Buy one you are interested in. You and your family will enjoy it! I own several and modded two of them.

If you really want to know more, visit the reddit site.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Arcade1Up/

You are going to find 50% of the people will say no and the other 50% yes.

They are not collectibles. They will go nicely in any arcade room setup.

The average person could care less if they are a real size or not.

I didn’t know there were that many people here on pinside with them.

I own 7 of them. All first and second gen. Modded two of them with 60-1 and 19-1 conversions. Bought most of them on sale back when they were making way more than they were selling, so many went on sale.

Converted the Asteroids into a Williams Multicade complete with new side art. Added light up marquees to them.

Arcade 1Up has come a long way from the first gen and learned a lot. They keep having more and more surveys asking lots of questions. Looks like they are making a serious attempt to sell models that people desire and fix the issues they had in the beginning.

From the questions they are asking on their surveys, it looks like they may start making sizes that are larger than the current size.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

I think them being smaller is kind of cool, especially for people like yourself that want multiple games. Seven real arcade games like you have would take up an enormous amount of space. Do you know what state this company is located in?

If my memory serves me correctly, Arcade 1Up is owned by Tastemakers LLC. Tastemakers was out of NY and they have made a lot of toys in the past.

The community on the reddit site is a great starting place if you are interested in them.

Like others have mentioned, ETAPrime has great videos and info on modding.

There are a whole bunch of sites dedicated to them for parts, art, modding, etc.

A1U’s are approximately 60 lbs. they are easy to pickup and move by yourself.

Completing a jamma setup in one is simple also. Anyone that can follow schematics can do it.

Quoted from arcademojo:

Just drop a 60 in 1 in it. Has Burgertime on it.

Exactly what I did. Converted a PAC Man to a 60-1 and an Asteroids to a 19-1 jamma. Very simple to do. No programming required. If your desire is for Burgertime art, you can just change the artwork on the cabinet as I did on my Asteroids cabinet. You could even buy the Burgertime and convert it to a 60-1 and then have PAC Man, Donkey Kong etc.

Bought my jamma kits from a guy in Texas. He can sell you everything you need for your conversions for a fair price and very helpful.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

The controls they are using today are supposedly better controls and people seem to be very happy with the gameplay from what I can tell.
As far as the controls go though on the older cabinets couldn't a person buy new joysticks and put them in if they wanted to?

Yes, you can change all of the buttons and joysticks. Replacements cost little to nothing for good controls.
