Looking to purchase my first pin. It’s a data east Jurassic Park. Sounds like Playfield wise it’s in good shape. Looking for advice on cabinet wear / damage. It’s priced at the avg pin side price, how much does the cabinet effect price? Any input welcome.

To me, a few dings and scrapes are acceptable for a 20+ year old pin, as long as the seller isn't asking top dollar.

The most important thing is usually the condition of the playfield. And in this game specifically, that the ramp isn't broken.

If you can’t handle standard wear on a 30 year old cabinet you should consider buying a brand new machine. Most older games that aren’t fully restored will show minimal wear like that.

OP can just place newer pins on either side of this one, we know it doesn't stop with just 1 pin.

Unless it's water damage, I could care less about normal scrapes and dings on the sides. But I also have a bunch of games and can never see their sides and bring my games to shows. I've never been someone into the pristine untouched look of cabinets and have always collected used and well loved games. I also feel like if it's something I start to care about when I'm older, cabinet repair, new art, stencils, and painting are all not that hard to do. And it looks like that cab's wear is mostly in the black, that's easy peasy to touch up if you can match the gloss of the black. Take the plunge!

Make sure the trex eats the ball and check if the left/right movement works. One of the most common issues on this game.

Thanks for all the replies. There are not many near me for sale and wasn’t sure what normal wear looked like. Sounds like this is fairly normal then.

Regarding the pics of the cabinet you posted? Yes. The more important factor affecting overall value and resell-ability is almost ALWAYS playfield wear. As long as the cabinet is not water damaged, you need to be primarily concerned about PF wear.

Been buying and selling pins for 18 years.
