Just finished restoring an orig MM for a client, and thought I'd share some pics. This game was in typical routed condition when it arrived, filthy dirty all over with playfield issues, broken parts, some dings and bruises on the outside, and various gameplay issues from years of loyal service.

The playfield was removed and replaced with a new one from Mirco along with lots of other new parts going back on. Original ramps were torched, the ball guides and all stainless parts were regrained, new plastics as needed, all the mechs rebuilt, the brass habitrails were re-plated etc etc.

The cabinet exterior had issues, but after getting opinions from a couple other guys it was deemed not bad enough to warrant sanding down. Instead, a sign painter friend was commissioned to repair the issues and touchup as good as possible and it came out great. It had heavy wear down to the wood at the flipper buttons, and misc scratches and scrapes all over. Cabinet interior and head were emptied of all hardware/harness, floor was sanded, everything cleaned, painted, put back together and detailed.

Finished play testing and fine tuning a couple days ago, now it's all wrapped up and going back home tomorrow!

First up, cabinet exterior:

Thanks guys. When the machine first arrived and he just wanted it shopped out, I unwrapped the game and saw the trainwreck that was inside and wanted to close it back up lol! But after discussing options of selling it and either buying a new MMr, finding and buying a nicer MM, buying a NIB MM that was on ebay un January, or giving this one a nice restore, this is what was decided.

Thanks guys for all the kind words. After all, where else can one share such an effort? I'd show my wife, but don't think she would notice it looked much different lol...
