See, here is where I think you are mistaken. If that game were put up in the Chicago area on CL for $1500, it would have been a mad bum rush for it. It probably would have sold for higher. An yes, a few would have driven over their mothers for it.
Because YOU don't like the game or the band, it doesn't make the value any less.

Same here in Central/Eastern PA. I know of several flippers that would be all over each other to get that game and have it post a day later for $2000 with the excuse of (have to sell to get room to park my car in the garage but willing to trade)

Two or three years ago I watched a folded up KISS on a pallet with no hint as to whether there were boards, a back glass or even a play field go for $1000. Yeah, I bid on it too. I recently acquired a bare play field and will literally build the machine around it.

I thought this was the best deal on a Bally Kiss out there because the seller said so.

About 25 years ago I was offered a non working KISS for $500 NZD.

I'd just bought my first pin for $150 (solar city) so $500 seemed crazy money.

Now, I kick myself every time I see one. Lol

Paid $800 for a nice players KISS machine working back in 1996. There are more on ebay lately priced not as high as usual, but still pricey. $1500 for a decent example seems good. Most have wear around the middle. Mine has a decent cab, very good backglass and a very used playfield, but ok. I wouldn't sell mine for $1500.

Ooooooooooffffff!
Paragon ... one of the best pins ever made!
All kneel down and praise it!
Or be cast into the Valley of Demons.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the insight and guidance. I had the seller send me a close-up of the playfield wear they told me about and have attached. According to them, this is the only area of wear on the playfield. If someone can give me some feedback on whether this wear is of significant concern, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The playfield wear almost blends in with the playfield paint in that area...

Lol. I did the same thing but with the original Star Trek. Ended up paying full retail but got a good serviceable game from TNT Amusements. Of course, you are likely buying it for the theme/KISS and not so much the game play. Original Star Trek was a meh game but the artwork is great. Of course, several years go by and now I have TNG right next to it. Be prepared to spend coin on the new KISS!
