I’ll probably pass on T2. About to pull the trigger on Dragons Lair - big nostalgia for me on that one.

#1202 1 year ago
Quoted from Eskaybee:

Any thoughts on T2? It’s on sale for $299.99. If not T2, what’s best multiplayer shooter?

I've had both Arcade1up shooters.

Bought T2 two weeks ago on sale. It's fun! But it's half decoration for me. I do play it but you will not be able to have kids play it unsupervised for long. You have to stay back from the screen (easy enough), but there are several quarter grabbing levels throughout the game that require precision. Namely, escort missions. My 6 year old and 9 year old need help beating the helicopter stages, and the game just repeats those until they are passed. If I'm not around they get frustrated and leave.

The Big Buck Hunter game is fun. My kids liked it when I had it (I trade/sell these like pinball). Lots of replayability. The screen is really to small, but it is not going to bother your kids, and if you love it you can go overboard modding it. So long as you can keep the kids from dropping the guns they are great.

Edit to add: If you are buying something for the kids, my kids play the 60 in 1 from arcademojo the most, but visitors gravitate toward my Outrun. Outrun is my personal favorite.

I think DL is the best game they've done yet. They pretty much nailed every aspect of it. Even the packaging is insane.. it's like opening a new iPhone. Over and above it is...

Why are people buying the Arcade1Up stuff with their locked in short list of games per model? Why not get the Atgames legends ultimate which allows you to port your own games into it? Maybe better yet, get their Vpin model and the add-on arcade controls and have an inexpensive readymade pin/arcade mame you can port as many virtual pinball and arcade games to as you like?

I think currently, A1U is making some really nice looking cabs, and I don't care for the look of the Atgames stuff. And the Vpin is a non-starter for me.

I prefer Buck Hunter but it's ok for $300.

Kids like it a lot at a friend's house I've noticed.

I definitely wouldn't have paid full price..

I only have the 1ups that have unique features, like shot guns for BBH, Uzis for T2, and racing wheel for RR.

I've had an Atgames and it crapped out on me in under a month (results may or may not be typical). VPINs are mostly crap, with a very few exceptions. It's real pinball or bust for me.

As to why the 1ups? I've had a full MAME setup and a few retropi builds but I actually play the 1ups more. They all have the right controls. They all look cool. It is a ready made awesome little (relatively) cheap arcade decoration. One of my 1ups is a 60 in 1 but they are otherwise stock. My kids can use these without needing help, and I have been enjoying mine. I have also found that these are relatively easy to sell or trade on Facebook, and you can usually get about $100 less than what you paid. Done with your fun? Sell it and get a new one.

The only one thats pure crap is the Tempest 12 in 1 (controls break). I'm also not a fan of the screen on my GoldenTee XL, but have been thrilled with everything else from them.

#1209 1 year ago

My mame cabinet has a couple thousand games….. half the battle is finding a game to play, endless scrolling through stuff I don’t care about. And then the controls are off. I’ve never played mortal kombat on my mame because the 6 button controls just feel wrong for MK. But with 1ups I have my own little arcade. Sometimes I just turn them all on a leave them in attract mode. It brings me back to the 90’s wasting time in the arcade when I didn’t have a quarter to my name.

#1210 1 year ago

I like having correct artwork and control/button layout. Makes the experience more complete.

What’s the consensus on the A1up riser? I ordered one with my DL, but curious If that was a good move or not. Guess I’ll know more when it arrives, but just curious on thoughts.

In my experience they come with them and are needed. Some people here have made or bought aftermarket for additional rise. We are short, so we are good with the stock riser that comes with these games.

Love my Atgames with CoinopsX

Ultimate multicade for the $

Vpin mostly sucks ya - can't go back lol

I second this. Mine has been rock solid for a year now. 5,000 plus games and feels closer to a full size arcade than the 1ups.
I bought a street fighter 2 when it came out and ultimately it was just too small and cramped. Modded it with a Pandora’s box stick to spread out the players and then sold it when an Atgames was on sale for $499 at Sams.
The only thing I need to do now is make a separate USB drive for when people come over. 5,000 games is too many for them to pick from. I have a favorites list of about 70 games but if no one is playing it automatically scrolls to other lists by game manufacture and guests and kids get lost. I would like to put maybe 25 games on a usb and have that loaded up for parties. Any easy directions for how to do this for someone that has never done ANY mame video game type stuff? Can I just open the drive on my computer and copy the games I want to a new drive? I just bought the 5,000+ game usb from Etsy and called it a day.

I recently got the 35th anniversary legacy Capcom Yoga Flame Edition. I got this one because for one....I got it at a very low price. And two....I love playing Super Turbo. Its nice to switch this on and start playing really quickly. I also like being able to play others online. So that was a sweet bonus. I also still have my Super Turbo arcade boards which I can play with a Super Gun set up. However....of course its just me against the A.I.

The only other Arcade1up I have is the Star Wars Arcade. I got that mostly for the nostalgia....and again....I got it at a fraction of the price. I used to play that one daily. Now, about once a week or so.

For what its worth Sams Club is having a blowout on these.

199: Simpsons with Riser
199: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with riser
199: Super Pac Man
299: Blitz w/Stool (1/2 price what it was last month).

Can't really go wrong at that price. I'm full up or I'd be bringing home Mortal Kombat (should have like 12 games on it)

https://www.samsclub.com/s/arcade1up

#1217 1 year ago

That’s an awesome price for blitz! I also paid double and didn’t even get a stool!

#1218 1 year ago

Yeah, I popped on Blitz and Pacman. No space here either, but where there's a will...

Thanks, I ordered the ultimate Mortal Kombat.
I almost bought the Mortal Kombat 2 off craigslist for the same price last month, but I procrastinated and it sold before I responded to the add.
Arrives 23rd just before my time off from work.

Blitz with a stool for $299 is a complete no-brainer - wow

Got my Ridge Racer built and promptly hidden away for Christmas (no way am I building this at 1am on Christmas Eve!). The newer cabinets do have a nicer finish than the earlier cabinets. The steering wheel has a good quality feel to it but the pedals feel cheap. I wanted to see if the game could be set up as a sit-down without the riser and was happy to discover that yes, the pedals are not integral to the riser. I will fashion something to help secure the pedal box to the cabinet but it'll do for now. Hope the kiddos like it.

Yeah she's a bit of a nutball, we just use the pen to feed her separately from the other dogs to avoid issues there. She is the long-hair copper color mini dachshund on the left.

Have they released or are they planning on releasing a linked driver game? I think that’s what would interest me the most at this point.
I had really been looking forward to one as my girls would play all the racing games against each other on our AtGames Legends multicade but since we got a Nintendo switch we usually play mariokart instead so not as sure now.

They will like it. Mine got played more the first couple days than 8 months or so I had T2. It is a brutal game with Ace Driver being everyone's favorite because it's easier to finish a race.

That's interesting, I also tried to build my RR as a sit down unit but that glossy black piece on the bottom doesn't fit that area, it needs to be cut down. Did you cut yours down and then nail it in, or is there another piece somewhere that fits that I'm not noticing?

Speaking of Ridge Racer (or Outrun), thinking of pulling the trigger on the mod kit that buystuffarcades just came out with this morning that gets you 150 wheel games in one of those units if you buy the racing kit + hdmi converter board for about $250 combined. Not a bad price considering driving game emulation (like light guns) is not so straight forward in MAME.

That is simply me setting the pedal unit on the floor. It'll do for now and I will work on attaching them securely on the cabinet.

I bought a T2 1up from dell last month when it was on sale for $299. Price seemed great (also had $200 off from an amex credit card). But then I watched some youtube reviews and immediately cancelled the order. These machines are decent value when they're on sale, but they're small in scale compared to a normal arcade cabinet, often have certain limitations (the screen and guns on the T2) compared to the original arcade machiens, and don't feel like they would hold their value at all (if you care about that sort of thing). It's the kind of the thing you'll have to give away for free in the future if you want to get rid of it -- that's how mass produced they are.

Absolutely not the case on the resale thing.

I’ve never seen Tron on sale and you can’t even get Star Wars anymore. These 2 are the best IMO and make great additions to my game room.

#1242 1 year ago
Quoted from Flyfalcons:

Agreed. As a general rule I've been able to sell mine for about MSRP -100 when I'm done with them, or trade them for another one.

Sold Street Fighter 2 for 300, Namco legacy for 300. Bother were about 400 at the time.

I traded my Ridge Racer for a Big Buck Hunter, and then sold it for 300 a few months later.

There are a ton of these, but you can trade them pretty easily on facebook marketplace. If you bought T2 for 300 and got tired of it, you could probably put it on freeplay at a pinball show and sell it for 200.

I have a "full" lineup now, but if something else cool comes out I'll buy it and sell an older one to make space. Just bear in mind these usually come out around 699 and then closout for 300 to 500 within a year.

I rotate what I play, and have been on a Goldentee binge lately. It's perfect for playing while catching up with family.

Speaking of which, selling a few NIB games that don’t have the room for. I’m the Upstate NY area for local pickup, if interested, message me. Shipping is a killer nowadays. Took my ad off FB Marketplace as it’s a wreck there full of scammers and lowballer types.

Arcade1Up 12 in 1 Atari Cab -$300
Arcade1Up Namco Legacy Cab (Original Pac Man exterior)- $300
Arcade1Up “Big Blue” Capcom Street Fighter Cab -$400
Arcade1Up Simpsons (w/ Simpsons bowling) - $300

Most of the mini arcades on the market are cartridge replicas of the original game. this Contra version with a light up marquee is the only original arcade rom replica with high score save feature. This is a game changer for mini arcades.

The sound is a little tinny is all. I have 20+ of these and within my arcade setting, it doesn't bother me. Also, if you don't update Simpsons, the bowling has no sound at all, but once you update, it works fine
