What monitor is that? Does it work with the original hardware?

#383 3 years ago
Quoted from arcademojo:

He's using a Dell 20" 4:3 monitor. Yes it works with original hardware but you need a Geekworm HDMI adapter.

Thanks. I have a few cabs maybe I’ll look into upgrading the monitors on some of them.

I have 9 1ups currently. Are they as good as full size authentic cabs? No. But I really enjoy fighting games and dont have anyone to play with at home. So now I can play online. Actually a decent size little community forming around the online fighting cabs. They’re even hosting tournaments on Friday nights. People are really getting into it and they’re streamed and money is given out to the winners. Even John D the spokesperson for the company joins in.

Been eyeballing the NBA Jams for awhile now. When is the best sale of year on these? Before Christmas?

Walmart was clearing them out in select stores a month or 2 ago. Seemed to be hit or miss on where though.

Picked up NBA Jam with lighted deck cover and stool for 450. It has been fun.

Nice i just bought the $400 walmart version last year. People were finding them for around $200 but it varied by store location.

Looks like maybe we’ll start seeing larger cabs with a slightly larger monitor, 19” vs 17”. Still crappy knock off controls but for me personally I would almost prefer that rather then pay a markup for better controls that I can install myself.

The simpsons one was definitely the cheap version walmart sells without all of the accessories like the stool. Im good with just the riser and light up marquee usually.

Interested to see what time crisis looks like.

Ive been playing my 1ups a lot online with the marvel vs cabs and street fighter. Interested in getting the new street fighter to be able to play with 2 people locally, fun to do with the vs cabs and kids like to play that way. Also will probably get MvC2 and the MK 30th since it has online.

Time Crisis may be pricey though.

Quoted from VALIS666:

It should also be noted some models don't have a plastic cover on the control panel, and the artwork was prone to fading and rubbing off. The artwork on some of those would likely be gone in a month under sweaty/grubby kid hands. But I think most of the releases from the past year or two do have covers.

That was pretty early on when they first came out. The newer machines have fixed those issues.

You playing online?

Quoted from RikeIsland:

Not yet but probably will be soon.

Nice. Its not a large community but a few active people play the various SF2 games. Nice that its cross play with the big blue cab. I’m Raziell on there. Not very good but feel free to hop on and play.

I will say some of those guys are really good. There is an active discord too. Let me know if you want the link.

Quoted from Moomert1:

How's the online play? Leggy? Good enough? I'm waiting for my Yoga Flame edition to arrive.

Its peer to peer with rollback. Can have great games and some bad ones at times. There is a little input lag but still playable. There is a fix for the big blue cab and the older marvel vs games. I haven’t tried it out yet though.

The Yoga Flame is nice. I've pretty much been playing each night. I just wish more people were playing on line. That was one of the main reasons I got it. A quick way to play against others in Super Turbo.

ST is not a super popular game on there but has its fans. Join the Discord for games.

A lot of the regulars are on there and people will play if you ask.

That’s the MK30th cab. Essentially the MK legacy with online and mk3 included.

Quoted from Moomert1:

I pretty much do that with people I know (long time friends). We play at certain times and try to use certain lobbies so random strangers dont "barge in."

Yeah the SF lobbies can be rough. Prepare to lose a lot. Most of the people are cool though. A lot of people from fightcade are starting to play on the 1up lobbies so its only getting rougher. I haven’t played much the last few months but used to play a lot. If your interested PM me and ill send you a link to the discord. A lot of the regulars on there. People are cool and approachable. Most of use are adults that were kids/teenagers when these were popular in the arcades. We sit around and play SF sipping on some beers.

I’m Raziell on there. Feel free to join me or let me know if you want to play. I’m not that good.
