Wow, this is awesome. Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands of all times. Can't wait to hear the music incorporated!

Led Zeppelin made its competition debut today!
It had 9x 4 player games played on it, all as single player games - so 36 single player games of 5 ball action.
The game was great, I had to tweak the coin door plug at one stage, and at the end of the day the 10,000 reel was a little sticky when resetting. But otherwise, passed with flying colours!
Here’s a picture of Jeremy playing it - you might remember he helped me with making the illustrator files of the playfield back in the start.

Quoted from rotordave:Funny yesterday ... I have been fine tuning the LZ for its competition debut next weekend.
I was trying to figure out why the 1000pt spinner light wouldn’t light up. You’d get the bonus wheel around to LIGHT SPINNER, hit the scoop and the 100pt lamp would light, and you’d get 100 a spin. But I thought that the next time you did that, the light would progress to 1000 points. Mucked around with it for ages trying to sort how how it all worked.
Finally - a web search discovered an old Pinside thread - where it said that if you are on 5 ball settings, you can only get 100 a spin ... and if you are on 3 ball settings, you get the 1000 a spin! You can’t have both.
So that mystery was solved!
Next mission is to track down why the backbox GI fuse is blowing randomly. One of the sockets must be dodgy, just have to work out which one ...

I was wondering that on my Freedom as well. Thanks for clearing that up. Btw. That is one freaking awesome pin!
Quoted from mof:I tried rating it...
11
of course, and it rejected me...
??????? but this goes to 11

Awesome to see this project spreading the pinball love around the planet.

Led Zeppelin plays music!
My concept works as planned - and Jeremy (general genius around town) built up the circuit ...
A little bit more fine tuning and (hopefully) we will be rockin out!!

Watch it before YouTube flags it. Lol

Will you be purchasing the Stern version when it comes out next year ?

So, not happening before year end?

Probably not at today’s prices.

Bet you a case of beer that the Stern LZ is a rethemed Beatles!!!
Or worse yet a rethemed Ted Nugent.

Rethemed Quicksilver is the talk ...
Even Stern are jumping on board the classic Stern hype train!

That’d be slightly disappointing...I hope they stick with a new layout

When they do the Bee Gees which seems inevitable, it would only be fitting to retheme a Stern Disco.

or CGC can remake Disco Fever.
Banana flippers and all.
Fun game, actually ...

Looks like we really need to petition Stern to get this right.
It should certainly be the Bee Gees in their full blown later disco years, not their early boy band years. We all know how things turn out when pinside doesn't make enough noise.
That is awesome! Watching extra close now because I just got a Beat Time that would one day love to play the Bootles! Super-cool

There’s a possibility that Jeremy/Me might offer this as a kit.
It would be sorta plug and play. Sorta. You’d still need to run wires from the player lamps.
I have kept it nice and simple - as I wanted to maintain the originality of the EM pin, and the chimes for the PF sounds. I didn’t want full sounds - if I did I would have made a modern pin.
This is what it does:
1/ plays a different song for each player (song repeats indefinitely)
2/ plays a sound byte at game over
3/ plays a sound byte at TILT (cue Dave saying “WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING??”
You can change all the songs/sounds on the Mini SD card.
Any interest?
Anyway - let’s get it cranking first, and go from there.

Quicksilver is one of the best Classic Sterns, it'll 100% be re-made at some point, LZ is as good a theme as any.
If anyone here is attending Houston Arcade & Pinball Expo this weekend, come say hi! I’ll be there in my booth of OldSchool 3D poster art with red/blue glasses, and will have a very small handful of playfield and backglass prints to take a gander at. Let’s hang out!

Is this sound card mod a one off for your project or is it something that can be purchased?

We are thinking of selling them. Jeremy designed the circuitry - and programmed them . there’s a fair bit to them as you can see. Basically a small computer and an MP3 player merged together, and made to accept 6v AC inputs to change the tracks.
The way we have set it up ...
4x inputs for player tunes.
- player tunes will play continuously- well, as long as your ball lasts.
1x game over tune
- plays only once
1x tilt tune
- plays only once. I’m going to record some funny speech for my one.
All the tracks are MP3 and can be changed to whatever you want.
They have a built in amp (low power) and an Aux out so you can run it to an amp, or something like a Bluetooth/Aux player. Terry at PBL has Marshall Bluetooths on the top of his KISS and Nugent and they look pretty cool.
These are designed specifically for EM machines, just to play background music. Like I’ve said elsewhere in the thread, I don’t want my EM to make sound effects when the ball hits switches - that’s what the chimes are for. Chimes are the essence of an EM machine, in my opinion. If you don’t want chimes - don’t get an EM.
We did some preliminary pricing - to make it worthwhile making them, they’d have to be around 125-145 bucks - every one is made by hand. Obviously they’d be cheaper if you got a company to make 100 of them, but I don’t think we would need that many.
Any interest around that price?

Is that US Dollars
or Aussie Dollars or Kiwi Dollars
or Yap stone currency?

Yen. China will make anything cheap, in more ways than one........

USD as if it was in NZ dollars we would be losing money big time. Lolll

Quoted from hlaj78:Sounds like a roboclaim.
I thought you were talking about the amp for a minute there ... “a robo what?”
Yeah, the YouTube thing was instantaneous. Definitely a robot of some kind.

Oh ... seeing that vid made me reminisce a little ...
I bought that Marshall Quad box used when I was 15 years old. It’s been at every gig and every jam I ever played.
It’s from 1977 ... originally, I bought it with a matching 1977 Marshall Master Volume 100w Head. I got bored with the one sound, and traded it for the first Laney tube head that arrived in NZ, an AOR50 two channel - probably around 1987-88ish.
There have been quite a few since that one ...
My other amp is a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier and matching Mesa quad - wow what a beast that thing is. Almost makes me want to go and gig again. Almost.

I'd be interested.
I have an EM retheme in mind and totally agree with your approach to just offer some additional sounds but the chimes would still be used during gameplay.
Cool bananas!
I’ve had a lot of interest - I’ll chat to Jeremy and see how many he can make.
Stand by.
