games like 720 will come too.

#116 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Rumor has it they are looking into making full size cabs..

The last customer survey they sent out, they straight up asked if customers were interested in full size cabinets.

Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:

This multicade has 18 Golden Tee courses on it, and after we discovered that after watching a friend play, that was all we played anymore.
Now all my girlfriend wants to play is the real Golden Tee, while I am always ready to get back to the multicade.
I highly recommend these 2 games, cost is about the same as one LE pin, but you will have so much more variety.
BUT, do like I did, and get the multicade first, and if you do not end up playing Golden Tee on it all the time like we did you will be all set for less than half the price of a pro pin.

I also have a “all in one” multicade. Spinner, trackball, 2 guns. It has it all; and that the problem. Game overload. It can take longer to find a game to play then, you spend on that game. Also with only one cabinet there was a fight to play the game you wanted at parties. So I now have the golden tee arcade1up, since that game is always in use. I like my all in one but I prefer a couple small cabinets over just one big one .

Quoted from arcademojo:

It’s alive!! I used to hate these flat screen LCD monitors but now I like them just as much as my CRT.
[quoted image][quoted image]

How many buttons would I need to add to a Pac-Man cab to make one of those 60 in 1 boards play nicely? Or would it be better to get a 12 in 1 board? I want to keep the cabinet lookin as close to original as possible. Or the other option would be a different arcade1up to mod.

#206 3 years ago

Just size this pic and stick it on the game. You’ll never forget the moves again

Quoted from Psw757:

Any new info on the new big buck hunter coming out? Screen size going to be any bigger.

Thought I heard October for bbh. I doubt the screen is bigger, but the light gun tech is supposed to be pretty awesome.

#255 3 years ago
Quoted from Psw757:

What size screens did the original games have? Can’t imagine it being smaller than that.

Arcade1up are usually ~19". I think the original bbh had a 25" screen. If Arcade1up keeps the 4:3 aspect ratio, i don't think there's a lot of cheap options over 20"

Quoted from rockrand:

Is the ultimate arcade from atgames been released yet,I don’t have any video game nothing I thought the would be fun,yes no?

Just watched a video that there's a UA version 2.0 that is shipping now. I dont know what the improvements are, but these were reviewed well.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

That's the rumor and they actually had one set out at a show and then they put it away because they said it wasnt supposed to be shown. I think they just did it as a teaser. I would bet money that it's in the works.

There was an interview I watched that said arcade1up found an old version of silver strike bowling that would run on current Arcade1up Hardware. So they are trying to get it made.

I hope to find a Big Buck Hunter for Christmas. These things are addictive, I also might get a stand up version of outrun.

Quoted from PinKopf:

I'm tempted by BBH but what I really want is a Virtua Cop and/or House of the Dead gun cab. Sign me up for either/both of those. Then I'll mod em to play basically every gun game ever made - hurry up and release these things dammit!

This won’t work. I watched a video yesterday, a BBH sinden gun won’t work with a pc, and the sinden pc light gun won’t work with the A1U BBH machine. You could use the cabinet and screen but all of the electronics would need to be replaced. Might as well just build from scratch at that point because the screen size is the biggest complaint with the BBH cabinet.

#344 3 years ago
Quoted from Soulstoner:

If only those buck hunter games were available for MAME or something. But as far as I know, this cabinet is the only way to play them outside of buying a full machine?

I think the mame crowd doesn’t publicly release the rom until a certain number of years after you can no longer purchase the game legally. I wouldn’t doubt that it’s possible with an Ultimarc Aimtrack light gun or the new sinden gun, you’d just need to find a rom.

Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

For those of you with factory 1ups, if you power on the machine will it eventually go to a game or stay on a menu screen. Trying to figure out how these would work on a remote power strip. I'd want t turn these on with my pins.

They don’t go to a game as far as I know, they will sit on the menu screen for 10-20 min. Maybe longer.

Not in Canada. Fuck. Thats one that I want. Cheap Arcade1up’s are not a thing up here; even on the second hand market.

I’ve finally got a tracking number for the replacement big buck hunter. It should be here on Monday, almost a month since I bought it. Hopefully this one doesn’t also get destroyed before I see it.

I just got BBH on Monday. Now I have SF2, MK2, PacMan, GTee, AFM pin, and BBH. I think next I might get an outrun sit down, there’s one used local to me at a good price.

I really like that Arcade1up tries to make games with unique controls. So, I’m hoping that they make an SNK cabinet with the LS-30 joysticks. I’m really wanting a S.A.R game, but to fill it out they could add Ikari and guerrilla. 45383FD7-A59F-4452-80FE-BC8AB33EBE71 (resized).png45383FD7-A59F-4452-80FE-BC8AB33EBE71 (resized).png6936E1AE-929A-4272-9131-2D87A645C9D6 (resized).jpeg6936E1AE-929A-4272-9131-2D87A645C9D6 (resized).jpeg7C2E6F90-8DB5-4713-95A6-4E36D5723EC7 (resized).png7C2E6F90-8DB5-4713-95A6-4E36D5723EC7 (resized).png

Quoted from Lethal_Inc:

Add Heavy Barrel to that set too and that would be an awesome cabinet!

Heavy barrel is data east I think. The licensing might be tough to get in the same cabinet, but once you have the controls it should be easy to mod.

I love my golden tee, but I think I might sell it for a golden tee 3D. I think that shuffleshot is a great game, and the wife might actually play it, because I know that she likes it too.

#1002 1 year ago

The very first run of games had issues with the control panel graphics rubbing off quickly. Arcade1up immediately offered a free clear plastic protector that screwed onto the controls and new graphics to make it look right. Since then they have all came with protection. To protect my early games, (Pac-Man and SFII) I just sprayed them with a clear coat and that seems to work well. 1114B0F5-5394-4A86-BB38-C90158025EC9 (resized).jpeg1114B0F5-5394-4A86-BB38-C90158025EC9 (resized).jpegFE2D1D64-1C35-49E7-8378-D0B156571BAE (resized).jpegFE2D1D64-1C35-49E7-8378-D0B156571BAE (resized).jpeg58147C48-86B5-48F4-85A6-6647939563DE (resized).jpeg58147C48-86B5-48F4-85A6-6647939563DE (resized).jpeg

To be fair, at that price you’re almost getting a normal arcade. It’s full size, has suzo-happ joysticks, chrome T moulding…..and….fake a coin door for the player start buttons. I bet that the whole run of 500 sells out

Any thoughts on the slot machines? If they’re online will it use real money?

That’s lots of good videos on YouTube, it really depends what been done already. Is your monitor stock? I like retro Ralph, kong r us, cooltoy and eta prime. but I’m sure there’s others that might be better. You can mod it with a raspberry pi, or Pandora’s box, or go all the way with a PC. It really depends what you want in the end.

#1134 1 year ago
Quoted from TroyS:

Hard to believe these are real. Imagine if they were online and could actually gamble, OMG (not in a good way)

Yeah I agree, but is it a big stretch from a slot app on an iPad, or online poker on a pc?

My mame cabinet has a couple thousand games….. half the battle is finding a game to play, endless scrolling through stuff I don’t care about. And then the controls are off. I’ve never played mortal kombat on my mame because the 6 button controls just feel wrong for MK. But with 1ups I have my own little arcade. Sometimes I just turn them all on a leave them in attract mode. It brings me back to the 90’s wasting time in the arcade when I didn’t have a quarter to my name.

the kind of the thing you'll have to give away for free in the future if you want to get rid of it

Not true for now in my area. There’s a fairly good secondary market for these locally. Even used they are worth a couple hundred bucks

Quoted from Parkshow30:

How is the flipper lag on the attack from mars pinball? I haven’t followed those for a bit but I know when they first came out it wasn’t great. Also, can you put the other games from their app on it? Would love to put Indiana Jones on it.

It’s not real pinball, and it’s not great virtual pinball, it’s a cheap toy and the experience is about that good. I’ve updated the software and that helped, but I haven’t downloaded any additional games onto it. If you can have a fun time playing the pinball arcade on an iPad, then you’ll easily have fun on an Arcade1up. I’ve moved the solenoids for force feedback to just under the lockdown bar so you can kinda feel it. I’m pretty sure there’s a couple useful links and a video on how to add games in this thread https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/arcade1up-pinball-star-wars-virtual-pinball-machine-/page/24#post-7287431
