Your RAM is not a low power RAM as needed for that board. You'll need to replace it. U8. Better to replace it with anyPin NVRAM Battery Eliminator and do away with the battery all together.

Quoted from zug1619:

ok, so, the RAM chip thats in there is drawing too much and thats killing the battery? I've never had this generation of Bally before. My early Sterns never had an issue like this.
I've never heard of anyPin NVRAM before, but they seem cool. I'm not infront on my game right now, is U8 a socketed chip? how easy are these things to put in (anyPin NVRAM). Do they need to be soldered?

Yes, it's socketed. anyPin in this board is very simple. No soldering needed.

...I have a 1980 Stern Cheetah. I checked the RAM and its the 5101. So....can i just take that out, swap into the Pacman and be done? Then, order the anyPin and stick in my Cheetah?
Thoughts?
Thanks again!
Dan Z

Yes.

Be sure to install the chip with its notch going in the same direction as the one you remove.

when you say "Matched pair"...does it matter that i'm getting rid of the one today...as long as i buy two nvram adapters its ok, right?

Use Pinitech's MPU-200 RAM adapter. I have them and would be happy to include one with your anyPin order.

With it you'll remove U8 and U13 on the MPU, install the MPU-200 adapter with the anyPin in it at U8, done.
