Is that a 2101 you are using as opposed to a 5101?

2101's are pin compatible with 5101's but are a super power hog and will eat batteries fast as you are seeing.

Check and make sure that should not be a 5101 instead. If so, put a 5101 in a you'll be fine. OR remove the batteries, toss the 2101/5101 and put in a NvRAM and be done with it forever.

Quoted from zug1619:

when you say "Matched pair"...does it matter that i'm getting rid of the one today...as long as i buy two nvram adapters its ok, right?

Correct.

Remove the 2101 from Ms Pac VIDIOT board..
Remove 5101 from MPU-200 and put it in the Pac and sell it.
Then buy 2 NvRams for the MPU-200 and hang onto the 2101 for troubleshooting, and the second 5101 for spare parts.
